Also, there are a few reports around that we are trying to get Joel Griffiths for the rest of the season.

I enjoy watching him in the NYL and his presence v the ' Nix last year ALMOST resulted in him scoring. However, this year the HAL competition has gone up a notch and fast young men can cut it because of their speed. He hasn't got the speed and although he is a good goal poacher, he just can't handle the extra physicality with the big boys. On another note shipping 6 goals in two games, It's obvious everyones assumptions of a weak defence is well founded. I'm remaining positive, I think with Pablo, Slory & Boogard's improvemnt (injury wise ), or even a new signing we'll be back to where were ( style wise ) at the beginnig of the season. Brisbane losing Langerack will be a big loss, but that ship has already sailed. It's Gold Coast who I'm most worried about! Unless they recruit the Mariners may struggle, but they ALWAYS fly under the radar and I like them, while losing our place to GC would be close to intolerable

Saw on Seven News that Slory is now training with the boys. Good news.
Also saw on Facebook that Usucar is starting to fit in here with the help of Flores.
Oh and Flores' sister is in town... in case anyone was wondering... ;)

Oh and Flores' sister is in town... in case anyone was wondering... ;) All I'm wondering is when are Pablo & Slory going to get out there! Just like you I'm worried about United's lack of ability to put the ball in the net. Keenan and Cornthwaite showed their " boot it high and long " defender philosophy when 6 - 7 metres out, and 3 months ago everyone would have expected Ramsey to bury his chances. A fast finisher to run off Sergio's knockdowns is what I'm waiting for! Oh and a hard man ( like Pablo seems to be ) to throttle Muscat and go in studs up on Archie and get NOTHING just so the Victory get a little taste of what they've been doing for years. Any news today on Estrada? Coolen said earlier he'd have a definite answer by the end of the week.
He missed out on a place in the final 21 for the CRNT for the UNCAF tournament named on Thursday which would have been one of the hurdles we had to jump through but in an interview I saw yesterday with CR media he certainly wasn't very excited by the thought of coming here. Stated he wanted to play in a better league and would be waiting for better clubs to make him an offer. Basically, we're his back-up/last resort. Wasn't really the attitude I wanted to hear.
Not sure whether I really care either way tbh. He's very small, maybe too small for the A-L. Cassio is small but has legs are like tree trunks and he's strong. Estrada's just plain small.
Off course, Coolen just may be a better judge than I.

Edited by puma: 8/1/2011 06:47:55 PM Interesting to hear that Estrada looks small...I've not seen a picture of him. Victory's Costa Rican forward Angulo didn't look like he was physically coping with the A League when he first arrived in Melbourne, but he is playing much better now.
