the AL is a mess. We can wait for JJ 11 list and see which direction FFA want to take. Atm we don’t know. If SA was offered another franchise and no relegation you could get it done quicker perhaps. Also consult with NRL. 

Again NRL in Brisbane. Are they going to expand? Could a 2nd team play out of a new smaller stadium? I don’t think Qld gov will build Roar a stadium anytime soon.

Vic is covered. 
NRL is pushing for Sydney grounds and FFA for home of football.
WA is building a smaller stadium and hopefully their FA wants a pro team.

3 yrs will go quick. It goes without saying that winning the thing would gain even bigger growth and potential. Even if arguments come “they don’t need it, they won with what they already have.”

Stadiums will be the toughest. The sports complexes that are being built in WA, SA, Vic, NSW will be the way forward. Potential to build similar or smaller on other side of town depending on the city.

Again, Qld needs something ASAP 

Forgetting the big stadiums I wouldn't be surprised if a few base camps become at the least the basis of some boutique stadiums. I can see base camps in Hobart and Launceston, Dandenong etc, getting the beginning of boutique stadiums. Maybe a 5000 seat stand on one side and a 2000 seat stand at one end.   

TBH - I suspect York Park will be dropped and a Hobart small stadium  (about 15,000) with temporary stands to bring it up to 20,000 - 25,000 for the WWC will be built.     

This is where FFA has let us down. 

They have released their “pillar for success” or whatever they called it. But have never released a minimum standard for a a potential NSD. We just don’t know what they will demand.

Therefor we can’t ask for things to be built that will have a future function. Eg. 4x3500 seater mini stadiums that will be accepted in a NSD or even future pro rel.

They have never wanted to release a standard because the “wrong” clubs will be able to meet them

I'd say clubs could always aspire to have grounds that meet the criteria for an FFA Cup broadcast vs an A-League team. That's all we have to go on now and a lot of them need to upgrade things like lights anyway to meet that if we keep playing that midweek. Probably the closest we'd get to a NSD criteria before FFA inevitably announce it at the last minute. 

The weeknight thing is a Foxtel idea. There are many ways it could go. With an eventual move to eg Mar-Nov season I would like to see FFA Cup final in May. Do the local r64 thing where MV play a Vic team away. Non AL clubs can start playing games after May final or even earlier rounds before. By the time the AL finals come (in current format) , do something like the 6 teams that don’t play  in the finals play their r64 games away to local rival in weeks 1 & 2 of finals series, during the day on Saturday and Sundays. Then continue the Cup the following year. Maybe r32 the 2 weeks before season starts (weekends daytime) and go to night once AL season starts.

But that won’t happen.

I have noticed more articles lately though, but haven’t posted, with council funding. There is often focus on state and federal but councils need to and hopefully will step up.

With a move like that, shouldn't the Cup final be later in the year? Otherwise the first half of the season is congested with FFA Cup games at all levels.

If a new Hobart stadium was proposed, funded and ready to go once we won the bid then sure. But that would have been in the bid book. 3 years is a short time and unless the Feds put in most of the money I personally can’t see it happening.

NBL basketball and AFL seem to be the priorities for the State Government, like other states football gets a fraction of a fair share of funding based on participation. It will change eventually but current pollies are old school Footy/Cricket types and some other sports get preferential funding and we outperform in those sports relative to population.

Read the technical evaluation - Page 82 - especially the bit where it says 'if the ground is confirmed for use". i.e.

I hope that it is made clear to the Tasmanian government that just because York Park was in the bid book it doesn't mean that they're guaranteed games.

Our bid included 13 venues but the criteria was 8, so FIFA could well do away with as many as five of them. I would be surprised if at least one venue wasn't dropped from each of the NZ and AEST time zones, with 5 and 6 venues proposed in each respectively. No prizes for guessing which one would be first on the chopping block in the AEST zone.

Time for the lobbying to begin.

Yep. The last thing we want is for Tassie to miss out on this huge opportunity, but you can only lead a horse to water, as they say.

Before the Phoenix having 2 good seasons, Tassie would have been a reasonable replacement for them.

I wouldn’t be getting too exited about getting new football grounds. The money will go towards either Rugby League ground upgrades or something for the AFL in way of facilities.

Simple way to kill two birds with one stone is to have FFA Cup rounds (from R32 onwards) on during international breaks. That way the A-League pauses to allow for international duties, but there's still club football on during the weekend. If the big clubs have players missing then that's fine, it's all just part of the "magic of the cup". There are usually breaks on in June/July, September, October and November, so the timing would be perfect. Final can be played between the end of the regular season and the beginning of the finals series.

Money going towards "Rugby League grounds" isn't too much of an issue, because we can use them as well. The only ones that are kind of specifically Rugby League grounds are Cronulla and Penrith, correct?
