Nah we good, 8 trophies and in recent years as well, Brisbane still living in the past under Ange with 5. ;)

Preseason cups didn’t count.

We won the Surf City Cup - you don’t hear us shouting about that!

They need to start an Adelaide Utd thread surely !!??

We have one: https://forum.insidesport.com.au/284927/Official-AUFC-Thread

But most of the discussion happens here: https://www.wearethereds.com.au/forum/viewforum.php?f=21&sid=d9e55498a556216bd662c0c8153698dc

Surely it doesn't take a genius to work out that most other clubs have their own dedicated supporters forums outside of the 442 forum?

This is one of the most active threads in 'Australian Football' so I'm mystified as to why a handful of BR fans get so precious about non-fans (it definitely isn't just AU fans, get a grip lol) posting in a thread that is always on the first page of a general football forum. Maybe build a dedicated BR supporters forum?

They exist in great numbers too, and most are very active as well

thetes no problem with general fans posting on here, it’s the bull shit and shitposting that people object too.

There’s the Roar Circus thread for that stuff.

Even if you take off the other 2 pre season cups, we still head either way.

After being good in 16/17, Brown was crap for Roar in 17/18 to the extent that O’Toole took over the left back role, and it was commonly thought that O’Toole was the future. Brown has been unable to hold a place at Victory last season, has been worse this season, and has looked average-poor whenever he has played.
So what do Roar do? Get him back, and apparently will also be getting rid of O’Toole, so if seems that effectively Brown will replace O’Toole.
Progress? Obviously not.

FFS, there is plenty of actual reasons not to like the signing of brown, no need to make things up. Brown played 23 x 90 minute games last season for Vic pretty much holding down the LB role for a team that was 1 point of second place for the whole season. he was never going to compete with Traore this season and it is a waste to have a specialist LB on the bench when the you have a 90 minute player in that position already. Brown has been good enough in training to warrant a starting spot out of position in LW at Vic.

i am a fan of o'toole but he is out of favour with fowler and will likely be gone soon so we need a replacement. JCP would definitely be above Brown in the pecking order if he was not injured but he is and will likely be out for the majority of the season. If JCP regains fitness then we could play him as CB (JCP plays CB for the national team) as a JCP CB and brown LB is better than bowles CB and JCP LB.

Brown may not be a huge improvement over what we have, but O'toole has been deemed dead weight and has not made a squad for ages so may as well bring in someone that fowler will have in contention for a starting spot.

Also brown and brattan are good friends. we dont announce player signings while they are under contract (so if we have signed bratts then we wont know until after SFC have played their last game). SFC seem to have already made all their re-signings and bratts wasnt part of it so i think there is a good chance we are in with a shout on Bratts for next season

I would support another Brisbane team in a heartbeat.  Supported the Roar since game 1 but the Bakries with Aloisi and Fowler have literally destroyed our club.

If true, that the best news I've heard in ages. Brattan and O'Shea would be a good pair to build a midfield around.

Or, plug the leaks and carry on sailing!

Or realise that we play on land and the 'leaks' are to provide necessary ventilation. Also explains why the extra sails we have bought are not having much effect.

What a fan. 3 years of crap and jumping ship.

I suspect he's not alone.  How much is our av attendance down by from 5 years ago?  There may well be literally thousands of Brisbane football fans who feel the same way.

Just a hunch - and that is all it is because I don't believe for a moment that there is any possibility of second Bris team - but I suspect that if another team was established now in Brisbane, there would be a lot of former Roar supporters, utterly over the circus the Roar have become under the Bakries, who would move to the new club.  It wouldn't be jumping shipt, because they've already gone from the Roar.

It is, unfortunately, going to take years to undo the damage done since Mulvey was fired.

He has a young family, (he is either expecting his second child or recently had it). Not sure where his partner is from but his extended family is up here and they are quite close apparently, and his sister is quite sick. would definitely be hard to be away from that with little help with his family.

You are correct, looking at the stats Brown did play that many games last season. What was influencing my thinking was the last part of the season where he did not feature in any of the last 5 A League games (including finals), and only came on as a sub in the 2 A League games immediately prior to that. My recollection is that Victory fans were not that happy with him throughout the season. And lets not sugarcoat this season, he has started 3 times (2 times out of position because of injuries to Victory players), and he is obviously surplus to requirements at Victory. So again our recruitments are squad players.
We also have Powell as a LB/LWB, and arguably he is as good as JCP in that position.
I guess I just don't get why we replace O'Toole with a player who arguably is no better.
And if we are signing Brown on the basis that it helps us get Brattan for next season because he is his friend............???

lol at the Brisbane vs Adelaide comparison. Brisbane has achieved far more than Adelaide. Not even close lol.

3 Championships, 2 Premier Plates, made the finals 8 seasons in a row since 2010. Brisbane's consistency in the 2010's is impressive. Imagine only missing the finals once in an entire decade.

He is, very light. People forget Aloisi's 2 best seasons Brisbane were not paying players for weeks on a regular basis. He steadied the ship quite well. But definitely over stayed his welcome and slowly got exposed more and more as each season went by.

for whatever reason Fowler seems to think the O'toole does not fit the LB position in his setup, and Otoole did look a bit out of place when he was given a shot this season so i am ok with him being let go. I am a big fan of him Otoole and think he will do well in a different set up. but that still leaves us short of a LB. I am a fan of Powel as well but having an 18 year old as our only option in that position is a little worrying. Brown and Powel should have a good fight to make the spot their own which should be good for both players. Brown has shown he can be a good player if he can regain that form then i will be happy. if he cant then JCP and Powel should fight for the spot.

@ Waz any news for any signings in the coming weeks?

My understanding is nothing is a done deal yet and there’s lots of activity, more than we know,  but what is in the media is largely correct:

Brown as an injury replacement for Courtney-Perkins is just waiting on contracts

McDonald is seen as a “holding 9” and replacement for ROD in the starting line up.

Troisi is on but likely a question of Troisi or Brattan, not both.

Inman and “the offer from another A-League club” is false, he’s on a 2 year contract and not leaving without a significant fee.

They are looking at an (unnamed) overseas striker as well, probably for the winter though. The above deals they’re trying to get done now

I simply do not believe that Brattan will rejoin BR.   Why on earth would he leave SFC, the best side in the comp, to join Brisbane????

Salary cap. Sydney can’t fit him in, however with Oniell moving on, that might throw a spanner in the works.

Why is it down form 5 years ago? Because the team ain’t winning. It would be jumping ship because there leaving due to the club being crap on the field, which is probably due to the club being run poorly. Watch all the “fans” come back when Brisbane start winning in a few years time. Glory literally had 9 years of dog shit on the field and you guys are complaining about 3 years of mediocrity....
