I've bought my ACL tickets. I made sure that there would be full refunds in the event the competition doesn't go ahead for us before I committed.

I've also booked my away trip to Japan for the Gamba Osaka game. Will catch the Mariners game the night before in Nagoya too. Gonna be epic!

I think what happened to Ross really, really put him off us. New owners or not. Shame cos I think he's got potential. Nothing certain, just gut feel.

Back to the bench watson

galekovic

mullen boogard fyfe cassio

mckain usucar

barbs vidosic ramsey

djke

Would like to see that team in the ACL for us

chance djite or djke
or usucar for malik also

but happy with that team.

Disappointed in Melling on the weekend young i know but very poor.

also on john im pretty sure first of when he came back he wanted to come here but at that time we didnt need strikers and was not willing to offer him the big bucks other clubs were so he went. Ross was pushing him to sign for us.

I think if a first team managerial job was offered to john and he didn't get the one at heart of course he would come back.

I think with the team i posted above we should do well hopefully just need players back form injury and i just realized i forgot all about deleviski could go rb to so many options hope we get the boys fit should do well and could put this bad season behind us.

Almost forgot in all the other crap flying around there's a game on tonight :)

Now that we're screwed for the HAL do you think Kossie might try a few things tonight re:ACL? Personally I'd like to see Da Silva get a run. Haven't seen enough of him to know what he's about. He's in the ACL squad (i'm pretty sure) so it would be good to give him some game time.

Val reported the lineup will be like this:

----------Galekovic
Mullen-Boogard-Lev-Golec
------------Malik
----Caravella---Cassio
----------Vidosic
--------Djite--SVD

Looks a lot better IMO. Drop Bruce for Pancho when playing away and we might be able to grind out some results.

I have a work conflict tonight and can't make the game. Not even sure if I'm upset.
Hopefully Kossie will roll the dice and put out a refreshed team. Don'y know about DaSilva. he hasn't shown much in the time he's had.
For me:
Hugene
Mullen Boogs Fyfe Cassio
Mckain Lev
Caravella Vidosic Ramsey
Serg

But I'll change my mind in half an hour. Just so long as we bloody defend tonight. I'd take 0-0 even. We've got no chance in the ACL if we can't tighten up at the back. Fyfe couldn't have come home at a better time.

Defence looks much more solid like that. McKain and Lev would be a great DM partnership too. Both solid defensively and great passers of the ball. Just a bit worried about Caravella's lack of pace to play on the wing. I think we need to look for a real Travis Dodd replacement.

I just think Caravella is worth a try on the right. Had a chat with him at the members day and he said it's his preferred position. Seriously, Barbs is a great team man and I like him but he's been terrible lately and Caravella has shown heart when coming on. In the long run we do need a real winger.

But after all that I'll bet Watson starts tonight.

I hope that isnt Kossie's line-up. Cassio will be pissed if he is shunted out of LB again... (scott jamieson?).

I agree but that was under chief mind f***er Rini. And TBH that wasn't enough. Want to see more of him before I pass judgement.

On the proposed line-up that Val has indicated I don't like Golec at LB. Play people in position. If anything we've learned this season if we have people who are natural in a position then play them there.

His first appearance was a real shocker

his 2nd was alot better and i thought it was good enough to stay on the bench

i would have him in front of melling.

i wonder why tboy has not got more or a run either he was ok in his game we saw. Guess not kossies flavor.

I feel like a heel for saying this, but Malik needs to be dropped from the starting XI. He is way too slow on the ball.

Is it just me, or do we play at about 70% the speed of other teams? We seem way too casual closing down players and dwell too long on the ball playing out.

We are so slow and static with the ball, and just flat out refuse to pressure the ball in defence, seemingly even when the opposition is on the edge of the box. There was one point in the second half where Perth were just passing it round the edge of the box with no pressure, which led to Mcgarry shooting just wide where all our defenders were just standing around watching them.

I really like Malik but he is the example I cannot help but point to all the time. He is always, always stationary - he never receives the ball whilst moving and is everything that is wrong about the way we play boiled down to one player.

About the worst game of soccer I have seen in a long time. Terrible calls; the ref had no control of the game - it was only a matter of time until one side got a red card. Depressing crowds - even the red terrace, who chanted the entire game, sounded a little flat and depressed.

I agree with redsfan, sack Kossie and the list of players that can go with him is getting considerably longer.

Unless Djite or Van Djik wake up we are boned for ACL.

That's a big call because there have been some absolute stinkers this season. This game did have it all though, 2 pretty average teams and poor refereeing.

sirpp wrote:

I can't name one player in the team that doesn't need to wake up. If they turn it around in the ACL a part of me will be mad because it shows a lack of motivation. Saying that I don't want them to embarrass either!

What I want to see from our team for a full 90 minutes is the energy and positive aggresion that Dario brought to his game for the entire 2nd half.

With a bit of luck Dario will play well and some Asian team will buy him and give United some decent money.

Can't see him moving back to the Roar as Broich is way better and he'd sit out a lot of games - unless of course Rado did the nepotism stuff which would cause a shit-fight amongst all the other A-League clubs to buy Broich!

I still have optimism for the ACL. So much can change with a new competition. While our form worries me, I'm not going to let it get me to the stage where I'm telling people we're definately going to lose every match.

How about we just see what happens?

I have low expectations for the ACL, but its football literally anything could happen. I can't wait for this season to end, but I would consider it a win if we were able to avoid getting "Melbourne Victoried" in the ACL;)

Thoughts on Kossie sticking around for 1 more year? I'll reserve my judgement until after ACL, but I hear Mike Mulvey is out of a job. He did well with the GCU youngsters, I wonder what he could do with less interference from the front office, which he would be safe in assuming if he was employed by AU. Griffin>Palmer:)
