I wouldn't mind a smaller, more mobile forward, if such a player exists. True left and right sided wingers are a must.

don't disagree with your shopping list but he should have worked out by now a formation that suits the players he has,
Malik is a natural AM/winger and he's been persisted with at DM despite being poor in the role.
Watson has been persisted with at RB despite being terrible at it.
Barbiero has got way to much gametime for how he has been playing.
Vidosic is to inconsistent to play the no10 role and should be pushed out wide right.

but thats just my opinion.

Do you really think a new manager could come in now and do better ??
I cant wait for next season hope the owners say you can et rid of whoever you think will not perform and bring in who you want who you think will win

also kossie has had ban injures and more then 4 players less then rini had starting players to

kossie has done ok with his sliding door changing squad since he has been there

I do not want Kossie in charge next season. But that is a long way off and we need to wait and see if the HALis still running first.

He's not small but he is quick Kostpoulous is in the ACL squad but I don't think he's in the A-League squad. Is he the sort of player you're suggesting?

saying that in asia i think with the big bodies and the small asian bodies djite and djke will be a major factor

totally different to the a-league bodies the boys come up against here.

So do I. I really hope they don't and that magical something just clicks and we display 55 shades of awesomenes on the field. I've been waiting a long time this season though.

Very few of the ACL teams - and none of the ones we're playing - are smaller than us. The Reds squad is pretty bloody small by A-League standards. But that's beside the point. We're going to have to play better than them rather than rely on pushing them over. That's been our problem all season. We play like shit.

I'm as keen as the next fan to see us turn it on in the ACL but I don't expect that to happen. I can't see where the change would come from. The manager is unlikely to bring new ideas. The players are the same - and demoralised. If we'd got to this point with a "backs against the wall but we're all sticking together and playing for the team" attitude then I'd see more hope. At the moment it looks like many players don't want to be there, don't understand what they're doing and don't believe they can win.

Next season requires serious change in the attitude and cohesion of the team as well as complete tactical renewal.

I'll be at every ACL game I can get to because I'll support this team through whatever it takes. But this has been the hardest season I can remember as a fan.

I am getting my AFCCL passes today, I too am a sucker for AUFC.

As for small, mobile and fast forward. Teeboy? Natural replacement for Dodd as far as I am concerned. I would sincerely hope that Kossie goes for broke in the AFCCL as there is no point in us playing a conservative game plan.

I am not sure what the team will be. Looking at the squad it does not look good

Not Available?
McKain, Dilevski, Cassio, Fyfe, Usucar?? or has he recovered. Arguably 3 of our best back 4 and our best 2 DM.
Does Barbiero's red mean he can't play? I don't know why you would want him to play in his current form either.
Back up goalkeepers Izzo and Hall
Youth players who have never started and I would be shocked if they did.
Kostopoulos, Kamara, Welsh, Mavromatis, Esley and Wooding
Kossie has not given Ricardo da Silva any game time either.

The best thing about AFCCL as far as I am concerned is having a real bench, none of this mickey mouse 3 outfield and a GK sub.

I'll be doing the same Wednesday morning, once the opening game w/ Bundyodkor is in the books, thereby proving we are actually in the tournament. I can't believe the negativity on here, sure we suck this season, but football is a funny old game, adding Fyfe could just be the x-factor we need to shore up our leaky defence, anything can and does often happen in 90minutes of football. For all the Hanrahan's out there: Time to put the "We'll all be rooned!" hats away and get out to support the lads. COYR!

Quote:

SAID HANRAHAN by John O'Brien

"We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
In accents most forlorn,
Outside the church, ere Mass began,
One frosty Sunday morn.

The congregation stood about,
Coat-collars to the ears,
And talked of stock, and crops, and drought,
As it had done for years.

"It's looking crook," said Daniel Croke;
"Bedad, it's cruke, me lad,
For never since the banks went broke
Has seasons been so bad."

"It's dry, all right," said young O'Neil,
With which astute remark
He squatted down upon his heel
And chewed a piece of bark.

And so around the chorus ran
"It's keepin' dry, no doubt."
"We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"Before the year is out."

"The crops are done; ye'll have your work
To save one bag of grain;
From here way out to Back-o'-Bourke
They're singin' out for rain.

"They're singin' out for rain," he said,
"And all the tanks are dry."
The congregation scratched its head,
And gazed around the sky.

"There won't be grass, in any case,
Enough to feed an ass;
There's not a blade on Casey's place
As I came down to Mass."

"If rain don't come this month," said Dan,
And cleared his throat to speak -
"We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"If rain don't come this week."

A heavy silence seemed to steal
On all at this remark;
And each man squatted on his heel,
And chewed a piece of bark.

"We want an inch of rain, we do,"
O'Neil observed at last;
But Croke "maintained" we wanted two
To put the danger past.

"If we don't get three inches, man,
Or four to break this drought,
We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"Before the year is out."

In God's good time down came the rain;
And all the afternoon
On iron roof and window-pane
It drummed a homely tune.

And through the night it pattered still,
And lightsome, gladsome elves
On dripping spout and window-sill
Kept talking to themselves.

It pelted, pelted all day long,
A-singing at its work,
Till every heart took up the song
Way out to Back-o'-Bourke.

And every creek a banker ran,
And dams filled overtop;
"We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"If this rain doesn't stop."

And stop it did, in God's good time;
And spring came in to fold
A mantle o'er the hills sublime
Of green and pink and gold.

And days went by on dancing feet,
With harvest-hopes immense,
And laughing eyes beheld the wheat
Nid-nodding o'er the fence.

And, oh, the smiles on every face,
As happy lad and lass
Through grass knee-deep on Casey's place
Went riding down to Mass.

While round the church in clothes genteel
Discoursed the men of mark,
And each man squatted on his heel,
And chewed his piece of bark.

"There'll be bush-fires for sure, me man,
There will, without a doubt;
We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"Before the year is out."

Well we didn't ( obviously ) must admit to being concerned when I saw no Fyfe in the lineup, I thought our defence would be ripped apart ( just glad Bunyakador are still in pre-season mode ), I think we were actually fitter than them, which was a real surprise and I thought Dario showed that he's interested in some Asian mob buying him ( He played his usual "sometimes you see me, sometimes you don't ) but seemed better to my eyes?

Club Statement

Monday, 5 March 2012 11:34 AM

Adelaide United FC wishes to clarify the position it has taken in actively supporting the nomination of Clive Palmer as a living treasure.

When the club was first approached to assist Clive Palmer, it did so as at the time Clive was very supportive of the Club and in fact had agreed to speak at the Reds’ United in Business Lunch in February. As it transpired Clive cancelled that appearance due to a small medical procedure he was booked into at late notice on the same day.

Since then Clive has made a raft of statements that in the club’s view are damaging to the game in Australia. The recent announcement that he had formed Football Australia has been severely criticised by Adelaide United Chairman Greg Griffin, who described that body as being a complete nonsense and a waste of time.

The full transcript of Griffin’s quotes appeared in The Advertiser on 2 March 2012. The Club has made its position as to the recent actions of Clive very clear. Adelaide United FC fully endorses the actions taken by the FFA to terminate his licence to field a team in the Hyundai A-League and regards as appalling the personal attacks that have been made by Clive on faithful and loyal servants of the game in recent media appearances.

Adelaide United prides itself on the strong working relationships it has with all the Hyundai A-League clubs, which includes Gold Coast United. When however any individual or club seeks to damage the good standing or integrity of the league, the club will not stand back in silence as has been shown by the public statements of the Club Chairman in recent times.

I have been disappointed with Dijk not worth the money he has been payed this season

much rather have djite up there playing the role he might not score as much but does allot more around the ground and has more pace.

djik needs good attacking passing players for him to give him the ball on a platter unfortunately this season he does not unlike last season.

if djik goes wont be a big loss to me we have djite and frees up allot of money to find someone else.

on a side not well done caravella proved me wrong your last 2 games have deserved marquee payment taking playrrs on now and passing forward not retreat and pass backwards well done guy.

Van Dijk has done as much as he can in a poor side. Still holds up the ball superbly and has better technique than any of our other players.

Good move I think. He's been solid and still young enough to build into a key defender for our side.
Who else is coming out of contract end of this season?
