I guess that would be our next question to pose to AUFC, 'what the heck will our front and back of shirt sponsors be??'

I shall be signing up in person at Hindmarsh come Monday morning... perhaps late morning. Definitely gonna be worth it as we head into season 09/10 and the ACL next year. I'll be keeping an eye out on the merchandise front too, since this is going to be my first season as a season ticket holder, I wanna show true pride in the club by getting the home shirt and I guess a scarf would be nice too!

Hmm... just got home from being out all morning, and I noticed I received a member's pack containing a season ticket card, a lanyard, a sticker and the card holder from AUFC already. I thought, "Surely, they can't have anticipated my signing up already." So I followed the prompts on the letter to activate the card, and get my Friday Night Shout tickets. Does this mean that I've now been charged twice, one for the Gold season ticket I bought at Hindmarsh, and one Red season ticket I just activated?? Did anyone else get this?

Um if you paid for a Gold Season ticket today then it must be for a seat that wasn't reserved for a member from last year. It means you can activate your ticket but if you don't pay for the red membership it will just become invalid if you try and get into Hindmarsh on that card unless your going to pay for that membership too.

I renewed today at Venuetix in Da Costa Arcade. I had problems activated my card through the website today. I got my gold ticket and Lanyard Friday night. If you were a member last year and when you renewed you used that membership number then you should be alright. I am going to register now for the "Friday night Shout" tickets.

Adelaide United Specialist Coach Tony Vidmar believes this Friday night’s friendly against Perth Glory, will give The Reds a good indication of where they are at in their pre season progress.

The former Qantas Socceroo defender, who enjoyed a decorated playing career with 76 senior appearances for his country and lengthy stints with NAC Breda, Scottish League giants Rangers and English club Cardiff City, among others, says United’s squad is looking forward to tackling a Glory outfit that has attracted some big signings in the off season.

Qantas Socceroos duo Mile Sterjovski and Jacob Burns have both signed for the West Australian club, while foreigners Eugene Dadi and Victor Sikora both extended their contracts for this season.

Perth’s visit to Hindmarsh Stadium will be the first match for United against Hyundai A-League opposition, following three trials against local Super League clubs Para Hills Knights, MetroStars and Raiders. While all three local encounters were solid, tough affairs which gave United’s squad valuable match fitness, Vidmar knows the Glory will provide The Reds with a real measuring stick of where they are at with six weeks to go until Round 1.

“The boys have been working hard in the pre-season, they’ve had some games against local teams and Friday night will be a good test to see how far they’ve come,” Vidmar said.

One player Vidmar and United’s coaching staff will be keen to have another look at is Korean born midfielder Shin In Sup. The 20 year old has been in Adelaide for over a week training with The Reds and impressed in the trial match against Raiders, Head Coach Aurelio Vidmar extending the midfielder’s trial period, Shin set to line up against Perth.

“So far of what we’ve seen he’s been very good,” Tony Vidmar said of Shin.

“He’s technically solid, he’s got a bit of pace about him and good vision when he’s in possession of the ball, he doesn’t give too many passes away, so he’s been impressive and we’ll see how he goes on Friday night.”

Vidmar has joined fellow Australian representative and former Reds striker Carl Veart in a specialist coaching role with the senior squad, while he also remains an Assistant Coach to Joe Mullen of United’s Youth Team. The veteran defender said he is enjoying being able to work individually with players on various aspects of their game, and is confident his and Veart’s experience will be beneficial, particularly for the younger players.

Kick-Off is at 7.30pm (ACST) with a curtain raiser between the Riverland and Western Border kicking off at 4.45pm.
