Our chances look grim. Beat Syria, then hope we draw a beatable side in the playoff. For once it would ahve been preferable if Japan qualified

But if Japan had won a game, we may be playing them in the QF. We will almost definitely be playing Sth Korea in the semi if we get through. We have drawn with them the last two times... so you never know.

The Olyroos really need to start well and score early I fear the longer the game goes on the Syrians will become more dangerous they like to score a late goal. Our defenders will also need to be smart in the box.

I heard Arnie on the radio saying it's not in his contract to coach the Olyroos (so he isn't 'getting paid' to coach them), but he sees it as an important transitional pathway to the full national team. Some of the teams we are playing have 5-6 members who are full senior internationals, and we only have 2 in Gersbach and Deng (who only played about 12 mins).

If we do get knocked out I hope it is next round. There is a pretty big chance of playing Oceania in playoffs if they use the same rotation. That hasn’t been named yet. Losing such a game would be a disaster.

No he hasn’t been knocked out, but he is long from qualifying.

Payment or not, he has taken on the responsibility.

Also, there is no rotation in the playoffs, its just a random draw.
