+xAnother tight De Groundhomme medium pace over. He must be one of the top all rounders in world Test cricket. He bowls 120k dibbly dobblers. His best asset is accuracy. He does stand up the seam so can get swing or seam if it is there. He is the sort of change bowler any team will value.

There is swing and seam in this deck. Sensible to pitch it up then.

+x+xBaggers, just as they showed Boult to Burns deliveries, including the last shot, as soon as the ball moves away from him the width between bat and pad is far too great. Yep it is. Proves my point about he and Head.. Wade too.. Smith and Marnus are our most technical batsmen. Warner has improved his technique the past coupla years. The game is now in a holding pattern. When are we going to start lifting the rate or is Tim's plan to bat till stumps and send em in tomorrow morning. I’m also thinking he wants to give the bowlers a spell.

The MCG pitches traditionally improve for batting as the game progresses.

They’ve bowled a few loose balls to Burns.
He has smacked a few boundaries and is accelerating the score.
Like most batters, his stats show over time he struggles against good length balls just outside off stump.

If the pitch is expected to be easier to bat on tomorrow and last day.. then I see Tim batting till perhaps lunch. Put any slim chance of the BCs chasing a target beyond their reach.

+x+xThe last Warner Cover or Off Drive had a gap between bat and pad. Is this acceptable for this shot, Baggers? His coach will say not. But Davey has always relied on his eye and has scored mountains of runs doing that. The shot Warner got out for by stepping outside leg to have a swat was awful.

But Davey has always relied on his eye and has scored mountains of runs doing that. The shot Warner got out for by stepping outside leg to have a swat was awful. Dumbfounding actually. Looked like a shot to signal that they intended getting a crack on and perhaps have 10 overs at them before stumps. But Marnus and Burns are just going along steadily since tea.

What a waste- good fielding NZ and I think Latham in particular.

Aus now 2-100.
I think 419 in front, which could be enough for a declaration.
The Kiwi Army chanting like the Barmy , have more fans here than NZ!

Hard to believe Burns who has looked easily our batsman struggling most, still there.
No -he’s gone!
Santner takes a wicket, caught behind by the keeper.

Next ball Smith holes out to an innocuous Wagner short ball at deep square leg.
4-110.
Kiwis 430 behind.

Wagner has Smith his bish. Sell it it anyway you want. Wagner averages less than 15 to Smith. He owns him...
More short balls coming Steve...

+xsmith is going to get out hit wicket with these bradmenesque strokes right? Caught this time! Head comes in higher than Wade at number five. Wade was number five in first innings - I think?

Wagner is in the 2019 icc team of the year already.
Calling it first.
He is.
If not - dissolve the icc and get rid of them. :)

This is what I dont like about not keeping the foot on the throat by sending the BCs back in. You can take things too easy by adding to what maybe already a winning score. When Steve Smith was asked what were his plans for the rest of the day.. he said have some fun. We needed to be having that fun by sending the Kiwis back to the dressing room.. not giving them a morale boost and a miniscule sniff of saving this game.

I would have followed on. If we lose 6-30 from here its still not a sniff

We have struggled to score at a reasonable clip with a few partnerships, I agree.
