On a positive note, Thur new Corona virus does prove China can invent something without stealing western intellectual property.

+x+x+x+x+xrather than waiting in vain for a vaccine( none of the other coronoa have a cure despite years of trying) , it would be better to get the obesse on weight loss programs. bascially the more overweight the worse you get the virus, normal body weight you get mild form and recover. Rather than presenting those individuals with a high BMI and or those with Comorbidity’s, as your main cause of concern , you should concentrate on the fact that the WHO is giving the all clear for Wet Markets to reopen.... That's if you believe they were the cause or just the cover story after they screwed up at near by lab USA military chief say the evidence suggests that Coronavirus did not originate in a Lab. In 2018 USA diplomat’s did raise safety concerns with respect to the Wuhan Institute of virology, which was conducting Coronavirus studies on bats. As you say, it all depends on what you/we choose to believe. Yes, this is the Chinese version of Chernobyl. The world won't know the truth until the fall of the regime We can agree on the probability that there is very little Truth originating from the PRC....

Rofl Hundreds of people have taken to the streets across large cities in Brazil, bringing traffic to a standstill and protesting against the country’s social distancing measures.Drivers in the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and the capital Brasilia honked their horns, calling for resignations of politicians who decided to implement a strict economic and social lockdown, forcing most businesses to close for weeks. President Jair Bolsonaro has been fiercely criticising the measures and fired his health minister, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, who had defended physical distancing, on Thursday. On Saturday, Bolsonaro gave further hints that he planned to reopen the economy soon.“People want a return to normality,” the president said in a Facebook Live session. “We’re going to start adding more flexibility.”Brazil is South America’s worst affected country with 36,925 confirmed infections and 2,372 reported deaths.

I'm actually surprised at those numbers, considering Brazil's population. Thought they would've been higher. Somebody mentioned this being China's Chernobyl. I hope this is true, considering what became of Eastern Europe over the next 5 years after 1986...

The CCP has shown in recent times has shown it's not only capable of suppressing the truth within its own borders but able to dictate discourse globally as well. The fact that the world's leading health organisation is backing the wet markets reopening already speaks volumes about China's growing authority and influence in the world. Its actually more frightening than the pandemic itself.

Organisations like the WHO are only as strong as the public's trust in them. This pandemic is certainly going to change many people's views on doing business wth China, and I would assume it will do likewise for how much credit we should give the WHO.

I've got time for Bill Maher, for similar reasons Dan puts forward near the start of this clip. But man, this didn't turn out how Bill envisioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTGBJMDcras

Not sure if this is a gear grinder, a chronicle of a stable genius or it belongs in this thread. Just found out today the US has not confirmed their appointment to the WHO's executive board despite being nominated in 2018. That is to say the US has left their seat at the table empty. Baffling. https://www.vice.com/en_au/article/z3ba5j/trump-is-scapegoating-the-who-but-failed-to-confirm-a-us-representative-for-3-yearsThe U.S. absence at the WHO meant that at the organization’s February executive board meetings, held as the coronavirus was hurtling toward pandemic proportions, America’s seat at the table was filled not with a medical expert with political clout like Giroir but with U.N. Ambassador Andrew Bremberg and lower-level staff.
Bremberg is not a doctor, and while he has some public health experience, he had spent his career in domestic policy before being confirmed as Trump’s permanent representative to the U.N. in Geneva three months earlier in October.

US withdrawing from WHO isn't baffling.
In fact, there should be more countries with the balls to do so over the COVID-19 handling.

-PB You do not find it odd or suspicious that China isolated Wuhan but allowed all international flights to the rest of the world for an entire week?
That the disease didn't infect any other Chinese province but virtually infected every single country on the planet?

Not really, no. The Australian government didn't ban flights from China either until Feb 1st, over a week after the lockdown started in Wuhan on Jan 23rd. They were the early days and governments were still trying to figure out what to do.
That the disease didn't infect any other Chinese province but virtually infected every single country on the planet? That is categorically untrue.

Why would Australia ban flights when the world was napping and asleep at the wheel. no one knew the urgency apart from China who isolated Wuhan in an effort to stop the disease from spreading to other parts of China.
And yet, international flights continued.
Now, if China saw the urgency to isolate Wuhan then, then China should have rung the alarm bells and isolated Wuhan from the world. The economic impact on everyone would be a fraction of what it will be now. But instead of this, we have a rather coy WHO and a China that attempted to cover up the seriousness of the situation.

If you want to talk about facts you also have to talk about the ones that you can't cherry pick or fake to fit the narrative you want. I ignore nothing. But here are the facts!
Wuhan was locked down from other Chinese provinces on the 23rd of January,2020. The action was commonly known as the Wuhan Lockdown.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_coronavirus_lockdown_in_Hubei
Meanwhile, international flights from Wuhan to the rest of the world continued without restrictions for at least 1 week. The USA only stopped flights from Wuhan a full week afterwards, 1 day before New Zealand and 2 days before Australia.
On February 4, the Civil Aviation Administration of China requested that local airlines keep operating international flights to countries that hadn’t imposed restrictions on inbound travel, according to Reuters.
By early February, airlines around the world had cut flights to China, setting off economic shocks in the industry and stranding travelers. Infections climbed past 17,000 in over 20 countries by February 3.Throughout January and February, China imposed lockdowns on its cities as the virus spread internally, but continued to allow international travel abroad.
So the question remains, China saw it fit to isolate Wuhan on 23rd of January but at the same time didn't want to stop international flights to and from Wuhan after that. this is how the virus spread to the 4 corners of the world to virtually every country. By that time, it was too late. Remember when Australia banned flights, the tirade from China accusing Australia of racism and over reaction?

I'm a facts over feelings guy so I looked for proof myself, but as far as I can see the airport in Wuhan was closed on Jan 23rd, no international flights from Wuhan itself other than evacuation flights. The first plane from Wuhan to come to Australia since the lockdown was a cargo plane carrying medical equipment on April 8th. https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/health-safety/a-plane-carrying-cargo-landed-in-sydney-all-crew-quarantined/news-story/51230502ff24b568c262c8e157c7a24e

If Wuhan was freely open to international departures after January 23rd, why were the US organising chartered evacuation flights as soon as January 25th? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-24/cdc-confirms-coronavirus-case-in-new-traveler-outbreak-update

I remember that especially since one of the last flights out was to Sydney and NSW health officials had to rush to the airport that day.

Dead set lucky we live in Australia. (And that Berijiklian, Andrews and Palaszczuk forced Scmo into action when they did.) Here's how the UK's shitshow disaster unfolded. https://www.smh.com.au/world/europe/biggest-failure-in-a-generation-where-did-britain-go-wrong-20200428-p54o2d.html
