not great for the stats but there are back to back tests with four specialist bowlers and heat wave. I would have followed on. If we lose 6-30 from here its still not a sniff

Bumrah, Wagner, who else are the bowlers of the year? Cummins, who else?

;)

Congrats Wganer on 200 wickets...

\give us 4 more years and make it 300...

Love you champion military medium.....

No batsman can handle you champion... Not even Smith... :)

Wagner has great stamina.

2nd quickest Kiwi to 200 wickets is an achievement.

probably don't care about the total from here. My guess is they declare 10-15 overs after the start of play tomorrow to prevent having to bowl 3 sessions in a day

For his pace he must hit the pitch hard.

Most players of his speed would be punished a lot more for bowling short.

I wonder if Paine wanted to rest the bowlers a bit?

Expect that is the main concern DC. Tim wants our bowlers as fresh as possible for the last assault.

H.. being Josh.. so we go in with these three quicks.. or two only.. and two spinners depending on the deck. I am pushing for Cummins and Pattinson as they bowled well in tandem in this game.. relentless spells never releasing the pressure.

This tour is horrible.

This must be what us fans experience when touring UAE or SL or  the first part of a Bangladesh tour...

An absolute lesson in fast bowling from our quicks today. Eight of the wickets caught behind or in slips, with an lbw and a bowled, says it all. Something the kiwis don't seem able to do, but you're unlikely to succeed here if you can't get batsmen nicking and are unlikely to get them nicking if you won't bowl near the stumps. The 125 half trackers have their fans excited though lol.

This kiwi attack is looking the most over rated I can remember, at this stage. Certainly not in the first four pace attacks in the world, probably not even in the first five (Windies are probably better). Quite hilarious considering all of the pre series bragging lol. At least Santna now has a wicket though (1 @ 250)!

With Warner and Smith being reasonably quiet (for them), it's very good to see other batsmen scoring runs. Marnus has been great again. To be fair though, it has been a bowler dominated series and Smith is still 3rd in the runs tally so far (just in front of Warner). Certainly well clear of any kiwi batsmen.

At least Warner is giving us some sort of start and a couple of Smith's innings have been instrumental in setting up both matches (first match where he stayed with Marnus through a difficult period under lights, this match where he stuck around and got us into day two with Head).

Starc is only one run behind Williamson and only needs 15 more runs from this innings to overtake five of the kiwi top six lol.

I don't like to speak too soon but the Kiwis have been very disappointing so far. They haven't really been any better than Pakistan. Better bowling perhaps, yet far worse batting (against our "rubbish" attack no less lol).

India destroy wi and aus. SA destroy eng and Aus. WI destroy eng and Ind.

Seems the attacks right now are

1 India 2 SA 3 WI 4 Aus 5 Pak.NZ.SL (teams that win in Asia but not Aussie) 8 Ire 9 Eng 10 Afg 11 Banglaedgesh.

Knew and said before the first test the kiwi attack was not upto it in Aussie conditions with  a Kookaburra. NZ need a Dukes or clouds, or spin, we dont't have bowling 140 plus well on a piece of baked concrete like only India, SA, and sometimes Aus at home do when not losing to SA or India.

Its time for NZ bowlers to sandpaper the ball to get back into this match.  Just joking. We'd never cheat like that in NZ cricket. ;) No true and self respecting non penal convict colony cricketing nation ever would

Just when people got over the underarm, they sandpaper the ball, 40 years of these jokes ahead, guys. 40 years - minimum. Dec and Baggers will be dead.

Even I might be or close to it.

40 more years of sandpaper jokes.

Its like Gregan saying 4 more years,  but its 40 more years!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, I don't like to speak too soon (he who laughs last and all that) but this is going to be a massive effort for kiwis if they're going to save this match. It looks like they'll be 500 or so behind with five sessions to play. Considering they haven't batted out more than 65 overs in an innings so far, would be some massive turnaround that.

It might also be a scenario where Australia performs well on home wickets, which take a while for visiting teams to adapt to.

Williamson is a class batter. Surely he will find form soon? He did in the last series in Aus.

The first match that excuse could have carried some weight, but not here. This isn't a totally alien type of wicket to the kiwis by any stretch of the imagination. They won the toss, with a greenish tinged wicket under grey skies, and simply couldn't make use of it.

They do have some quality for sure and are a likeable group of blokes. They have no excuse here though and it would be the same if it were played in NZ, we've simply blown them away.

Paddles love knocking our pace attack.. not world class. Then if Cummins, Hazlwood, Pattinson and Starc are not world class then mr so called cricket guru, the current Black Caps attack is barely Sydney Premier cricket class.

To be fair, you could probably find another much better spinner in Sydney grade cricket than Santner. We already have once with Sommerville. And Southee and Boult are pretty innocuous at the best of times without swing. I am sure there are seamers in  the Sydney comp, if not NSW team at least, that would have been more threatening on this MCG pitch than Southee. (I don't think Boult was quite right, he is normally a bit better than this. But I didn't expect him to do much outside of a very new ball).

I really thought the there would only be 2 things NZ bowlers could do to trouble Australia, Wgner's bouncers and getting you guys under lights with a new ball in Perth.  A slow swing attack doesn't work in Australia. How many times does one need to watch Anderson, Hoggard and all those English swing bowlers just be limp in Australia.
