After thinking about it overnight, I hope Averillo is playing on the left with Meaney, both are fast and Averillo knows how to put a player away with a good pass.

Also don't mind if Wakeham is 14 and turns out to be a hooker in the long run not a half.

I just want smart skillful footballers on the park.

For 2021 I would sign Tex Hoy to play fullback. Nicho Hynes as backup fullback / half / 14. 
Billy Brittian if we want an additional specalist hooker option.
Waheham might need up as half or hooker, JMK/Brittian might need up being hooker.
Lewis might end up half, lock or 14.

I would be tempted to convert Lewis to lock and Hoppa to right edge backrower..

We could have a fast skillful side in 2021 with abundant spine options.

Tass could be the other option or left centre. .

Cogger and Holland can be let go.

That report last night about Goodwin, with the club on the hunt for experience.... Why the fekk did we allow J Moz to leave in the first place?

JMoz only good in a team firing on all cylinders.
He's not the type of player you need in a team like this which is looking for players to generate something. 

BMoz on the other hand is. But like Foran, needs players around him to share the workload or he gets injured. 

JMoz is probably chasing a premership before he retires.

If Goodwin is coming, IMO it is just for extra depth to cover injuries, or he is in better form than we imagine.

My guess is the former, and additional guess is it may not be happening.

Foran would have made a great hooker in my opinion. His instinct is to run, understands the game, can target holes in the defence and put players through it. Also has a good short kick.

If I were Pay and the club, I would sit him down and tell him we will play you at hooker with a view to extending your contract in that position on good coin. I'd offer 2 more years for 1.5M (total)  if it was a success.

I thought I saw him play a game for Souths this year? 

He certainly looked like he had good temperament. I always favored him ahead of JMoz in 2009 as I felt he set up more tries on the wing with Kimmorley cutting out Jmoz and Goodwin setting up Jmoz for many tries.

He did well at Souths at centre but its nearly 6 years later now and while he can plug the hole (hoppa style) he is probably a stop-gap solution until we have a crack at a bigger star.

I'm disappointed with the club on Harper.....

Keep Foran at 5/8 IMO, too late for a position change to work. Hooker might have suited him, but he  is a good 5/8.

There is some chance our backline reshuffle this week might work.

I would also extend Foran inspite of the injury risks.

I'm just thinking of what kind players out there can change the way we play and make the team roll forward. Other than the retired Cronk who would teach these guys at training, the only one I can think of is Foran who is already in the team.

If there was ever a team that needed a player-coach I reckon it is us now and I reckon it has to come from hooker position or first receiver as half.

We need institutional change so the other muppets can follow the lead.

I think that all depends on who is coaching, and what players we have..

Sometimes a new coach and just a few new players can make a big difference.

On Harper we went with Smith on the centres and Crichton on the wing at the start of the year, if we had Hoppa at fullback round 1 Harper could have player right centre with DWZ on the wing..

I don't blame Pay for trying Smith in the centres, but so far it hasn't worked. We are making changes at least 1 week too late ..

Late mail: Kieran Foran makes a long-awaited return from shoulder injury, while Jack Cogger has been dropped. The Daily Telegraph reports the Dogs are planning a desperate backline shuffle. The mass changes include Dallin Watene-Zelezniak moving from fullback to wing, Will Hopoate from centre to fullback, Reimis Smith from left centre to right, Jake Averillo brought into the centres, and Christian Crichton axed.

This makes a lot of sense to me, Smith might defend better on the right.

 The only question is who out of Ogden, Holland, Katoa or Wakeham is added to the bench, I can make a case for all 4 of them, Wakeham is my preference but it is a tough call.

Even Crichton is an outside shot at the bench spot..

What a disappointing forward pack.
I'm now of the firm opinion that our forwards cost us the game before a ball is kicked.

My concern is Pay is worried too much about our backs not scoring length of field tries rather than worry why his forwards arent making any metres to allow the backs to score from 20-30m like they are suppose to.

We do need to improve the forwards, IMO Renouf T should start with Britt going back to the bench..

Maybe squeeze Ogden on the bench, unless Ogden really steps up we need to sign a quality starting prop...

I would get rid of Napa at the earliest possible opportunity, play Tolman off the bench in a stronger side...
  
We have similar issues in the 2nd row and at hooker..

But for now, Pay needs to work with the current side..

Being optimistic this is possible the best backline we have had in ages, Smith, Averillo and Meaney all have genuine pace. DWZ runs hard and isn't slow, Hoppa has a lot of skill. We possibly represent a threat in the backs both sides of the field and if Lewis is told to simply give the ball to Averillo or Hoppa, hopefully we don't throw too many dud passes.

How Smith and Averillo go in defence is anyone's guess, Pay is taking a gamble to try to score points.. 

IMO Pay will bring Holland or Wakeham off the bench to run up the middle towards the end of the game, that is another way we might score points,,, 

A high quality run from Renouf T, or RFM or a good short pass from Elliott are the other attacking options...

Yardage and defence are questionable, but this might be the best attack we have had for a while.

Marki...what percentage of your posts are made when the Dogs are going bad compared to when going good. It would have to be 95-5...the 5 being a tad generous perhaps. No one thrives on the Dogs' adversity like you. 

It's a case of no need to post much negatives when the team is going well. But when we arent... I feel compelled to help them fix the problem. 

Sitting around waiting for it to happen is just blind faith. We don't want to be a parramatta...
