Jake Goodship and Hollie Palmer at the announcement (from the Roar twitter account), so safe to assume it is W-League related, my guess setting up an academy program for the women’s program.

Roar announce an $18m investment in to an Academy at South Pine (bigger investment than Logan?).
The Academy will host the W-League team training, HQ, and junior academy teams.
Includes 3 pitches, timeshare on 3 more, and purpose built facilities.

That was for the men only, the Academy trained in Kelvin Grove at QUT and the women were a bit nomadic.
This is an $18m investment in women’s training facilities for the W-League team and will also host the Academy (moving up from QUT).
So in the past two years Roar have benefitted from $30m of investment in to training facilities. Even the AFL is jealous 😂

Fair enough, I always thought it was both men's and woman's teams based out at Logan. I had no idea it was split. Either way that's great news, it's good to see more and more clubs have their own training bases to call home.

Football Brisbane are rumoured to be moving out of the same complex Roar are in

I have watched a facebook clip etc but still don't know where this facility will be . Just says Brendale . I know that area well and the only place I can imagine it being is a large sports complex on Francis road that currently has no Football facilities . Would be a good spot . Interestingly ..just up the road about 5 minutes at Petrie is where a friend of ours reported a few months ago that a certain "David Pourre from the Roar" would be touring sporting facilities of the new University complex there. Maybe the men will be moving training facilities to just up the Road at Petrie??? ....and a further conspiracy theory .....Petrie is only about 15 minutes from Dolphin Oval .!!!!

If they hadn’t paid a player there’d be 10+ people lining up to comment - but when it’s good news, zip .... it kinda sums up the problems with football in this country for 70+ years no?

Do you have any inside word about this? I know they've floated the proposal about, but haven't heard any concrete news on funding sources (whether private or government).

Nothing concrete, only what’s been published in media and discussed with the club via the supporters group.
I believe the funding is State money, not private. The intent is to refurbish and existing state sporting asset and repurpose it for football.

There is another positive in this. If Roar are looking at any move north, be it Dolphin or otherwise, it frees up the whole Sth West of Brisbane for a second team. While Roar were spreading themselves from Redcliffe to Logan it was all a bit confusing.

I also disagree that any side has to represent part of Brisbane and not the whole of Brisbane mind you.
It’s entirely acceptable for a side to represent a geographic segment of Brisbane if that’s who they are, equally it’s acceptable for a side to represent the entire city irrespective of where they’re based, play or train.
I don’t see Liverpool being geographically divided with certain post codes supposed to support red and the other blue and the same in Manchester, whether you support city or United is not based on proximity to stadium or training ground.
It’s an unusually Australian thing, probably an outcome of the franchise models multiple codes run, to think that location means much - that sort of thinking is an inhibitor to proper football culture, as if allegiance is determined by your post code. It isn’t, and it shouldn’t be.

It isn’t, and it shouldn’t be. If you start local and follow your team up the football pyramid, you can end up with post code determining most of your team's following - as it should be. "Our team" means something in that context. Without P/R (yes, that again) it is a different kettle of fish at the top level for our teams - since teams just appear there without any following growing out of their own roots. Brisbane Roar to me has no postcode base location for 'local' support - just the generic Brisbane/Queensland plus anyone else who wants to follow the best team in the league.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

It isn’t, and it shouldn’t be. Tell that to a West Ham or Tottenham supporter. The point is, if Roar represents Brisbane (which incidentally is the largest city by area in Australia) then where does a second club draw supporters from. Everton and Liverpool have a century old heritage (originally there was a religious divide) to draw on. I suppose if you want the second Brisbane team to bring their 1500 club supporters and be satisfied with that then all good. Just don’t complain about crowd numbers. Understanding why Melbourne City don’t have decent crowds while WSW does is not rocket science.
