So anyway on the topic of tickets for the ACL, I finally emailed Ticketek to ask where my tickets were. Here's the outcome:

Hi, I was just wondering why my tickets have yet to be sent out to me.

According to your website, "Tickets purchased during a pre-sale will not be dispatched until after the advertised general public on-sale date." - general sale started on Feb 1. Further more, tickets "may take up to 7 working days for delivery within Australia".

It is now Feb 15, and I have not seen my tickets.

This was followed by the automated reply:

Dear RedsUnited

A Ticketek customer service agent will endeavour to reply to your email in the next 1-2 business days. If the matter is urgent please contact our call centre on 132 849, or visit a Head Office Agency. We will only be able to discuss details of the account with the credit card holder.

Tickets can take 7-10 working days to be delivered, registered post items may be at your local post office for collection.
At the request of the promoter some events may have posting delayed, please check the My Ticketek page for the event you have purchased for as it may include updated information.

Thank you for your patience.

So I thought, 'Great, they didn't read my email...' Until I received this:

Response (Ticketek Online Support) - 15/02/2010 03:20 PM
Dear RedsUnited,

The tickets for the first match are being mailed at this time,
Please see below regarding the other two games,

Ticket suppression is still in place for 24 Mar 2010 Event and 27 April 2010 Event.
*When suppression is lifted for the 24 Mar 2010 Event and 27 April 2010 Event, collection will ONLY be available from Hindmarsh Agency - 118 Port Rd Hindmarsh or patrons can wait for tickets to be posted out to them.*

regards,
Darrell.

So going by that, all pre-ordered tickets should arrive in the mail this week. The tickets for the Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Shandong Luneng games are still suppressed by the AFC, and won't be available until later for pick-up from the Hindmarsh outlet or by post.

Hope that clears it up for everyone else going through the same problem as I did.

Thanks for your persistance RU, now my mind is eased somewhat, but I couldn't figure out why it took so long for them to issue just a receipt!
Why they couldn't print the tix there & then still baffles me

Okay so I'm looking at our opponents from Asia, and let's see what we're going to be up against:

Pohang Steelers
Current Asian champions.
- their squad includes Mota (who was with Seongnam Ilhwa last we played them), Kim Jae-Sung (recent national team call-up and has already scored once in his 3 caps) and Seol Ki-Hyeon (former Wolverhampton, Reading and Fulham player - capped 83 times for South Korea)
- we have defeated them in both home and away legs in the 2008 group stage

Shandong Luneng
Our sister club in China
- we have lost both our previous games against them in the 2007 group stage (one game due to a Valkanis own goal... oops! :p )
- they have just signed a young Dutch striker on loan just for the ACL - Fred Benson - how ironic that we also just signed a Dutch striker for the ACL too.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima
Viddie's old club
- never played them before
- I watched a few of their bigger league games last season, and they were definitely mixing it up with the likes of Gamba Osaka, Kashima Antlers and Urawa Reds.
- most notable player might be Hisato Sato - being capped for the national team.

Overall, I believe each team is winnable for us. The fact that we've played against two of the clubs before, and the third one Vidmar is familiar with, I'm sure we can do well in the group stage.

adding a couple of points,

Pohang- Kim Jae sung scored a beauty against Japan yesterday, bringing his talley to 2 goals in 4 games, they also have Noh byung joon, who was ACL MVP last year, and Shin hyung min who is a capped international. Seeing as how Pohang's key players would be tired as hell from national team duties, and seeing as this is a completely new team from last year, I think AU is going to beat them next week.

Shandong- AU actually held them in China for the 2nd leg. From what I've seen, this is a ridiculously dirty side, and grassrolling is its second nature. It is going to be very important not to concede first. Considering internal turmoil in the CSL and it's affects upon clubs, I think Shandong may be the surprise weak link in this group.

Hiroshima- no idea...but I assume they are good.

Cheers DaWoo!

As did mine. Along with all this other advert shit. I didn't realise my ticket was in there until I tipped my envelope upside down. Shame they didn't include one of those ticket card holder things that Venuetix had last year.

As outlined above, I believe that the tickets were withheld by the AFC, and were only released today.

I tossed the envelope to my son and said: 'you might be interested in this'.

He dug through it and gave me a teenager's wtf look - the tickets were still in the envelope and he hadn't noticed them. ](*,)

If I hadn't seen them when I'd first opened the envelope, they could easily have been thrown out

Haha! I decided to get General Admission tickets as opposed to my Gold Members tickets for the ACL. I thought what's the point when my allocated seat was being taken over by AFC anyway. :(

So yeah, forgive me if I happen to steal anyone's seat! :p

Id like one with my head super imposed over Jim's

For what its worth I'm gonna have a guess at a line-up...
Its gonna be interesting to see if all four players make it into the line-up for the first game.
There may be a temptation to ease a couple in.
Either way here's my guess :

.....................Gelekovic.............
Marrone/Mullen....Boogard..Fyfe......Jamieson
....................Griffiths.................
.....Dodd..........................Pantelis/Cassio
.....................Flores................
..............Leckie...........Van Dijk...............

My main problem with this is dropping Barbiero as his last few games(even leaving aside goals)have been great after a bit of a bad patch.
Or if the trusted 4-2-3-1 is to become our template again perhaps...

......................Galekovic..................
Mullen.........Boogard......Fyfe.......Jamo/Cassio
.................Griffiths..Marrone.............
..Dodd...............Flores..............Leckie
..................Van Dijk........................

Either way it's a team that would probably have won the A-League this season if you think about it.
Its a pity 2 of the newbies are on 6 monthers for now but still can't complain.

Now that we have so many good quality players to choose from to make up the line-up it's much harder to pick... :(

Hopefully with all this competition for places in the starting line-up, we won't have the problem of underperforming players *cough*Hughes*cough* making up our squad.

I also agree that Barbiero should start as he has been a gun lately. Let's hope van Dijk delivers for us and that he's not just in it so that he can get his foot into the door of another Asian club.

Anyone catch the Q & A with Sam Ciccerello on RTI this morning?

It seems that van Dijk got shirt #9 and Boogard got #3 ( Cristiano's and Alamao's numbers ) because of squad sizes and number resrictions placed by the AFC.
Also he said that there had been NO in-fighting at AU this year - a political answer methinks, and that Alan Young is a passionate football supporter > well time will tell us that!

Yeah, for registration of playing squad for the ACL, players must be numbered from 1-30 sequentially. Since Alemao and Cristiano weren't going in the first place, it makes sense that those numbers would be used for Boogaard and van Dijk respectively.

I can't imagine what in-fighting could or would have happened seeing as we didn't have an owner or board to fight with. :p Players v manager maybe?

Meanwhile, I heard the internal trial match on Thursday morning went well - with most of the ACL squad on the pitch.

Back. Sarkies has now been added to our injury list with a broken leg after 5 minutes into the game. I arrived at Hindmarsh at about that time, and could hear the frantic ref whistles as I was making my way through the tunnels to find a seat. No idea who made the tackle, but apparently a loud crack was heard by fellow audience members.

The team played pretty decent football, I thought, but Shin still looked weak on the ball, and his touch wasn't very good. I think I might be being a little too harsh on the kid, as he's one of the players I could recognise - doesn't help when the youth team changes their shirt numbers every darn week.

Reid was back playing. Some clever moves by him, but literally fell over the ball a tad too many times. He was very good at marshalling the midfield like we know he can, but he received a nasty knock deep in injury time which didn't look too good, but he played on anyway.

Perth managed to score right at the death, in the 3rd or 4th minute of injury time to win the game 1-0. Either team could have gone away with the points, but it seems our up-front impotence has been passed on from the senior squad to the youth squad.

OK guys, I just went and bought my tickets for the ACL and they told me that General Admission (that's not just you, General) was booked out and I had to buy reserved seating.

Now there could be two reasons for this. 1) Theire system is stuffed, in which case I will have to fight them for a refund when I turn up at the game and the GA seat are half empty. 2) The GA seats are actually sold out!

Now I would prefer the latter and it would explain a lack of advertising. But I think it might be the former.

Either way I'll be there - in gold seats - come Wednesday night. \:d/ Still on crutches. :(

AFC reserved allocation may not have been exhausted as of yet, or hasn't been released for purchase yet. Normally more GA tickets will come on sale on match day.

I bought GA tickets for the two games I'm attending. Should be fun. GO YOU REDS!

Where they member allocation tickets or general public tickets? I assume we have a certain number of tickets allocated to us. The Steelers get a certain number, the ACL/AFC get a certain number and then a certain number are reserved for the public...

I may have been living under a rock but have adelaide unvailed their ACL shirt or are they just wearing the same regular one. There was a poste in the paper yesterday and it had galakovic in one with i think it was study adelaide as the front of shirt. But I cant find anything showing the rest of the strip anywhere.

maybe it is the same as their last one? They were sponsored by the state government for that one...
