Speaking of the club. Last night our banners were checked more extensively than usual. Weslo gave us the reasoning that they were specifically lookin for protest banners in regards to the football Australia thing. Now if that is true that angers me to the nth degree. While there were no banners of the sort around, the fact that there was an initiative set to basically stop fans displaying an opinion in regards to something happening at OUR club is disguisting. I understand they were probably scared of it being publicised or whatever but in my books that's not right. We should have the right to an opinion on club matters and the right to express that opinion.

We have a game tonight. Anyone going? I am.

Have offered the club $20 to allow me to hand-write my name on the game jerseys in texta as a sponsor. Now Clive is out I'm probably the best option and they'll be $20 better off. It's a bit sad that the best ACL team in Australia can't get a shirt sponsor.

I wonder what the minimum spend would be. Wouldn't it be great if the fans pooled some dollars and became the front-of-shirt sponsor for the last home game. I'd be in for $50. Just need a couple of hundred of us and we'd have $10,000 to offer for one game. Then Val would have real story to write about something positive.

Dreaming...

I would be in. Lets see if we can get it rolling.

I've sent an email to Matt Rossi to see if the club would be interested in making this happen.

I have a strong feeling that may have been from the FFA more than the club, they don't want the FA anywhere near them.

Well I want to find out why would we even accociation ourselves with that lowlife Palmer in the first place...

Ive seen poor crows and bad performances on the park which is concerning as it is without us inviting extra controversy..

As for Weslo - They were probably looking for pro FA stuff as a FFA directive

Enjoyed last night

Ok only just over 7500 but the atmosphere was the loudest I have heard at hindmarsh in a while.

skeptical of the club closing the tiers at first but I after seeing what happen I thought it was good to get the lower tiers stands in the east, north and south end filled first before the uppers tiers were opened.

With people a little closer to the action made for better atmosphere.

Had a great time pre-game with the Red Terrace boys down North Terrace.

the chants in the city worked a treat with the onlookers!!!

yeah that was fantastic!

Looked great when rested above them during the game too

Hope it's back next game. I can't imagine how much work and money must go into something like that.

Filling the lower teirs before the upper teirs is actually something I would support for every game, people definitely got more involved because of it. When everyone is all spaced out across the stands the atmosphere is impossible to get going.

+1.

i was still buying my ticket so i missed the Army doing the pullover, but it did look good in the stadium, and after seeing the highlights this morning, it worked well on TV too. Much better than those black tarps they use at Port games.

Watching the replay on fox sports the whole crowd was lounder and compare that to the Brisbane Roar ACL match. Slightly more people but very spacious.

As mentioned more people were willing to get involved in the game because once one starts it becomes more infectious. Didn't mind also seeing the black Adelaide United TIFO in the upper tier of the eastern stand as well.

Which is why Hindmarsh is so good. It's a football specific ground where you are almost on top of the action, pity about those Adelaide oval sails being destroyed - yet another " shove that in your face wog-ball " moment by the government!

Yeah, sorry I've all but forgotten the days of un-employment and surviving on the smell of an oily rag. - actually I haven't forgotten I've just pushed those memories into the deep, dark recesses within.

its typical of the people running the adelaide oval project. they dont want football to get bigger. they also probably want more united games at the oval, which is part of the reason they wouldnt give us the sails

i think its pretty sad actually. one day these people will be sorry, dont worry

Guys, I love accusing everyone else as being "anti-soccer" as the next person but in this case I can kind of understand why they said no. Shame it couldn't happen but we should be lobbying the government to install something similar at the stadium.

Seeming most of the supporters are there in the summer, something that provides sun shade could look great and would be much cheaper and more feasible than building a traditional grandstand roof.

It's a slap in our face given how much help the SAG have given Adelaide Oval AND how much they push all those anti-cancer/sun-smart messages!

That's very magnanimous of you.
I, on the other hand, am more cynical. I think that with what government ministers get paid, it is they who should be doing the thinking, if we have to do it for them as well as get charged too much for every-bloody-thing just so they can have their large salaries and terrific retirement plans that we've paid for - Sorry going on one of my political rants again

I don't they were being anti soccer, I think they were being stupid and pig headed.

Agreed. They didn't allow it happen not because they're anti-soccer and anti-Hindmarsh. They did it because they don't care about it. To them, having the stadium completed in time for the 2014 AFL season is far more important.

The political fall out of the project not going to schedule (which will probably still happen regardless) is not in the best interests of the SAG.

I still maintain that the cost to do this from scratch is extremely feasible. If the SAG can put $500mill into AO and effectively hand it over to the SACA and SANFL to manage, they could at least fund installing shade over the 3 exposed stands.
