RedsUnited wrote:Cassio is most deserving to be captain, but I think he's a bit too humble to actually fit the role. But agreeing with the rest of you that there's really no one else who could take up the armband bar Galekovic. I think Casio is the next logical choice for captain. Galekovic would be good but I've never been a fan of goalkeeper captains. Maybe a a VC role for Eugene.

I am disturbed a little by the fact we have 7 spots in our senior team unfilled at this time. But also the possiblities available to fill them! I expect we will see 3 of them to go to NYL players, 1 to go to a visa CB once Cassio becomes naturalised and to see another forward and 2 more midfielders join.

Edited by topgun-jimmy-aufc: 31/5/2011 06:58:03 PM Tease. Pricing structure is going to set the tone, sub $100 will result in many tops being sold.

I'm not as it leaves it til the last minute, which IMO is good. I suspect United will wait 'til the Flores deal is sorted, the thing that concerns me are the one year contracts for Spase & Carevella, and that Carl V is over in Sth. America. ( does he know something? ) Also as May has passed, has anyone heard anything about Cassio or Keenan?

Cassio due for naturalisation in August I heard, don't know about Keenan.

( does he know something? ) Also as May has passed, has anyone heard anything about Cassio or Keenan? 1. We have 17 contracted players for next season. Minimum squad size is 20, so we only really need 3 more positions filled. 2. I also don't mind waiting, as it gives more time for the NYL boys to demonstrate what they have to offer. It also means we can dip into the international transfer market, assuming Cassio gets his citizenship on time. 3. Agreed about Flores. His re-signing is critical in deciding what other players we need in the squad. I'd be looking for another #10 right now to ensure we have cover in that area. 4. Dilevski's one year contract doesn't concern me too much. He'll need to show us what he can bring to the squad before we can offer a longer term contract. 5. Caravella is signed for 2 years. Will be gracing our red shirt at least until the end of the 2012/13 season. 6. Cassio will get his citizenship 'soon' - as has been mentioned by Greg Griffin many times. 7. Keenan is due to become an Aussie in January, so we will have to wait until then to see if he is still required at the club. 8. Carl Veart has been released by the club. Thanks for the " heads up " RU. Sad to hear about Veart as wasn't he the one that pursued Flores and eventually got him in a red shirt?

But hey, that's just me scouting on FM2011... :D

I'd definitely like to have him back as he was great last year.
BUT it would also annoy me that he left us at the most important time of the season to there and then come back after we bow out of the finals race.
Ah well, forgive and forget(I must be getting old). Would be great to see

Anyone going to the Round 1 clash in Perth on October 9th Im planning to buy about 50 tickets in the away supporters/southern stand to just give away as a token of my appreciation for the club and A-league. I have done this twice previously and has been successful and since its our season opening match would love to see these tickets used up by Adelaide supporters. I still need to talk to NIB stadium officials about giving these tickets away at the gate so they don't mistake me for a scalper.

Timmo, I'm seriously(95%) considering flying over to Perf for the opening game, Sunday game means I gotta take a leave day on Monday:( and would consider swapping cold beer for a ticket to the game:) Let me know as we get closer how your preps go:) COYR! cheers

no problems I am going to write my intent to Perth Glory and NIB stadium managment this weekend but would be nice to use up the tickets then have to stand outside the gate. Whoever goes wear red.
I wonder where we should all meet. My preference would be somewhere around the murray street/hay street mall and then march from their down to Pier street over the train line towards NIB stadium. At least the Perth CBD would be a sea of red chanting "UNITED".
hopefully at least 50 people show up otherwise I will have to go to the Gate early on matchday just to get rid of the tickets.

Have emailed Perth Glory now so hopefully will get a response. I am purchasing flights and accomodation this week. If we can't find a meeting place reds suppoters I will be outside in Reds gear at Gate 3 (hopefully get the all clear from staff). Its on the corner of Pier Street/Brewer Street.
Bring on October.

Looks like the SASI football programme is being scrapped as of next year. --Source--Where does that leave the SASI boys? Will they amalgamate with AUFC, and form our academy's U17 squad?

Its only a small indicator, but in today's Advertiser, Adelaide United Chairman Greg Griffin states that he is confident the club will record a modest profit this year.. can't find an online version, but the quote is on page 94 Adelaide Advertiser "REBORN CLUB SETS EXAMPLE"- Val Migliaccio
"Six months ago it was 'have a look and see' but we've embraced the purchase of the club,"Griffin told the studio audience (at the FFDU Fans Forum earlier this year) "We're incredibly enthusiastic, we expect to make a very modest profit this year." So finally some positive financial news for an A-League team:) very happy with that - far from the doom and gloom some would paint the league with.
my addition: Obviously other clubs will need to sort out their financial models too, but considering our big AFL clubs seem to be struggling financially here in SA, it is great news that the Reds can be this close to turning a profit:)
