I'm actually starting to favour the centre-pairing of Fyfe-Rudan, Cornthwaite just throws a spanner into the mix...

If it's our best possible starting line up, Barbiero has to fit into there somewhere as well. And Mullen too... when he's back from Egypt. But as it is, with injuries and international duties, this weekend I'd like to see...

Galekovic
Alemao - Fyfe - Rudan - Cassio
Hughes (gonna risk it, and hope he gets a good game as DM)
Dodd - Shin (another risk, but we need his speed) - Jamieson
Owusu
Cristiano

Bench: Leckie, Pantelis, Monterosso, Birighitti

This is more based on attack - Cornthwaite misses out unfortunately...

Cornthwaite over Fyfe anyday for me. But this is supposed to be your best team IF everyone's available. For this week my lineup is on the Dodd: It's Crunch Time Boys [FFT Article] thread. I'll just bet Viddie is reading it now!

Interesting to see you have benched Cristiano and put Alemao up front.

Good call actually - he seems a bit stronger at winning the ball and retaining possesion than Cristino at the moment. Having said that Cristiano is in a bit of a form/attitude slump. If he could get back to his best he would be a great goal poach for us. At his best I would think he is worthy of the starting line up.

As for this weekend (altough you have listed your line up in the Dodd link) I would go with:

Galaka
Alemao - Fyfe - Rudan - Cassio
Cornflakes (your idea and I like it)
Dodd - Leckie/Shin - Jamo
Owusu - Cristiano

Barbs would be in attacking midfield but todays paper says he wont start until the Jets game -unless Viddie is trying to throw Ferguson off???

I like this but would have Mullen in for Marrone and Cristiano on for Alemao. Oh and Shin in for Pants.

Cristiano annoys (would like to use stronger language but...) me, however he could be devastating in a true strike partnership with Owusu. Alemao for bench as he slots in to too many positions in the team.

We need to see Shin start a game IMO. This would be the perfect oppotunity.

I saw it a cracking goal but he looked lost during the game.
He may have pulled a swifty over Viddie. IMO Sunarsky would have been a better choice as he's a very good player, but maybe an AM was thought to be better than a DM.

But now Costa is out for the year Viddie needs to act swiftly and sign a good replacement that has vision and confidence with the older guys.

Not sure if that will happen. I quite like Shin, I have the feeling that he thought he would see more game time than he has.

Like I've mentioned earlier, I think Viddie is blooding Shin in the Youth League to see how he goes for a whole 90 minutes. If I'm right, he may just start Shin this week against the Fury. I saw Shin play on Friday night, and he is good - but like others have said, maybe still not quite confident enough when he does get the ball.

Damn, I thought Barbs would get this game. In that case I suppose I'd go with Pants/Shin.Lecjkie is a wide man.

As for the best eleven. I went with Alamao because of his speed and strength. Cristiano looks lost at the moment but if we ever get to see him with Lloyd for a whole match maybe I'll change my mind. I hear the general when he says Alamao is a great utility player but I think the time may have come to trust him as a starter.

There is a punters corner in Extra Time now Torak if you are partial to a flutter.

This is Sarkies last season? He either needs to play a blinding season or he can go to the scarp heap.

And what do you know, Monterosso is not included in the 15 man squad as of the latest ins/outs ahead of Sunday's match:

Adelaide United squad: 1.Eugene GALEKOVIC (gk), 2.Robert CORNTHWAITE, 4.Iain FYFE, 6.CASSIO, 7.Lucas PANTELIS, 8.Kristian SARKIES, 9.CRISTIANO, 10.Adam HUGHES, 11.Lloyd OWUSU, 13.Travis DODD (c), 14.Scott JAMIESON, 16.Inseob SHIN, 19.Mathew LECKIE, 20.Mark BIRIGHITTI (gk), 21.Mark RUDAN

Out: ALEMAO (broken nose – 1 week)
Unavailable: Daniel MULLEN (international duty), Paul REID (thigh/quad – 3 weeks), Michael MARRONE (knee – 4 weeks), Joe COSTA (knee – 6 months)

Again, although Viddie has hinted he may start with the same lineup as last week, I'm hoping Shin will get an extended run (hopefully a start) because of his 90 minutes in the youth league match last week.

I dont know it anyone else feels the same way but im extremly disapointed with Travis & Lloyd's comment in the paper re our formation - yet everyone forgets we have more shots on goal that our opponets and neither of the two mentioned can covert.

TBH I not suprised with a striker but never exepected the same level of underminding from Travis

Not very good captaincy from Travis. He should be making the players grit their teeth and play for the shirt, not undermining the coach.
If thats the best he's going to do maybe he should relinquish the armband.......or.... stir the team on to actually do what he says every week

The Adelaide United website - each week they'll post the match report, it will also be mentioned in the Weekly Updates, and under the Youth League section too.
