Problem is people putting great hope in mediocre players.

Someone wrote the other day all our players playing at highest level OS have played AL. It was bout which age players should leave. Being the best at the moment doesn’t mean that they are that exceptional.

It only takes a quick look at Schwarzer v Ryan to see Ryan isn’t even close at the moment. Also the amount of goals he has let in at WC. Games that Sainsbury played. 

Bubble just needs to be popped sometimes. 

That wasn't the purpose of the conversation. the purpose was to make a direct comparison between Australian players who came through European academies vs players who came through the A-League. The a-league players were shown to be playing at a higher level as of right now 

I don't know if it is having hope in mediocre players, or having a genuine belief that some of those players are better than they actually are - Or if there is even a difference between the two 🤔 (probably not).

But I do know football fans do have have a history of leaving all reasoning at the door, and go on blind passion alone (to crazy levels at that).

talent wise better than moore and better than moore in a roos shirt albeit moore hss a more solid european career ... which just helps demonstrate how unlucky sainsbury is career/club wise

Moore was solid but still think Sainsbury is up there with Neill (despite Italy mistake) as 1 of Socceroos best defenders of last 20 or so years. Just much harder to get gigs in a good league these days- especially England

Moore was fantastic for Australia. Unfortunately he stayed a bit too long. Beauchamp kept us much steadier vs Serbia. Moore was a battering ram while Sainsbury generally is more sleek. He did well in midfield in Zürich. Don't rule out a change later in the career.

Agree he was fantastic up til 2006 wc, but after that declined quickly and was a liability. I still think sains has been better than moore was even at moores peak 

interestiny he played bit deeper as a dual 8 today rather than as the 10. This is the reason hes not playing much atm as lennin isnt using a 10 atm

in a 352 you either have dual 6's and a 10 or a 6 and dual 8's who play as box to box mids. Lennon plays the latter for jis 352 meaning rogic is operating deeper. Lennon could tweak the system but christie who was playing as the other 8 is nominally an 10 like rogic or a winger so if lennon played the 2 6's with a 10 variety either christie or rogic would have hsd to have played deeper again as one of the 6's.

In all likelihood he will be elsewhere next season. I will be very surprised if his stay is extended. I just can't see it happening.

Unfortunately for him and Celtic, due to his injuries, he will have to go to the "what if" / "what could have been" basket.
