If you look back at how Leckie and Ricardinho carried themselves after their injuries on Friday night, you'd have to say Leckie had more damage done. If Ricardinho had a medial ligament injury (tear or otherwise), you'd have to conclude Leckie had his ACL done. Not good news. EDIT: And just as I post that, KA has tweeted: Quote:Adelaide United young star Leckie out for 8-10 weeks with a ruptured medial cruciate ligament of the left knee. Big blow for him and Reds. The side story to all of this is that Keenan has been signed for an initial 6 week injury replacement deal, and Owusu is leaving in the January transfer window. Coincidence? I think not. :p

I would assume we'd sign Watson for the rest of the season in January as well, hence the mention of him still undertaking AUFC's training regime when he returned to Melbourne after his first loan spell ended.
Watson and Keenan have been integral squad members as far as I'm concerned. We need to retain them, and although it's unfortunate the way we got them back, I'm happy to see them here with us again.

Devastating for Leckie. It really showed how important he is to our structure when he went off having helped us to a positive start.

One exciting thing is having Travis come in for Leckie. If he can regain match fitness, his line-up play with Flores has been beautiful. We'll still be strong and Watson will be good back-up for Mullen until he returns. Keenan could well fit in just about anywhere. Great utility. Anyone thinking that the Reds will be incapable without Leckie will be very sorely mistaken.
Huge shame for Leckie and proof the refereeing system needs to change - as does the attitude of some players towards the health and wellbeing of their opponents. From all teams.

Edited by RedsUnited: 1/11/2010 04:28:13 PM Well thats bullshit whoever wrote the tweet isn't a Dr so dont think its a cruciate and have an 8-10wk prognosis as There is no MEDIAL CRUCIATE lig., there is a; medial collateral lig. (inner knee) MCL a lateral collateral lig (outer knee)LCL and 2 cruciate ligaments anterior (front) and posterior (back) ACL+PCL once the swelling goes down they will know for sure. you cant compare 2 different injuries as the grading of the tear may be dissimilar. Ricardinho obviously has a minor tear. If Leckie has done his ACL as well as the MCL then we call it the unhappy triad, or maybe more commmonly known as a "blown knee" ie surgery, at least a year out, possibly needing further surgery, some athletes never regain full skill level or agility. :( I really hope for his sake (and you guys) that its only his MCL. I don't think he should have been played. Full stop. If Dodd was fit he probably wouldnt of been risked. But unfortunately your hands are tied cos you have no freakin owner so you dont have a full squad. Sucks. finger crossed for the results later in week. Huge shame for Leckie and proof the refereeing system needs to change - as does the attitude of some players towards the health and wellbeing of their opponents. From all teams. Definately inept refereeing not helped by ineptness of the FFA, also as I grew up playing for a Scot based club I know how much emphasis they put on " hard-man " defence and chop strikers if they show any indication of getting past. I'm inclined to think Ernie Merrick's coaching is still at this level - speaks volumes for Australian progress and FFA " old-school " attitudes However, as JD surmised Dodd and Flores seem to have this telepathic understanding that always proves fruitful WTF!! - Boogard was listed with an ankle injury that would sideline him for 5 weeks - that was about 10 weeks ago!!! Now ( 8th Nov. ) the website has him listed as 3 weeks. What is going on. We need his ball playing skills, Cornflakes lobs upfield in hope just don't cut it any more. Let's hope the new owners actually tell us supporters the truth - I'm a big boy I can handle it! Let's hope the owners now re-sign Cassio and a few others, AND increase the squad to 23 like every other team, AND continue to play 99% of games @ Hindmarsh. Edited by redcup: 8/11/2010 05:05:39 PM

I read something in the paper jsut before about us never having a club as in a place you can go get a beer day and night and we will have that now/soon North of Adelaide etc...
Id rather we had one at Hindmarsh to be honest as well
I hope this wasn't a desperate move by the FFA to free up funds, though who could blame them, without having really heard what they have to say.
Might be hard for a few of the old soccer heads in the back rooms to handle too id imagine...
do we really see ourselves as the poor little brother of a 2nd tier Aussie Rules team??? (even if technically they have a better profit margin?)

I'm an avid North Adelaide fan and I can't thank Rob Gerard enough for what he did for the Roosters. We were on our knees and on the verge of extinction in the early 2000's, couldn't win a game to save our life from 1999-2003, now we are one of the most stable clubs in the SANFL, a merger wouldn't be the worst thing, because Rob and his staff know more than enough in the sports industry, and this code, more-so than the SANFL, money talks, and he has plenty of that don't you worry about that. Plus, his passion for football and the state of South Australia will hold us in good stead.
This man is proven, now get out tomorrow night and support him, I know I will.
Go you Reds.
