Need some urgent help.

A few months I signed up on the AU website to find out membership details, and today I have been sent a season ticket membership, even though I haven't purchased one :o

Have I won a competition?

Do I need to activate this membership, and thats when I'll get charged?

Any help will be much appreciated.

They've done this the last two seasons. It isn't going to be activated unless you pay for the membership, either online, over the phone or in person. They send them to people who have purchased tickets in the last season.

If you want to pay for that membership, just quote the member number on the back of the card, so that they can activate THAT card, and not send you another one.

Getting closer now :D

Forecast for Friday just because I'm bored:
14 degrees with a minimum of 3, high clouds and not looking like any rain. :D

EDIT: Forgot the wind speed, it looks like it will be around 7km/h

In the post yesterday i received a NEW membership card with different membership number etc and it said it was a RED GENERAL ADMISSION ticket.

I had just a week or 2 ago renewed my gold membership and got shit scared that theyd stuffed up.

It turns out that the gold membership i did pay for WAS renewed.

When i called and asked the woman she said to disregard this new ticket but had no reason as to why I was sent it.

I have to say i got a little excited at first coz I thought it was a mistake and theyd sent me a second one by mistake i could give to my friend.

Alas no, but add it to the list of complaints about ticketek i spose

I think it may relate to FNS tickets, but am not sure...

Hi Reds fans, KA is looking for a second Adelaide blogger to join the team. Brenton has escaped his shakles and I'm now all alone. So, maybe you're the one that has the words....

If so, please contact Kevin Airs (online editor) via kairs@haymarketmedia.com.au and let him know that you're interested. You'll probably be asked to send him a test blog to prove you can write and spell (although it's never bothered me!).

Be warned, blogging each week comes around faster than you think and it's best if you also spend some time responding to comments on your blog. Thick skin is recommended - and remember that you have to blog even after losing.

Also important to remember that the aim of the team blogs has always been to provide a fans view. You don't have to be a football expert or prove that your tactical analysis is better than Pim Verbeek's - you just have to love the team and be able to express that in words.

Knowing that there are fewer than four posts at each end of the pitch will be helpful....:)

I think I may have mentioned in the Total Members thread, but with the Red season ticket everyone was sent, it's just the club sending it willy-nilly to anyone who has bought a ticket in the last year. They did this last year as well. You either can pay and activate it, or just ignore it if you're already renewed from the first batch of member cards sent out last month.

Off the top of my head: it could be as RU suggested a miscellaneous " digging " for potential members instituted by the club having your details.........or you may have filled out the enquiry box about membership on the club website and it's just a matter of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing?

But as RU said once you've paid and activated the 1st card that's it!!
I'm sure if you paid again they'd gladly take another payment off you and leave it to you to spot the mistake! ( but luckily you're not that gullible )

Ticketek are only guilty of being a big organisation, they're nowhere near as bad as Telstra or the Tax department

It's definately the old right hand left hand analogy as i do remember expressing my interest AGES ago so they would send me updates on the membership deadlines etc.

In the end I found out on this forum the details of membership

Oh and in any case, sending someone this 2 days before the season really is a last ditch attempt isn't it.

I'm kind of worried about how many members we actually have. The PAX number on the membership I received the other day was 7351 and that includes all the cards that they've sent out, even if they haven't been activated. I'd guess that we wouldn't have anymore than 5000 members signed up at the moment.

5,000 is probably a good guesstimate at the moment. If the theory holds true, match day attendances are usually double the number of members so it's heading towards another healthy 10k average this season.

Of course we always want more for our club. :p

Good to have you onboard. Yeah, seats 1-2 are on the far edge of the grandstand. All seats are quite good at Hindmarsh, and because you're a bit back as well, don't worry too much.

I'm actually a Jets supporter (sorry moved from Newcastle - didn't mention before), although Adelaide will be my second team from now so for every game (bar against Jets) go Adelaide!!

Last time I was at Hindmarsh was for Jeonbuk motors game which was really awesome. Have to say that it was a great game to watch and very exciting. Hindmarsh seems like a good stadium too and was really enjoyale to watch football in a stadium designed for football

Haha... all good. The more the merrier at Hindmarsh.

The Jeonbuk game was awesome. Even though we were knocked out of the ACL, I went away smiling at the effort the boys made. That last minute equaliser by van Dijk was one of the most memorable moments in my football history. :p

i will try and get to as many games as i can...

Glad you came on over :) There is a reasonable number of AUFC fans and mebers on this site, plus a lot of the Roar regulars are here as well.

I hope you submit an application to KA for the blogging spot available!

Another AUFC newsletter just hit my inbox! Incredible! Communication! Yay! May the club keep it up. I especially liked this update on all players:

AUFC Newsletter wrote:

Where the Reds are at

Been wondering about how each member of the Reds’ squad is progressing ahead of the club’s Hyundai A-League season opener against Newcastle on August 6?

The following is a brief run down of how your favourite Reds player has fared over the pre-season and whether they are in line to figure in United’s early season action.

Eugene Galekovic
After returning from the 2010 World Cup as part of the Qantas Socceroos squad, Galekovic enjoyed a short break before resuming training for his fourth Hyundai A-League season with the Reds. Is ready to go against the Jets.

Robert Cornthwaite
Underwent groin surgery in the off season and is progressing well in his recovery. Has gradually been increasing his training workload and is close to joining the main group. Will most likely to be available for selection in Week 3 or 4.

Nigel Boogaard
Preparing for his first Hyundai A-League season with the Reds having arrived from the Central Coast Mariners, Boogaard played in all of United’s pre season friendlies and is likely to make his run on debut for the club against Newcastle.

Iain Fyfe
One of the Reds’ most consistent performers, Fyfe has again not missed a beat in pre season and is ready to lead the Reds’ defence against the Jets.

Daniel Mullen
Ready to go for Week 1 and hoping to continue the form that saw him play every minute in United’s last 10 games of last season.

Cassio
From all reports the pocket rocket has been one of the standouts in pre season. Came back from holidays in Brazil in excellent shape and is primed for a big 2010/11 campaign.

Lucas Pantelis
In the absence of the injured Travis Dodd, Pantelis will lead the Reds out against the Jets on Friday night, and has no shortage of reasons to perform after recommitting to the club for two years in the off season.

Adam Hughes
Despite missing just one game last season, Hughes is determined to make more of an impact in his second season at the club, which has been evident in his work rate throughout pre season.

Sergio van Dijk
The Dutchman is looking forward to leading United’s line this season and hopes to better his 13 goal haul for Brisbane Roar last season. Is ready to carry the responsibility of recapturing the Reds’ goal scoring fortunes.

Marcos Flores
After an impressive AFC Champions League campaign, United’s Argentinean playmaker is fit and ready to test himself in the Hyundai A-League. Has a 100 per cent record in the Hyundai A-League after United won its final two games of last season with Flores in the team.

Paul Reid
After a frustrating and injury interrupted 2009/10, Reid has been injury free throughout the pre season. A stomach complaint kept him out of the Reds’ friendly against Wellington but ‘touch wood’ for Reid and United fans, the midfielder is gearing up for a big 2010/11 season and is looking forward to the season opener.

Travis Dodd
After undergoing groin surgery in the off season, the Reds skipper will miss the season opener against the Jets. Is likely to start training with the main group in four weeks, but will possibly not be ready to play until early to mid September.

Lloyd Owusu
The striker cannot buy a trick as he tries to get himself right and prove his worth for the Reds on the field. Owusu has been battling an ongoing knee problem but no date has been set for his return to full training. The Ghanaian international will be hoping it is sooner rather than later.

Francesco Monterosso
Received a minor setback when he was struck down with a bout of pneumonia, however the young striker is back on the recovery path and has rejoined the main group.

Inseob Shin
Has had a solid pre season and ready to go if called upon to tackle the Jets on Friday night.

Iain Ramsay
The former Sydney FC Youth midfielder has impressed since arriving in Adelaide. Determined to make his mark in the Hyundai A-League, Ramsay is is hoping to make an immediate impact.

Fabian Barbiero
A recurring ankle problem confined Barbiero to a moon boot for much of the off season. Has been restricted to predominantly bike work at training, but he should start running in the coming days. Is still a considerable way from being fully fit and ready to return.

Mathew Leckie
Played with the Qantas Young Socceroos at the Asean Football Federation (AFF) U-19 Youth Championships in Vietnam and is set to be a vital part of the Reds’ attacking set up this season. Is ready to go against the Jets.

Mark Birighitti
Was a standout for the Qantas Young Socceroos in the recent Asean Football Federation (AFF) U-19 Youth Championships and after keeping a clean sheet in the pre season friendly against Wellington, showed he is more than capable if called upon to stand between the posts.

Joe Costa
Having made a full recovery from his knee reconstruction, the 18 year old was training well until he was given a scare when he reinjured the same knee. However, a better than expected prognosis found no major damage and he spent a short time on a modified program, but is now back with the main group

That events section has always been there. It's just it has never been used except for announcing when match days were.

It's good to see Costa is back with the main group. I hope he has a break out season this year as he's well due.

Really? Then they need to be actively using it for more than just the next match day!

Hi all, The Stinger reporting in.:d

Hope this season is much better than the last.

Glad you came on over :) There is a reasonable number of AUFC fans and mebers on this site, plus a lot of the Roar regulars are here as well.

I hope you submit an application to KA for the blogging spot available!

As for our season, well it can hardly get any worse ;)

Yeah I fired off an email last night. Hope to hear from him soon.

Nice :D That's me off the hook for another season (hopefully) as I have too many items on my plate as it is!

Just watching the pre-season rundown on Fox Sports FC, and Ross Aloisi mentioned that Coolen has some doubts about our glorious midfield saviour Flores. He says if he can deliver on his attacking creative play then that's great, but he has doubts about his defensive capabilities and may not be able to provide the structure that the new Dutch coach seeks. Aloisi mentioned Ramsay's name as his possible alternative to fill those shortcomings.

Hrmmm I hope he gives him a real shot before playing it safe with Ramsay.
