Too true deportivo, it is fustrating seeing as Australia has a long history of producing great goalkeepers that the HAL to often sees them pumping a hopeful ball forward, or kicking it out on the full. It is almost like they have forgoten that they can roll the ball to a player, or pass it to them. The also seem to have forgotten that they do not need to take a goal kick and pump it down the other end of the ground.

Nothing wrong with kicking the ball(I think Im getting a little misquoted). Difference is where the ball is being kicked to. Too many times do you see the ball is getting booted as far up the field as possible in an attempt to get it away from danger. Quality keepers still kick but always have an attacking intention to their kicks. Usually they aim for the wingers and try to catch their markers off guard, much like Keller did with his diagonal balls to Danning. Thats what I want to see from our guys(consequently, the best Aussie keeper I saw do this was Federeci at the Olympics...which is a shame because he was really the only one doing his job right).

Quote:
Unfortunately, Shin was thrown into the deep end, by trying to replace Alemao (who had a spectacular game once again). Give him a few more games and then we shall see how much promise he has. I still remember his awesome on-ball skills against Perth in the rain-soaked friendly in the pre-season, so there's hope yet.

Thats where you have the advantage...I only saw him play on the Sunday. He also plyed very cnetrally...a wider berth maybe an interesting option.

Sorry depo! Didn't mean to say all kicks are a waste, just sick of seeing the ball pumped forward when under pressure instead of trying to build positive possession in order to put the pressure back on the currently dominant team.

Yeah...exactly. Its the one thing that burns me more about australian football than any thing else. If you have possesion of the ball WHY OH WHY MUST YOU GIVE IT AWAY! Same thing with clearances. Im a football coach myself and I have a distinct possesion based style to my teams. No booting the ball up field, no kicking it into touch and my players travel in groups of three whenever in possesion.

Its hard enough getting possesion, but then to throw it away! I get stomach cramps when I see that happen(Simon Colosimo almost killed me on Sunday:x).

This is the reason that the FFA needs to actively be involved in the grooming of our elite coaches. Our senior (ie NT) coaches should be holding tutorials for all the HAL coaches, after all why would the FFA leave such a great resource untapped?

Cant argue with that, and then those coaches(association coaches) to pass on their knowledge in tutorials for amatuer coaches. Let the knowledge trickle all the way doen to the roots.

Also, no person should be allowed to coach unless he/she has minimum required accreditation. At rep level its enforced, but not at park football level, which is where the players sprout from. Lets get it right from step 1 and ensure our kids ARE recieving the best available coaching possible.

The aditional benefit of that is the formulation of thoughts and experiences into a presentable and understandable medium will infact increase the ability of the teacher as well as the student. You may have the greatest skills in the world, but if you cannot pass them on in a way that is understandable then you may as well not have any at all.

Man Miron is a tool, he has been bagging out AUFC to the media and calling Aurelio Mr Average. Come out and play indeed, all this from the 1 season master - who else expects Okon to be coach next season?

Cant wait for this game, I have invited a couple of extra people along to this one, hopefully we can get a massive crowd (I cant see why we couldn't)

Also just got my friday night shout tickets (well my partners allocation), annoyed that the Melbourne victory games allocation is already exhausted. Guess my friends will just have to pay to see that one!

I cant decide which game to use mine for. Brisbane, Sydney or for the second Gold Coast match?

Yeah, I had to get in early to get my FNS tickets for the Melbourne Victory home game. Glad I got hold of them. I'm dragging other friends along as well, so we can split the ticket costs. :p Good way to get a healthy crowd there. I'm still amazed at the ingenuity of the FNS scheme. I'd go for the Sydney match. It'll be our only match against them at home as well, so another good reason to get along and watch them get belted.

Meanwhile, who's up for the Brisbane Roar game on December 12 at Suncorp Stadium? I'm trying to organise my trip early to try and get good accommodation and flight prices.

Yes it did... O_O

It's 3 bucks for the transaction, so I don't mind if they tell me that I've got to pay the rest of the ticket price if it's a glitch of some sort later on.

They cannot make you pay more for the ticket. That is illegal, the price advertised is the price to pay. Bad luck to be them.

I would call them and ask them how they can ask you to pay more than their advertised asking price for the ticket. Ask them what in the consumer credit code allows them to retroactively change the price they asked for the ticket? You did not do anything illegal. Stick to your guns.

I hardly read anything he has to say anymore, it's just the general aura of conceit emanating from GCU that annoys me. Even in both our teams moments of greatest achievements the clubs handled themselves with humility, dignity and class.

That class is sorely lacking from GCU after (and before) just two wins.

Admit that I tend to ignore him now as well - agree about the GCU aura, and its fans don't help their case at all. I cannot understand how they think that we should all just be bowing down before them?

And so say all of us. Unfortunately, I don't thnk that anything will change whatever the result tonight. If they win it'll be business as usual. If they lose there will simply be more ammunition for the rather disturbing paranoia complex that seems to be growing around the club.

I'm not sure that everything that has happenned between the Reds and the Victory has been handled with humility, dignity and class (certainly not in my case :) ) but I do know that as rivals we have a level of respect for one another that allows us to settle down after a while and talk with clarity about each other's performances. Maybe, just maybe, GCU and it's advocates will eventually realise that they're just another football team in a competition that is fun to watch and support. That they don't have to "raise the level" or teach us all how to play. The league has been getting better each year. The standard has lifted. They're part of that. Part of that. Self-aggrandisement is an unpopular introductory ploy. As is putting everyone else down. Most of us learn that at primary school.

But then, they are young yet.

Oh, i just meant the clubs as in the professional entities handled themselves well. The fans, on both sides of the divide, are quite obviously a bunch of irrational, bitter, slathering psychopaths... but then, we wouldn't have it any other way.
