Jamo in the bench. Cassio returns to Left Back after spending all season in Left Midfield. Cornthwaite, Owusu, Monterosso promoted. Too early for me to call, but i feel these big changes may disrupt the team again.

The weather is intolerable. Everything's dying down here. Wish for life. Pray for death.

Shin to bag his first A-Leagu goal and provide some assists to Monterosso. Owusu to score at least once.

It's a real pity that Flores is not going to start until the ACL.
I was looking forward to a Flores - Owusu partership at the start of the new year.

Still 2010 must be better for us!

- Well by all reports they're playing much, much better yet still didn't get the 3 points!

We either have a rubbish squad where Vidmar cannot make changes

OR

He's going to play this 11 and go down with the sinking ship.

We will not make finals, we will get smashed in Asia and this club is a joke.

Eugene Dadi leaves Perth (consistently scores) and signs with Wellington FOR FREE and scores 2 on debut. Good to see he was on our radar. Charlie Miller is a playmaker who can play. Left Brisbane FOR FREE and has played well at Gold Coast. Good to see he was on our radar.

But thats ok we have Flores sitting in quarantine with Wang Wang and Funi awaiting clearance. He's only taken 4 years of negotiation to get here. He'd better be worth it. $29 to sit in the heat and watch panda's sleep under a tree. $26 to sit in the heat and watch 10 red rocks. Neither one is value for money. Each as boring as the other.

Blah blah blah we were unlucky, we had chances, we deserved to win, we played well, the ref hates us, my chips were cold, the meter maids aren't as hot as i thought, eagle boys pizza is better than dominos, cavill ave needs a facelift, the line at qantas was too long, we outplayed them, we need an inner city stadium, losing ognenovski hurt us, we need an owner, we're showing it on the track, we're frustrated and not sure whats wrong, flores is coming, Travis is a great leader, I was coach of the year last season, the team knows it has to lift, the FFA is out to get us, Bianco left us, you are all p1ssants, blah blah blah blah blah politics blah blah blah. Over it the team is sh1te and once again im over it. vidmar can pick me up and drive me to games and i'll still hate him. Jamo in, Jamo out, Cassio a striker one week, left back the next, You put your rudan in, you put your rudan out, pantelis holds viddies piscolo and he shakes it all about. He is guessing, plain and simple, he doesn't know who to pick, where to play them or how to fix the problem. He's guessing, its definately over and he needs to go. Bring in someone who has ANY sort of experience.

Max, i'm in stitches... and i guess that's what's sad about it all. I'm just learning to laugh at our team, day by day i'm learning. It beats being angry all the time.

PS: i'd rather go see Wang Wang and Funi. They sit around, eat and sleep all day, but at least that's what we expect from them.

Let's hope Aureckmal Vidullah doesn't become a zoo keeper at the Adelaide Zoo... Wang Wang and Funi might lose their heads for sitting around all day.

Fyfe has a potential combo knee/ankle injury, unknown length of recovery. Don't swear often but Smeltz is an absolute mother fucker.

While Smeltz tackled like the striker he is I can't point the finger at him - it was the dickhead that calls himself an assistant referee ( I have very rarely seen these guys assist )

Us supporters have had to watch Kevin " the animal " Muscat get away with shit like this for years.
It just hurts more because the wanker then went and scored. ( are GC like MU, in that the ref adds time UNTIL they score! )

Glad you liked it Unit, good to be here. I was thinking of applying for the Adelaide United coaches job when they advertise but then I realised I'm over qualified as I have coached one game of under 6's. Apparently thats a little more experience in the coaching department than Viddie has. Oh well. Next week Shoot magazine from England has 3,4,3 as its formation of the week so once Viddie studies it and learns a new formation we could see some changes this week***

***Please note any changes in formation are highly unlikely. By changes I mean Cassio will play in the only position he hasn't played (goalkeeper), Cornthwaite will come in for the injured Fyfe but only if his parole officer allows, Cristiano will play a full 90 minutes (I hate that word play. It implies he does something) So Cristiano will stand on the spot for 90 minutes, Our fearless leader will run twice instead of once, Lucas will serve beef sausages instead of lamb at the weekly 'players soul searching' barbeque, Owusu will realise not even the water from the upper murray wants to come to Adelaide, Flores will added to the 'do they dont they exist list' with unicorns, the loch ness monster and bigfoot, Viddie will lose it because extra chewies have gone up 10 cents a packet so stubbins will have to pass it on before the flavour wears off, training will be held at henley beach, greenfields adventure park and the river torrens riding bikes, anywhere where there is no ball or goals, pre match they will run themselves into circles so by the time kick off starts everyone is dizzy chasing cones and no one has actually kicked a ball or heaven forbid shot at goal.

Ahh season '09-'10, blame it on anyone but the people where the blame surely lies. Bring in Malcolm Blight. He culled the dead wood, got a roasting by the media for it and won 2 titles. Nah its just easier to let sleeping dogs lie and keep playing the same mindless crap.

Yeah, I just read on the AU website.

And here's something rather exciting:

Quote:
Flores keen to make an impression for Reds
Monday, 11 January 2010

Adelaide United FC’s latest signing, Argentinean playmaker Marcos Flores, has arrived in Adelaide and is ready to make his mark for his new club.

The 24 year old attacking midfielder, who has signed a two year deal with the Reds, touched down from South America last night before meeting up with United Coach Aurelio Vidmar.

Flores has been high on Vidmar’s radar for the past year, and now that the Reds boss has got his man, he is looking forward to what Flores will bring to the team.

“We’re really excited about Marcos coming here. We think he’s got some great qualities at the pointy end, he’s probably a few weeks away from some good fitness but we’ve got five weeks to prepare before we start the Asian Champions League,” Vidmar said.

“His technique, his ability to beat players, scores goals and he’s got very good vision in that front third, and they’re some of the qualities that we’ve certainly been missing in the midfield. Marcos will just be another piece of the puzzle, we’ve still got a bit of work to do in that area but that’s something we probably haven’t covered this year.”

“He’s really happy to be here…and we’re really thrilled to have him so we welcome him and we wish him all the very best.”

Flores will be available for the Reds’ AFC Champions League 2010 campaign, which starts with an opening match day blockbuster against reigning AFC Champions League title holders Pohang Steelers at Hindmarsh Stadium on February 24, but Vidmar said it was unlikely that he would play some part in the club’s remaining six games of the Hyundai A-League season.

With United already having its full quota of foreign players for the domestic competition, Flores would need to come in as a ‘guest player’, a position that would only see him able to play two of the final six matches.

“At this point he’s not (playing in the Hyundai A-League) but we’re not ruling that out,” Vidmar said.

“There are certain rules that we need to abide by, one of which is that no guest player can play the last four games of the regular season, meaning he would only play a couple of games. For us, as great as it would be to sneak him in, we also don’t want to risk him so we’ll make sure he’s right for the ACL.”

The move to Adelaide is Flores’ first to an overseas club, having spent the majority of his career in Argentina before playing out his most recent season with Chilean club Curico Unido, and he is keen to make an impression as the Reds attempt to repeat their AFC Champions League feat of 2008, in which they reached the Final.

“I’m very happy to be here. My expectations for the team are the best and I think I can be a very good asset for the club,” Flores said with the assistance of an interpreter.

Although the language barrier may be a concern initially, Flores promises to work on his English but Vidmar will be hoping all of his talking is done on the pitch.

Ironically Flores and the pandas were released on the same day (I was joking in my last post).

2 things that have crippled United this season.

1. Passion. No body apart from Big Euge, Cassio and Lecki (Jamo here and there) plays with passion. Cassio is an import yet he's the only one i've seen kiss the badge and show genuine passion for the club. (If you dont know what im talking about see Lampard, Terry, Gerrard etc PASSION). Dodd looks like a spent force, Pantelis has found it now that his contract negotiations have stalled (Shows me he's playing for 1 person and 1 person only), Reid may show passion in the recovery room, Cristiano shows passion at the pullmans restaurant buffet. The rest try but very much a group of individuals with no direction, leadership or fight.

2. Injuries. Started with Diego and co last season. Reid etc this season. Bad luck you might say? Doesn't seem to occur at the Victory or other top ranked teams. They sacked the person they felt responsible after a string of calf injuries but seems to me injuries still occuring. Something is not right here.

To clarify, I love this club and want nothing more than for this club to succeed. BUT I also am a big believer in change when change needs to be made. Loyalty is one thing. Results are another. The club succeeded to a degree last season (silverware excluded) with so called infighting and division in the ranks. This was corrected or so we were led to believe yet this seasons squad as stated looks like 11 individuals. There is no team, there is no unity and there certainly is no confidence at any level, player, coaches, staff.

Vidmar blames the players, Petrillo blames Vidmar for the players, the Players blame Vidmar etc etc. Someone stand up, make a decision, play players who want to play for the club and unite the team, the fans, the community. Until that is done and COMPLETELY done (Just thought I'd mention that obviously sacking Costanzo, Salley etc wasn't the problem from last season, they're gone we are still problematic) there will be no success here.

Vidmar out? maybe, maybe not. His attitude is definately out and he can take a lot of the current squad with him.

Just to finish, He said reputation wouldn't win a starting spot. Hmm initially I thought that was for everyone, but it appears only Owusu is suffering under this dictatorship. So many contradictions from someone who should be leading. Jamo didnt play due to contract negotiations and not resigning, yet Pantelis (same scenario) plays. Lloyd scored 1 in 4 games or so, Cristiano has scored 3 in about 20? Yet he still plays. Cornthwaite plays, signs for 3 years, then is dropped. Marrone dying to play, isn't selected, signs for NQL, then plays. Am I the only one that sees the lunacy in all of this???

Professionalism out, we are run like a weekend club. Next week you might see Viddie, Petrillo, Rinaldo and co holding a sausage sizzle fundraiser outside your local bunnings.

Well said MC.

We all have theories and reasons and explanations as to why this season our club went to shit - some of them correct and some of them are complete BS.

It doesnt matter.

Until we have have an owner NOTHING will change - plain and simple. As long as there is no one sitting in the office with the 'owner' sign on the door this club will continue to be a mess. A ship without a rudder. As soon as the new owner/s comes in things will change. We are a proud club. We are a succesful club. We are a club that has true supporters that will live and die with it. We will go on to do some big things in the near future - but for now we just have to sit back with a box of popcorn and watch the movie.

Welcome to the forums Max (can't remember saying G'day before...)! Glad to have another strongly opinionated AUFC fan here :D

Hey guys we are almost at the end of the regular season, which game are we going to have our 442 catch up beer at the match?

BTW loki: saw that as well, still he could have ruined Fyfe. He isn't our best defender, but he has improved to the point where I am happy to see him on the park.

Also I cannot wait to get to Hindmarsh - too long since my last live fix!

The AdelaideNow site is too full of agressive idiots who have no idea how to argue a point without verbal abuse - plus the place isn't properly moderated. Their publication criteria is crazy.

Ah yes General - the end of season beer catch up!!

Looking at the calendar it will either have to be this weeks game or the Brisbane game on 6th Feb - I will struggle to make it to the Perth Tuesday night game.

Hi General and the rest of you 442 Reds. The beer sounds good but it can't be this week for me. I re-snapped my achilles while playing at the beach with my four-year-old last Thursday. Was nastier this time. Just got home from hospital yesterday and now restart the three months of rehab I had already done. Sigh....still, life is good. Anyway, I have to have the foot up for the next 7-10 days so Hindmarsh is out of the question this time. Maybe the Brisbane game in Feb. On crutches - again! :-({|= :d

I tried to find internet access at Flinders Hospital but couldn't. I resigned myself to missing the match and then, as I was going to sleep again, I was switching through my hospital TV and discovered the Life FM broadcast was on a radio channel. It was about 35 mins from the end and I listened to it with ever increasing tension. I'd just decided we would make the win when bloody Smeltz scored! Bad moment. So, if my blog this week gets stuck into him then it may have something to do with my sympathy with career-ending injuries.

OK looks like it is the Brisbane game on the 6th of Feb. We will organise it better closer to the game.
