DAMN!!- Fyfe going to Korea on Jan 20.
Busan - isn't that the club Shin went to? Wonder if he said something to the owners or if it's just that a scout watched a few United games when we were top.

Now will the A-League up its salary cap because losing players at the pointy end of the season to cashed up Korean clubs is becoming way to frequent!

Surely Rini will sign an adequate replacement, as the thought of the last 5 games + finals with Corny sends shivers down my spine!

Well mate he is on a weekend break like the rest of the team ;)

Hoping we can sell off Cornthwaite as well and pick up two more Australian CBs in the window.

When does Devere's contract end ;)

Is Mark Milligan available? Maybe even Eddy Bosnar? Would be great to see him back in the A-League.

Okay, now I don't intend to renege on my AUFC allegiances, but boy were the Lady Reds shit today! Need to address the issue of non locally based players in our squad.

The Baby Reds however were quite decent but just couldn't do anything near the end. Why Valkanis took off Rayner and Kostopoulos confounds me though. They were the most dangerous up front.

Oh, good to see Birighitti, Usucar, Ramsay and Watson in the crowd watching the game too.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention too, Ange Costanzo was with the Lady Reds coaching staff yesterday so it was good to see him and Valkanis back together like the old days.

And Strebre Delovski was the ref for the NYL match. Good to see him back.

Good news all round there. I am hoping the Lady Reds get a complete re working for next season. I still can't fathom how sopme of the other teams had been training together for months before the start of the season and the first time our team had any time together was in the first game of the season.

Looks like Dodd isn't the only United player who could be going to Perth next season. Apparently we haven't offered Hughes a new contract and he's currently considering his options. :-k

A 3 YEAR CONTRACT(!!!!!!!!!) for a semi crocked over 30 year old Dodd...
No wonder he is going and I guess I can't blame him.

Even if the money is no greater there is no way we would have been offering him 3 years.
It will be very very sad to see him go though and I don't look forward to seeing him in puple next season.

He has been great for us and i hope people don't forget that just because he is slowing down now.

Personally I think Perth are absolutely mad

Dodd is slowing down and never looks fit these days... i can't believe Perth are giving him a three year contract!

I wish he could have seen out his career with us- he has been a club legend. I guess he wants to keep playing A League, but knows he is no longer fast enough to compete with the likes of Ramsay and Slory for a team place. Doesn't say much for Perth's ambitions....

Agree that if they have given him a 3 year deal they are nuts. I reckon AUFC was offeringhim a year to year, which makes sense given his age and how he will now be much more injury prone. I wonder when he wants to retire from playing? He must have a plan in place - unless this issue is occuring because he hasn't worked out what he will do when he stops playing.

I am in the same boat now, things are coming to ahead with the business I am looking at buying and I have a second iron going into the fire with another one coming available. In my email to Matt I asked if a catch up after the game on Saturday was possible but wont be surprised if the answer is a no.

The WATR forum gives a pretty good round-up. For some reason I'm having trouble logging in there so I'll add a bit here.

Glenn Elliot spoke with real newbie passion about AU. He's going to be good for us - especially if he spends a little more time listening and a little less time talking in these meetings. He's obviously got great business acumen and believes in AU. The way he laid out the plans for the club really made me believe that it's on it's way to becoming a lot more accessible to fans and a lot more open in communication. There should be a supporters club/venue by next year and this membership committee will just be the start of more fan involvement. I hope that it can become a conduit and amplifier for comments and ideas from the terraces. It has great potential. Glenn is very keen that this committee is about DOING.

Lots of ideas were mentioned. I made a point about the way the players never come to the fans around the fence after the game to sign things or high-five the kids and how that would mean such a lot to the younger fans. He said they'd do it on Saturday! So, let's see.

He's obviously very keen that, although the structure is not-for-profit, we make sure we don't-make-a-loss! Through many comments he gave a clear impression that the new owners respect what has happened with previous owners and administrations (except perhaps the FFA) but are going to do things VERY differently. Less in-crowd and more all-in.

He DOESN'T like forums!! So I guess he hasn't read my blogs! :) He's a country boy and likes face to face stuff. Good on him. But they do need to respect the power and passion of football forums. I think he was pretty pissed off about the news from Travis's management team yesterday.

In terms of the meeting I thought it was pretty poorly thought out to be honest. He wasn't properly introduced and there was no structure that allowed for people to speak unless they were prepared to jump in. So, of course, some did and some were silent the whole time. Quite how they are going to decide who to choose therefore became a little confusing. Maybe they knew already. It doesn't really matter in that everyone in the room was a passionate Reds fan and would quite probably all do a decent job. Just begs the question of how a meeting structured in that way could identify the talent they need. Considering we met in a bar it was little strange that there were no drinks of any kind offered (water at least would have been fine since most people had come straight from work). As for Coopers.....we can dream. :d

All in all the meeting left me feeling like things were on the up in this very important area of building a close and real relationship between the club and the fans. In the past it's been a pretty distant relationship and I think many fans would be justified in thinking that, despite our loyalty through the tough times, the club has taken us for granted occasionally. In a year's time - if things go to plan - I doubt many will feel like that any more.

So, it was encouraging but we have to wait and see what the action is.

Go the mighty REDS!

That's great to hear about the meet. Glenn Elliot sounds like a pretty reasonable fellow too. Part of the perenial problem with these director types is they are often not in touch with the online media. But still I am on the wavelength with a face to face meeting. Realistically anyone can write on a forum. Its another kettle of fish to come to a forum and express your ideas with passion in front of an audience.
A step in the right direction none the less.

Bring on CCM this weekend.
Looking forward to it, anyone able to confirm or deny Slory being in the side?

Slory isn't in the squad list so one assumes he wont be available - very disapointing :(

Slory was signed on a ten week stint and we've STILL to see him play!!
He only has 4 matches + finals left.
( remember " Pancho " and him being interviewed by the ground announcer, well we've seen and admired Pancho, but Slorey is still ????????? )

If, like has been reported, he's signed on until 2012 I'm wondering if this is another big waste of money that the Reds seem to have tuned to an art form!
