In the paper today they mention that Ramsay is yet to re-sign for the club and is fielding a number of options, both within the A League and overseas. He seemed a bit on the outer earlier this season, but now seems to be back as first choice on the left.

If he goes elsewhere, who have we got to replace him?

I suppose the obvious thing would be Evan on the left and Jeronimo or Juric on the right

Valkanis has until the end of the season if he keeps the squad playing like the did against Melbourne then sign him up why look elsewhere. If you are looking for us to sign someone before the end of the season you will be disappointed valkanis has the boys untill the off season then a new coach will be announced if it is not valkanis but like the club said he has the advantage of a 7 week plus finals apprenticeship.

That's what worries me a few new coach results and we ignore that he has not come from any culture of success and the club gets its man. I would hope we begin interviewing before the season is over so we are not at any disadvantage.

But he played for Sth. Melbourne next to Ange.
Arnold was roundly criticized for his Asian cup role, and both he and Ange copped it for their management of the young Socceroos. Popovich's career at Crystal Palace was trophy free as well - yet these local guys have shown that they have the steel to get a local team into silverware winning mode.
Rini came from F.C. Twente, who have a reasonable culture of success, yet he, himself didn't, and we all know what happened.

So, n my opinion, you're thoughts don't seem to hold water.

It doesn't mean we'll necessarily end up with a great coach but if you look at Arnold, Ange, Popovich and Coolen they all had experience in a different environments first. Arnold and ange were average they go away and learn and improve. Popovich goes to a higher level then comes back. You could be right and we get lucky but with the lack of success we've had it's difficult to justify recruiting from within, but it's just an opinion. lol

I think that should be our public stance not to disrupt the team too much for the finals but behind the scenes everything should be go go go. lol

Opinions are all we've got, we're the mob that sit there and watch, and have opinions about who should be playing and who shouldn't simply because we love the game and will watch & cheer ( hopefully )

I like ramsey but like cassio he is one dimensional and clubs have realized it and started to shut them down this season. Cassio did his little left foot shift around stella a few times against Melbourne but against other teams they have figured it out. One player just stood to the left a few games back and gave cassio the whole right side and he still choose to go left and lost the ball. That is the only thing about cassio letting him down he is all left sided.

ramsey has his pace and can run down the line great but clubs are starting to shut that down and he no longer can do it much anymore but when he does do it he has a great game.

Glad cassio is staying and want ramsey to aswell but if ramsey does decide to go we could probably find another fast LM and if not hopefully Kosto can slip in there.

Regarding Valkanis, if the team play well for the remainder of the season, he will probably get the gig next season.

One thing that greatly concerns me is that he got himself sent off last week against MVFC. He also got himself into a heap of shit against MVFC in the 2006 Grand Final. He has proven that he can't handle the BIG matches.

Gillet was an idiot last week, but there were many cases where we were throwing our hands in the air and complaining to the ref over nothing. And our coach was there leading the way with that sort of behaviour.

For a club with a bit of a history of self imploding during the big games, we cannot have a coach that loses his cool.

I agree. But Mickey V. is not the only one, remember Kossie's explosion at the ref. after we beat Newcastle in a penalty shootout to earn a GF berth vs MV who thrashed us 6-0.
To this day I blame Kossie for getting the whole ref fraternity anti-red, and the incredible un-eveness of the contest that followed because of, in Carl Veart's words " the Three blind mice "

After writing about tirade I'm pissed off with the performance against Sydney yesterday.
After playing with intensity the week before, and roundly applauded, the team went out and leisurely strolled around as if they had a divine right to win.
Wanderers play with the same intensity and same will to win EVERY game and now are 1 point from top spot.

Sure we keep being reminded by the owners that we're in 4 th spot - big deal for unless the team pull's it's finger out and plays with the same intensity it exhibited against Victory for 90 mins, ( not 18 like against Sydney ) we'll go out as soon as we play away.
We don't get the financial help that the FFA has decided Sydney teams need, but CCM
seem to be at the pointy end every year and they run on the smell of an oily rag and don't get FFA handouts.

I'm glad that our local comp. begins next week, and as I love or team being in the ACL, I've got a feeling that Wanderers will win big in that comp. before we get another chance.

- rant over

It's new coach syndrome the players get an emotional kick to perform but it's not sustainable and should be taken into consideration for any possible long term coaching role. lol

I was bitterly upset last night so I waited until now to post

It's clear why the owners made a profit....cut back on football operations & paying not much for mediocre players....well mediocre mentally at least, on both mental and talent worst. How cheap they are is now more important than how good physically and mentally they are.

Apart from Eugene who performs regardless the rest are front runners

What gets me that it's sems the owners don't care until they see dollar signs they like and most fans are too busy kissing their backsides to bother ask WTF is going on...

Sigh [-(    ](*,)

UnitedGal what are you on about girl, the club has always been full of frontrunners. lol The only way this is a owner issue is it needs someone to go through and show the people how to win, the club lacks a winner, someone who has had success. The owners are North Adelaide people they have always been a failure, the football department at Adelaide United has always been a failure, this is why we need a coach from the outside.

Oh I agree - & being a Roosters member for years, you don't have to remind me about this board..so I'm not THAT surprised

hate to say this we MUST gett Merrick as coach & also have Rado Vidiosic in a technical role - both coming from two of the most successful team in the ALeauge's short history.

I will assume that you were not present and direct you the watr's where a transcript of all issues spoken about at the meeting have been posted. Makes for great reading and it may change your oppinon.

I was referring to their record of success, there is no one there that can tell the club this, this and this is needed for success, that needs to come from outside. I wasn't criticising the owners for picking frontrunners, cutting back expenses or anything else that unitedgirl was taking aim at. lol

I can understand her frustration.
I'm not anti-owners, however I've been to both membership meetings.
At the 1st one all the talk was " Community club, engage fans, have a supporters committee and feedback from us to the fans ..etc.. " - none of which was followed through with any commitment
To be fair a website was put up that was a success in that fan's questions were answered but the FFA deemed the site illegal ( I'm still scratching my head as to why? - I personally believe that it was a power thing and that if our club was a Sydney or a Melbourne, the idea would've been seen as a great initiative )

So at the second meeting just 6 days ago similar nice noises were made, but I treated it much the same as you would a politician who says good things to win the proles over, then does what they feel like when in power.

We are 4th, but we've shown that we could be 1st.
Another ACL campaign and finally some silverware I've been waiting 9 years for.

( BTW if you need to know what a prole is a handy book to read is " 1984 " - George Orwell )

i think im in a similar place to you.

The past few weeks have been very positive though, club has agreed to all things mentioned in the open letter from support groups ( atleast agreed to discuss the matter further) and seems to be quite open to fan input now.

For example if i read correctly, AUFC will no longer we writing about fixtures and perfomances on its website as its already covered by other forms of media. Instead they are looking to fill that space with more fan related issues. Like generating interest in the active areas etc. Which was exactly as they did at the last home game.

If they are sincere ( and i hope they are ) then we are moving in a very positive direction. Time will tell though

i think im in a similar place to you.

Sigh [-(    ](*,)

sorry but #-o [-x You clearly have a thing against the owners going a long way back now. How can you say this is because of the owners. Have you forgot we are in 4th spot and not last like last season i guess that is no reason because of the owners though ?

I fail to see how the owners have been so cheap when they have spent more then what other clubs have.

we could even still win the league this year out of the top 4 we have the easiest run home now and should win nearly all of them starting with wellington

Sorry but your frustrations don't match hers at all and we've been over the active support issues previously they affect a very small percentage of the supporter base. It's hard to fault the owners generally, i just think they need a winner.

I didnt read much discussion about this board development, does anyone know more about it? Also I'm still interested to know who all the AUFC board members are?

Glad to be off the Adelaide United board, says Phil Lounder
Val Migliaccio
The Advertiser
March 08, 201311:30PM
FORMER Adelaide United board member Phil Lounder yesterday admitted chairman Greg Griffin's autocratic leadership had made life as an independent board member difficult.
Lounder, an accountant, revealed Griffin presented him with a letter of resignation on Tuesday because the FFA wanted a qualified financial officer.

Griffin on Thursday stated the club had complied with the FFA participation agreement by appointing a qualified financial officer, Ben Pahl, from last Monday.

Griffin stated Lounder was no longer required and was removed from the board at a shareholders' meeting on Tuesday.

Lounder formed part of the new Adelaide United board in 2010 when the Robert Gerard-led consortium took the club off the hands of Football Federation Australia.

"I did not want to be removed from the board," Lounder said.

"Greg Griffin just came into my office and said `sign this resignation'.

"I said `I don't want to resign' and that was largely it.

"Then they had to have a meeting of members and it was up to the members.

"I left it up to them.

"I'm very comfortable being on the outside.

"I find Greg (Griffin) being quite difficult and I think I'm happy to be out.

"The problem was (director and owner) Bruno Marveggio wasn't available.

"He was in Amsterdam at the time and the others saw fit to possibly take advantage and that's life - it could be a blessing in disguise."

Lounder - a former SANFL player for North Adelaide and Central Districts - is currently president of the East Torrens Payneham Baseball Club.

He also served on the board of North Adelaide Football Club as finance director.

Lounder, Griffin and another Adelaide owner and director, Dr Richard Noble, also served on the North Adelaide board.

But SANFL officials asked the trio to stand down from the North Adelaide board because of their involvement with Adelaide United.

" I certainly wanted to stay there (Adelaide United) to assist and be the independent and that's what the whole process was there for," he said.

"So the decisions could be made hopefully on an unbiased basis, but what's happened all along is that one person dictates everything.

"I'd probably prefer not to comment on what we had achieved or not achieved.

"We achieved some good things on the field but I'm not so sure about the rest."

Griffin declined to comment yesterday.

Slow, slow Adelaide it seems that in their hunt for money ( although they've been guilty of giving nearly a million $ away to people who couldn't give a rat's about the club & culture ) the owner's have made this proud club a bit of a lame duck.

I was excited when United was first formed to replace City with a " REAL " people's team, and now I'm just hoping for a decent coach and players that want to play for SA.
If CCM can run on the smell of an oily rag, yet creating a no-name team that's always up there, Why can't we?

Coz there's so many Adelaide fans that feel over entitled and don't give anyone a chance to build something up for our team before wanting their heads on a pike...
