It really pees me off that on a day where some volunteer RFS guys lose their life fighting fires that climate change protesters take to the city streets to protest their agenda and have to waste law enforcement resources...
If these people had half a brain and wanted to make a point, they should fork out for tickets to Beijing and protest against the Chinese government.
Protesting for change in Australia would barely show up on any emissions graphs.
If they REALLY want to make a difference to climate change situation they should target their efforts to the mob who is causing it the most

+xWell picked BN. ...we have a new inductee into the Mensa family.... My fingers are crossed hoping you weren't using Greek slang on this occasion... Did you get your NBN application done yet? If you only have a month it could take 3 weeks just for the NBN tech to get to your house, maybe longer at this time of year. I've been tinkering with my modem settings over the last few days. I managed to improve upload speed by 12% & download speed by 4%. It's not much but I'll take it. I noticed a screen showing I'm approx 850m from the node. That's not good. Anything over 400m & sync speeds drop a lot. The hardware all the ISP's use at the exchange is Telstra's & that hardware uses the Broadcom chipset. In previous generations (ADSL & dial up) any modem that used a Broadcom chipset was better (more stable & faster) for long distance connections. The Fritz!box modems, whilst being the best all-in-one's available, don't use a Broadcom chipset. That leaves limited alternatives in situations like this. What I'm going to do is get a standalone base station for the cordless phones & I've started shopping around for a separate modem, not only based on a Broadcom chipset, but with the fastest processor available. No point getting one with a Broadcom chipset if the processor in it slows it down. The best ones actually look like upside-down spiders with 8 antennas sticking up. I don't really need the wifi, so at least the antennas won't have to be screwed in. It reminds me of wanting the Foxtel sports channel, you have to pay for all the other stuff you didn't want just to get what you do want. The other thing I've done is change my monthly ISP thingy from 2nd highest tier to the highest for a month to try it out. I just missed the monthly rollover day, so I'll have to wait until after mid-January to test it out. Anyway, I'll see how it all goes later....for educational purposes....I must know...

I've been slack again BN so hadn't done anything since my chat on here. I'm leaning towards Internode or iinet off the back of what was discussed here and the fact my bro in law has it 6kms down the road. Our ADSL was/is slower than my 4G mobile connection so on not too fussed. It's my fallback option for a week or 2. Will have it sorted in Jan sometime but all that tech lingo you mentioned has gone over my head. Thanks in any case and let us know if the upgrade package is worth it.

One thing worth bearing in mind when choosing an ISP is whether they allow you to bring your own modem or whether they limit you to the crappy pre-configured ones they provide (refusing to give you the settings to configure other better performing brands yourself). Telstra do that, so do most others. They get people to sign up on long contracts, send them a crappy modem, then the customers discover the wifi doesn't reach all their rooms or it's too slow or it doesn't sync to the exchange as fast as other models. Another obvious downside is you can't buy a spare modem & keep it on hand ready to swap over if there's a failure, you have to go through the whole return process with your NBN & phones down for days or weeks on end. I've never been through Aussie Broadband but they allow you to bring your own modem & they get a lot of disgruntled customers signing with them from Telstra & others. I bought my own modem for Internode & they just gave me the settings over the phone, so I can use that to experiment with other modems through them. Internode is a subsidiary of Iinet, but they are both managed differently, so be careful if you sign up to anything blind. Edit: I found a link/thread that adds another important point to "bring your own modem". The phone/VOIP service. Some ISP's are allowing you to bring your own modem to avoid the slow crappy one provided, which is great..but...they wont give you the settings to get your phones working & insist you have to use their pre-configured crappy modem or you'll only have internet without phones. It looks like Telstra, Optus, iinet, TPG & others are all on that list. https://choice.community/t/byo-voip-modems-wi-fi-routers-which-rsps-allow-them-and-which-dont/16601There's also a few ISP's to avoid altogether for not providing the access speeds you pay for. Dodo & iprimus (possibly Exetel as well) are known for that. Their rort is to force customers (that are none the wiser) to share bandwidth with other customers. They whitelist any speed test websites they can find, so if you test your net speed on a speed test website you get unimpeded (as fast as you pay for) results, but all other websurfing, downloading etc is shared bandwidth & slowed, worse when more of their customers are online at the same time. That would be a nightmare for their customers trying to watch Netflix etc. They'd get sick of the sight of that buffering symbol going round & round with one interruption after another from the line congestion.

If you're happy with the price and you don't go with Internode then you deserve all the customer support frustration from whoever the stiffs are you do go with.
Internode customer and tech support is 2nd to none, end of, fullstop. And it extends past the product you buy from them, if they can help with anything else they will no questions asked
If your dick stops working ring them first, they'll have someone knows something about it.

Not that long ago they helped me pair bluetooth headphones to a digital optical to bluetooth converter for my TV. Headphones and converter were from the same manufacturer mind you and the bloke from JB Hi-FI assured me it was plug and play.
Which it wasn't.
So I tried Internode, knowing this has nothing to do with them but remembering them helping me out with my XBOX which had nothing to do with them either. They found the specs on the web and asked if I had the switch on the back selecting analogue in or digital in (which were just symbols I couldn't understand).
Anyway, it was on analogue wasn't it. A simple error but enough for an analogue age refugee for me to almost declare it a fail and return it to JB with a gobfull.

the kennel saying westigers or bulldogs are front runners for josh addo car signature for 2021 season i clicked on to the daily telegraph story but its only by subscription so make what you like of this story but in history the bulldogs would never ever pay big $$ for a winger so i wounld hold my breath if anything id still think latrel mitchel would be a far better buy due 2 he can play fullback ,centre , & a little bit of 5/8

I don't think the club is in any rush, or has any money to sign outside backs...
We are giving young guys a run and seeing how that goes - Plan A.
If we get some cap relief for Foran, we have money to spend, but it is a matter of priorities what position we spend that on Plan B.
All other plans are for 2021, or need some other club paying most of the salary for 2020.

Great news regarding Jackson... The only other player the Dogs should lock up before the 2020 season kicks off is Wakeham.
Tolman is solid, but we need to move on. I hope he picks up a SL contract.
Elliott should stay @ much reduced rates.
RFM is still a keeper, especially the way he ended the season.
Cogger would be on peanuts & is still a keeper.
All others off contract... I doubt would be re-signed.... like Lichaa, Fualalo, Nu Brown etc..... will struggle to get a contract elsewhere.

For the forwards we need 1 more player with size, aggression and the right attitude. Tols and Elliott all depends on the asking price.

I never understood wind, yet I know windmills very much. I've studied it better than anybody I know, it's very expensive. They're made in China and Germany mostly, very few made here, almost none. But they're manufactured. Tremendous if you're into this, tremendous fumes, gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right. So the world is tiny compared to the universe.
