I skimmed through the article about Flores this morning.

Didn't Val say that either Cristiano or Alamao would have to go - because of the foreigner rule I'd imagine.
Hard choice, wish we could keep both, but I'd favour keeping Alamao because I've always admired his ball skill.
I guess it's hard for Cristiano to show it as he's always jumping and nodding to ghosts.

Didn't know about Mario. Maybe United should get rid of Fyfe and sign Ivan as well.:)

True, but mostly because there has been so much bullshit put there - it got kinda depressing. This is a worthwhile rumor, you may be surprised as well - people do check it out. As for AUFC specific rumors throw them into this thread, the majority of active AUFC posters come here (as well as KA etc) and we are always happy to speculate on anything that may result in future joy and happiness!

AU just announced the signing of Nigel Boogaard for next season:
Quote:
Adelaide United FC has made a significant signing ahead of next season, after securing gun Central Coast Mariners defender Nigel Boogaard on a two year deal.

The Reds’ focus may be on the 14 rounds to go in the current Hyundai A-League season, but the club has moved quickly to sign Boogaard, whose contract with the Mariners comes to a close at the end of the season.

Boogaard will join The Reds once the Mariners’ Hyundai A-League season has ended, and the highly regarded 23 year old is excited by the prospect of running out for last season’s Hyundai A-League Grand Finalists for the start of next season.

Interesting. We will need another solid CB. We can only hope we get a creative midfielder. Damn shame we couldn't sign Hernandez before Melbourne renewed his contract.

Source? I hope this isn't true, for three reasons:

1) We already have quite enough 'meh' players;
2) We already have quite enough centre backs, to the extent that we have one playing at right back as well, how about fixing the gaping holes in our squad before signing reinforcements for positions which we already have covered?
3) If there really is movement on the ownership front, wouldn't it be better to get that sorted first, so that the new owners/board can take the club in their own direction?

This smacks of another deeply average FFA signing to complement the rest of our deeply average squad. I can't wait until we have new owners who are willing to invest in the squad and actually try to take the club forward.

Sorry, abignumber, it's straight from the club. Locked in. I'd say that Fyfe or Rudes is saying bye-bye at season's end and we're looking for cover.

Maybe Alamao is also on his way. He can't seem to cement a spot despite his skill and Marrone and Mullen have that RB spot sewn up - if and when they're fit. But who knows? Maybe the club think we're about to lose Jamo and are filling spots in defence? Oh, I hope not....

Shit!! I sure hope Rudan is not going ( maybe being a Rover isn't so bad after all )

I'd prefer we drag Batigol out of retirement, if they paid Romaria heaps to stand on the penalty spot, maybe Batigol could stand twenty yards out and just fire rockets into the back of the net - OH HOW I'D LOVE THAT

A-League clubs are on red alert with Hull City considering the future of Richard Garcia.

The Australia midfielder is in the sights of new chairman Adam Pearson, who needs to slash a wage bill which has blown out to over £40 million.

Garcia is eyeing a place in Australia's World Cup squad and a late move to the A-League could boost his chances ahead of returning to Europe after South Africa 2010.

North Queensland Fury and Adelaide United have been mentioned as potential destinations for the attacking midfielder.

surely that would be a great signing for january get on a plane adelaide

I've just been to the most frustratingly arrogant football game!

I've been a member of United since they played against the NSL teams. I've been to every game @ Hindmarsh, but for the first time for years I'm going to give the next home game a miss, because life is too short to waste watching a comfortble coach and players whose heads drop when the opposition plays " mean " and scores.

It's obvious that the Sydney based FFA doesn't care what Vidmar does, so he's comfortable knowing he can serve up the same crap week in, week out.
Frankly his tactics and favouritism is shitting me.

We have strikers that would find it hard to score if the sticks were 20 metres wide and 10 metres high.

If something isn't done to actually score goals at least it'll be short, embarrasing ACL campaign.

That's the problem isn't it? We play an okay style of football, but we just can't seem to be confident enough up in front of goal. I saw over and over again Dodd, Alemao, Hughes and Cristiano get into perfect positions to kick or head a goal home, but they just couldn't do it. Don't even get me started on Owusu's penalty.

On the flip side, Sarkies has played his heart out this week. He has improved in leaps and bounds in the last few matches that I am going to say that he was Adelaide's MOM. His ball control was top notch. His turning was great. He actually created space for others further up. His free kicks were decent and nearly on target. His attempts at goal were actually inspiring. I was never a fan of Sarkies to begin with, but tonight's performance has actually given me a liking to him.

Oh and Stephen and General, I didn't manage to find you guys so I sat with a few mates in the General Admission area, centre and 4 rows down from the top of the grandstand.

I agree RU Sarkies was very good and even though he has frustrated the shit out of me, and been the target of my abuse from the stands for so long, after tonight I actually like the guy and hope that he plays a full 90.

I still scratch my head over United's choice to buy Shin & then not play him. I just fail to see why Viddie doesn't use him rather than Hughes.
I was sitting next to Viddie, Stubbins & co last night during the Youth game and Viddie actually shouted encouragement at him during his runs and dribbles - so maybe there IS hope!

Sorry we missed you, RU. I kept my crutches prominent to try and make sure we could be found. The General turned up and proved to be a gentleman and a scholar - of course.

Last night was so poor. We played well until the goal but playing well with no result is something we seem to make an art of. At least for 20 minutes a game.

Shin did ok in the youth game. He was the creative drive behind one of the goals. He seems to be being played as a very attacking midfielder or second forward. At least the young boys can take penalties ans core from open play.

I'm almost embarrassed that I encouraged people to go with my last blog.

Oh, and Sarkies was definitely my MOM. Great game. Heart and skill. What's happened?

I watched the 2nd half of the Baby Reds. To see them lead 2-1 and then lose the lead around the 89th minute really summed up everything. It will be interesting to see how the Lady Reds go. They have played 2 shocking seasons now. At some stage, coaches like Vidmar and Barnett have to be held accountable.

I would never feel embarassed mate. You did your bit like you do every day and week promoting the team and the game. The club as a whole should be embarassed of itself. We did nothing last night but support the team; both financially and morally.

The best part of the night was listening to Stephen's "words of encouragement" to the ref! Pure gold! Sorry you didn't spot us RU - you where about 6 rows back from us, I even had a Carlesburg ready for you! Oh well, Stephen's family were good company - even if his nephew is a BR supporter

Now that I am not so completely pissed about the result, and the way we played, I can see some real positives in the match.

I could not believe the way Sarkies played, the tackles, the passes, the tracking, the vision! He was the only complete player we had on the park.

Hughes coming off, it was lovely to see - but to late, shouldn't have been there anyway.

We did actually control large portions of the game, and here comes the problem: Our entire strike force that is being used needs to be given the heave ho. We can't do any worse by promoting Shin & Monterrosso straight into the starting eleven. If any of the other Baby Reds are decent we should look at them as well. Put both Cristiano and Owusu on the bench, or even better demote them to NYL.

Hughes should just not be getting game time, he is the only true donkey on our team.

There will be more to this rant but I have to much work to do!

There is another thread about Viddie stating " how frustrating it is "

Now I agree with you General about our so called strikers, and giving Shin & Montorroso a gig and that Viddie is not the one shooting so he can't be blamed.
However, it is him that has given Hughes a start in EVERY game, even though it's obvious to 99.9% of the people there that playing with Hughes is like starting with 10 men - actually it's worse 'cause he just get's in the way and stuffs up big time.
So what is frustrating for us supporter's is Viddie's sheer bloody-mindedness in tactics and selections.

Luckily results this week helped us, but leaving our destiny in the hands of others is stupid

I'm still too pissed off/depressed/upset/angry etc etc to post anything without ranting but will leave you with an idea to contemplate...

Is it time to now bench Dodd? IMO he has not been anywhere near the player he was over the last few years (may be due to position but still). Would love to see a completely different starting side against GCU to see how we go. Bring in Shin earlier, start Alemao etc etc. Whats the worse that can happen, we lose yet another game?

Im sorry to a lot of people here for what I’m about to say but…Alemao…Seriously???
Has anyone ever kept an eye on him during a game??? Granted he has relatively (and remember I said relatively) good ball skills and can find a pass or two but if I ever see him break into a sprint, even once, I will eat my own balls. I hate sounding this uncouth but this is what has happened to me over the course of this season. I think Alemao’s attitude stinks. He jogs around, never puts in for a tackle and spent so much time hiding between players as far out on the wing, away from play as he could on Friday night I forgot he was out there for the middle third of the game at least. Still, pretty much everyone went missing during that time. He was brought in as a right full back but was found out in his first few games as he never tracked his man and was always caught drifting aimlessly between positions. This is why it has been hard for him to be a regular starter because he couldn’t play the position we bought him to play, so has spent a year (+) being reinvented with varying success. Alemao rant is now over because he still wasn’t/isn’t one of our worst.

Looking forward to the report card Stephen.

Too depressed about the whole club at the moment to really add much to the discussion.

There need to be lot of changes made. We all know what the changes are. For some reason the powers that be refuse to make the changes. Thats where the depression sets in.
