Thanks Greenlion, great post.

That picture kind of looks like they're renovating Worker's Stadium in Beijing to be rectangular, is this the case?

I  might go to this tournament

Would be a great one to travel to as a fan. Modern rectangular stadia, excellent transport infrastructure and plenty of hotel/tourist infrastructure and other things to see and do.

Also, Pudong Football Stadium in Shangai will be finished next month. Its first event will be a League of Legends championship in September and October.

Qatar bid for 2027. Sigh

Fortunately they're still just one of five bidders at this stage, there's a 2027 thread in this subforum with more info.

Asian Cup dates set for 2023 tournament
The Asian Football Confederation has announced the dates for the 2023 Asian Cup.

The 18th edition of the Asian Cup, the region's flagship national team competition, will take place in China on June 16-July 16, 2023.

Ten cities across China will host the 24-team tournament, which will be held over 31 days, three days more than the 28-day showpiece in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2019.

China will host the tournament for the second time after organising it in 2004.

The 2019 edition of the quadrennial event was the first to be expanded from 16 to 24 teams.

Qatar are the defending champions after winning their maiden title in the UAE.

Guangzhou's 100k seater coming along nicely, surely they'll add it to the Asian Cup if it's finished on time at the end of 2022, right?

Evergrande have sold their stadium to another property group due to their debt crisis, according to the skyscrapercity forum there's only a skeleton crew working on it at the moment. Evergrande isn't the only development company in trouble. Perhaps a China 2034 World Cup isn't such a sure thing after all.
