+xSouttar had a shocker. Back pass intercepted for a goal while he was way too slow when rounded by a striker to score. This level shows more than Nepal or Taiwan. I am not convinced about the young lad at international level just yet but he has time to develop. I’d be nervous if he was starting against Japan or S Korea, or Jordan for that matter!

I’d be nervous if any of our defenders were against those teams

This might be a slightly weird observation but apart from the youth in the A league and u/17 successes, i’m buoyed by the form of those aussies who we used to get really excited about as juniors but - through injury and bad luck/choices/form - kind of fell off the radar, leaving us a bit disappointed at the probable lack of realisation of talent. In this I’d include: Callum Elder - was such a promising junior at Hull but injuries and some bad loan club experiences and his promise looked in trouble. He is doing well at Hull.
Reno Piscopo - so much hype as a youngster, then seemingly fell off the radar. Stint in Serie C saw him disappear from view but he looked pretty good today for Wellington. Jordan Lyden - such a star of Villa’s academy, just kept getting injured and was forced to leave villa. Has gone all the way down to League 2 to start again but supposedly he has been very impressive for Swindon so far Cameron Burgess seems to have reversed his sinking fortunes at Salford city
Ok These guys aren’t that young anymore - so they aren’t exciting stories anymore but they had plenty of early promise and great footballing educations and if they can stay injury free, play in teams that use them well they are good chances to keep rising the football pyramid by 26-28 which could really help the depth of our senior team stocks. I’m sure we’d be happy if we had one of these guys work their way back up to the EPL at a later age like Mooy did.

Amini out injured for the Aarhus match Duncan starting - had a quick Squizzy on transfermarket - he has played far more minutes than any other u/20 player in that team.he must be impressing. Great for a 19yo.

I’d include DDS, Oar and Birighitti (yes I know the last two are in their mid to late 20’s but all 3 look to be back at their best) as well.

I see John Iredale has a foot injury and hasn’t played for Wolfsburg u/23 since before he went to u/23 national camp. Hope it’s not serious. Need him for the January tournament. He isn’t even the top scorer for his club anymore

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Hollands LASK linz defeat Jeggo's Austria Vienna predictably 2 nil.
Jeggo taken off at 61st minute for losing side, Holland full game yet Holland continues to be ignored for the Socceroos :/

Damn, thought Federici had claimed that #1 spot.
Stoke have been in pretty shocking form lately though so I guess they do need some changes.

I really thought he would have been the successor to MS Butland is the first choice for now but I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that they are looking to sell him. Unfortunately Bultand’s form has been terrible and they are reportedly asking for over 20 million pounds for him so such a move has never materialised. In a funny way, being benched in favour of Butland until January will probably benefit Federici as Butland can play himself back into form and will hopefully leave.

Finally getting a chance to settle down at work and watch. Missed the goal. Degenek clearly leading the defence from his gesticulations.

Red Star have done well to keep it to 0-3, but now they have to play the last ten minutes with ten men due to an injury after using all three subs.

Hrustic is such a great story, no one had any type of hype surrounding his name. Now he is a Key figure in his side, week in, week out. This kid will be our star in a couple years.
