Re Grass roots news I got from my Club Association.........NWSF.
a)      Earlier today, FFA released a Statement (Circular No.20-10) titled Game Plan for Resuming Grassroots Football in Australia, whereby it essentially lifted its national temporary suspension of grassroots football activities, recognising the easing, to varying degrees, of COVID-19 related restrictions by the States and Territories of Australia. The Circular is available here;
b)      that on Friday, 15 May 2020, the NSW Government is expected to confirm that, from that date,  outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed;
c)       Following this announcement and the change to the Public Health Order, we are told to expect the release of a framework from the NSW Office of Sport which will expand upon the relaxation of social distancing measures from a sporting perspective;
d)      In anticipation of this, Football NSW has been working on a set of resources to assist the football community understand what this means with regard to returning to training. These resources include Return to Training Guidelines , a two page Return to Train Checklist and finally, a ‘Return to Training’ colour poster that can be printed out and displayed at venues, clubs and facilities and disseminated widely to parents and players.  These resources will be tabled at, and considered by, the Football NSW Board at its meeting on Thursday, 14 May 2020);
e)       These resources flow on from and are in alignment with previous information provided by the Federal Government through the AIS’ Reboot Framework as well as the FFA guidelines (of several weeks ago), albeit with specific reference to football and developed locally for the NSW environment;
f)        Following the release of the NSW Office of Sport’s framework, we will make any necessary adjustments, seek the Office of Sport approval (especially in relation to number of players per pitch) and provide these Resources (the Guidelines etc) to you as soon as practically possible;
g)      All being well, this may occur on Friday, however for planning purposes, I would suggest that we work towards next Monday (18 May 2020) so as to allow some slippage in time, especially since we are waiting on the Office of Sport;
h)      In support of these Resources, Football NSW is planning to host a webinar/teleconference session on Tuesday evening (19 May 2020, exact time to be advised) during which we will walk Associations, Clubs and coaches/volunteers through the Resources. During that presentation, our Technical staff will also provide coaches with some ideas as to how to best conduct sessions when constrained to no more than 10 people and so on;
i)        It is our intention to broadly publicise this session to as many people as possible but to also record it for dissemination the next day to those people unable to join us live;
j)        With all of the above in mind, it is unlikely we will be able to return to training until at least Wednesday, 20 May 2020 and this too may change.  It is our shared objective that as many people as possible watch, learn, implement and follow these guidelines in the interests of everyone’s health and safety. I cannot stress enough that the failure to comply with these guidelines may end up jeopardising or delaying further our full return to competition. It may also jeopardise the constructive and valuable relationship we’ve built with the State Government as being a real leader amongst the state sporting entities.

There is no timeline as yet for a return to play as this will be dependant on the health impacts of the return to training. As highlighted by FNSW, it is critical that all clubs and players comply with the guidelines in the first stage. However, we are no longer expecting we can return to play on 6 June and we are planning for a season start of 4/5 July.

Difference is every country has had a plan on what they want to achieve. For most countries that was about getting the virus numbers to something manageable

Australia set out for a suppression plan which they achieved over the Easter weekend (arguably earlier). But despite achieving its goal we are still in lockdown. First "experts" said we'll have 20,000 cases by the end of April. Then they said there are thousands of community transmission cases we are unaware of. Now they are telling us to beware of a second wave

There is so much fear and caution out there and each lockdown is resolved with another lockdown. The last few weeks have proven that even with the toughest of measures this thing wont go away. As long as one person has it there is the potential for that to become a dozen cases which we then have to get under control again and on and on it goes

Once we accept the position we are in then professional sport behind closed doors as well as local sports underway will become a natural part of that

I'm with you on this BB, in Vic only 5 people can come over to my place but I can go and mix with hundreds at Chadstone or Bunnings, makes heaps of sense!

Yep, original aim was to avoid overload of hospitals - now it seems the goal is to empty all hospital beds before things go back to normal... there’s regions of the country that haven’t seen a single case yet livelihoods continue to be destroyed.
Anyway only 11 weeks to wait ... assuming no second wave.

There was an article last month or so talking about hospital capacity won't be fully up and running until June or July. I suspect that is the real goal. Have our support up and running before we fully open up again.

In Vic you couldnt go visit your mum's house on mothers day without a valid reason, but you were allowed to take your covid infected ass into a nursing home without issue!

Of course, thats why elective surgery has started up again, no capacity

Most nursing homes are locked down more than either Federal or state guidelines.

You may then have another protracted break. I saw Ray Gatt and Adam Peacock on a podcast? yesterday. They were making the point that the FFA think they can finish this season quickly. However, Adam Peacock said that the owners are keen to push back the start of the new season until much later in the year or even next year.

While the NRL and its broadcast partners played their discussions out publicly in the lead up to the sport’s return, the AFL and its free to air (FTA) broadcast partner Seven have quietly come to an agreement regarding return to play on Thursday, June 11.

Seven CEO James Warburton today said he was excited to be able to bring the sport back to fans and had been working closely with the code on the return.

“We can’t wait to bring the footy back to the fans. Seven has been a supportive partner to the AFL to get the season going and provided a range of options for not only 2020 but certainty until the end of 2024.”

The broadcast plans for the returning season will be announced in due course. Foxtel, and it’s sports streaming platform Kayo, also have a broadcast agreement with the AFL.

That was the point. The Government needed to find ways to increase intensive care capacity threefold and one of those was to take it from the private sector. That arrangement has been sorted and numbers have dropped but there is still a need to carry out the remaining piece.

Given how many countries have given up on their domestic competitions it’s possibly a miracle we’re getting one at all (assuming we do of course).

 They include cornes complaining about players unable to hi5, kochie complaining about sharing a hotel with the opposition and now the sex ban.

Mitchell reportedly "made a scene" when asked to leave, saying words to the effect of "Olympics are just as important as football club training".Buckley is understood to have politely reasoned with the athletes, but was reportedly yelled at by the athletes as they departed the training facility.Mitchell's coach is understood to have told the security guard that the athletes had permission to train on the ground due to it being a "public oval".However, according to the AFL's protocols, clubs are given exclusive use over their training venues when they require them due to COVID-19 outbreak fears.

Members of the public are allowed to use the grounds at their own leisure whenever the AFL clubs are not training.
