It's annoying isn't it? Some matches everyone in the team clicks then a week later every pass is wayward and the team goes through the game as if they're playing U10 girls.
Meanwhile the Mannschaft - CCM - Just treats every game like it's a final.
Can't see anybody challenging them unless they lose Ryan, Zwansdijk, Bogic, Ibini and McBreen all at once

I think this is more weslo then the club i think it is unfair people are blaming the club for this. Also think people are over reacting alot about alot of things. I can understand the frustration at the santa beard and being topless though. But constant swearing i agree should be a no and standing on seats jumping.


The club needs to sit weslo down and say look this is ok and this is not. SA POL seem to do alot better then the actual security who are power hungry at the games. According to what i hear from people on this forum ive never had trouble but then again i dont stand on my seat wave my shirt over my head dress up as santa or swear towards players either so that could be why lol

I think you are missing the point mate, this statement was not made by WESLO, it was made by the club. The club have just deflected a movement containing 600 signatures from their fans and sided with an overzealous security firm despite their private wishes of not wanting weslo around.

This isnt just about being topless and santa beards. this is about incidents and attitudes that have been around for the past 6 years. This is about consistency with what other clubs and supporters around the league are granted. Recent events have tipped that over board yes, but this has been coming for a very very long time.

The club need to sit down with weslo yes, that is what we as the fans want, that is what we need. to be honest I think the best thing in this situation would be a fan forum with a panel of members from weslo, sapol, aufc, ors, and the ffa. Willing to answer questions and actually listen to the fans, but do you think this will ever happen? Active support has never been supported by this club and at this rate never will be.

Not to sure about that. They have there own area for just the supporters they opened a new area on the other side for the supporters. Banners are aloud up everywhere where at other clubs would not be aloud chanting is non stop even the more naughty chants are not stopped drums the bell ect but like i said not everyone sees everything the same way. You cant have one of the best support groups in the a-league without a club that lets it happen.

Apparently the club cant do anything about weslo ?? i didnt know that

I personally think that Weslo are complete filth but I personally hold nothing against the club for it. I know I could choose to get angry about the fact that the club hasn't taken a bigger stand but, eh...

Best thing active support could do, instead of threatening to leave, would to spend an entire match in complete silence, sitting down, with a banner that says "we're scared if we chant, we'll get kicked out" or something along those lines.

Club not to blame...sorry but thats WRONG - they could be our voice & go to Wesl/ Stadum Management/ to talk on OUR behalf but noooo why would they want to do a silly thing like becking their supporters

Not sure who employs Weslo but surely they would have a complaints area

I'm not an "active supporter" but in the old days before roped off areas etc I joined in a few times and have been amongst them on a couple of MV away trips and always had a great laugh.

I'm too old and lazy and prefer to watch the game these days but it is really sad to see how much the numbers and noise have dwindled in the last couple of seasons in particular

I'd hate for our atmosphere to become like CCM so I'm right behind the guys and gals, though I do view a lot of them as petulant children these days ;)

This really IS a slap in the face from the club. Whether it's their decision or not to hire WESLO isn't the point here. A large group of supporters (customers?) raised a complaint and were fobbed off. This wouldn't happen even in a department store if 600 people raised a complaint so we are even less valuable than those customers it seems.

If these owners still don't understand that atmosphere is one of our best selling points to potential new fans then they never will. Open discussion from all parties is clearly the best way forward and I believe that's what fans were requesting. So to be told to sit down and be quiet and pay your money is frankly insulting.

Plus, I swear at LEAST 3-5 times a game especially if we are losing but it's ok guys, I'm a Western Stand member

I have been an AU member since inauguration and remember, excitedly, going to practice games at Galaxy's ground to watch this " people's team "
A few years later after saint Nick had bailed and the team hung on by its fingernails and finally Rini un-opposedly destroyed our fledgling culture it looked bad.

Kossie rode in on his white horse and the club management began making nice noises and I thought everything was looking up and now this " Fuck you " from the club. In my view its time for the management to either back its supporters or go back to sitting on the board at an SANFL club - they've had long enough to get it right

TBH, I think that the owners will be gone in two years tops. They'll realise that you can't make money out of football and that AUFC is not a club to be fucked around with.

Im pretty sure adelaide do not have anything to do with weslo ? because the government own the stadium they hire the security if i am right?

the issue really doesnt have anything to do with the fact that the club does or does not employ weslo.

The issue is that the club have made it very clear they are not interested in listening it its very fans and act as a medium between both groups to come to a better outcome, basically eradicating any voice the fans have within the club

They know they can't make money out of football, knew it from day one - what they have wanted to do is create a stable club, however it just doesn't seem to click that a vibrate active support culture is a key plank in club stability.

Adelaide United FC’s on field future has taken another exciting and positive step forward with the acquisition of talented local youngsters Awer Mabil and Jordan Elsey on senior contracts.

The signing of the duo, who are both currently part of the club’s National Youth League squad, to two year deals commencing on 1 May 2013, notably takes the number of young South Australian talent under the age of 20 at the club to five, Mabil and Elsey to join Paul Izzo, Teeboy Kamara and Jacob Melling on the Reds’ senior list.

Adelaide United Chairman Greg Griffin made the announcement, proud to emphasise the club’s desire to nurture and provide an opportunity for aspiring young players to represent the club and have a chance to mould out professional careers for themselves.

“Today is an important day when we announce the signing of two of the brightest young prospects in Australia,” Griffin said.

“Both of these boys are players who have come through the local system, we’ve developed them and are delighted to say they will be part of our squad for next season.”

“We’re making a statement here that we will give young South Australian kids a go.”

Going on their performances to date in this season’s National Youth League, Mabil and Elsey, who are both products of the South Australian Sports Institute’s football program, have certainly deserved their opportunity.

An explosive and dynamic winger, Mabil has scored eight goals so far in the National Youth League this season, including a hat-trick against the Newcastle Jets, while the high regard Elsey is held in is evidenced by the fact he was named United Youth’s most valuable player last season and currently wears the captain’s armband for the club’s Youth Team.

“It feels great to finally be a part of Adelaide United,” Elsey said.

“I’ve been training with them for a long time now, it feels good to be official and now I can get down to improving and working hard.”

“I’ve been in Adelaide all my life and been watching Adelaide United since I was 12, so it’s perfect.”

For Mabil, he is still pinching himself with the news but knows it is up to him to make the most of his chance.

“It’s hard to believe…I couldn’t believe it and now I’m here so the hard work starts now,” Mabil said.

“I just have to keep working hard and one day I’ll get there.”

Born in Kenya, Mabil came out to Australia with his mother, older brother and younger sister at the age of 10, his father having passed away before he could remember. With football in his blood, it did not take long for Mabil to be noticed as he played for a number of teams in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, and in the 2011/12 National Youth League season, he was a train on player for the Reds’ Youth Team before receiving a youth contract the following season.

Competing in his third NYL season, Elsey has become an outstanding defender, showing great potential and a maturity that he has what it takes to make it at Hyundai A-League level.

Mabil and Elsey have both been regular train on players with the Reds’ senior squad this season.

I think that the AU owners have finally woken up that John Aloisi gets Adelaides best youngsters from under their noses. Good luck to the two lads. But you lost Garruchio and Mauk to us. Also Goodwin, but we were also stupid for letting him walk to Newcastle. Ah Yeh, we also got Marrone.
