+x+x+x+x+xLooked like Ange referred back to the 3 at the back as well, they lined up as a 3-3-3-1 or 3-4-3 diamond midfield with 70% possession but had only 8 shots on goal for the match. Deja vou with the Roos during the end of his tenor when he changed system to fit in an extra midfielder. It either looks like he's getting a bit desperate or he's getting a tad more aggressive to stop conceding more goals, time will tell if has an effect. Even as a big Ange fan I find his dogmatic approach annoying. But it’s like most geniuses, they aren’t out to win friends. As a formation, I actually don’t like three at the back. I think that to call Ange P a "genius" is using the word so loosely that it loses any meaning. Some reality, please. Look, it was a rhetorical flourish but not delusional. It’s a worthy title and no worse than the hyperbole that others in sport attract. Ange is Australia’s best ever football coach, with several NSL and A-League titles, an Asian Cup and a J-League title. That demonstrates exceptional talent. And my reference to genius was as much about his dislike-ability and disregard for the views or feelings of people outside his inner circle, a common trait of geniuses in history. Ange is bloody annoying and hard to get behind, but he is our best ever coach.
Guus Hiddink is our best ever coach unless you are talking about Australian coaches. Crazy that a coach who places Mooy on the bench in the Syria-Australia play off is considered our best coach. Of course I am talking about Australian coaches. But even comparing what Ange did for the Socceroos against what Guus did, with the respective cattle they had, Ange’s Asian Cup win beats Hiddink’s second round at the World Cup, by a long way. I am not saying Ange is a better coach than Guus overall, that would be silly but in regards to their achievements in an Australian context, it’s actually still Ange for me. Your point actually highlights somewhat the Australian cringe about our own coaches.

Deni Juric should've scored and could've got an assist. Both moments are near the beginning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFa4o4QKu-g
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Not sure if this has been previously mentioned but this report suggests (but maybe Johnszasz can confirm google translate is correct) that Jacob Italiano is impressing at Gladbach and might be a dark horse for some first team action this year: https://www.90min.de/posts/u23-trainer-heiko-vogel-spricht-uber-gladbachs-talenteJacob Italiano only turned 19 on July 30th. A year ago he was allowed to do the preparation with the professionals, but this time he is with the U23. But that doesn't mean that the Australian has no more chances to go up. 90min has exclusive information, according to which Gladbach's sports director Max Eberl was at the U23 training camp in Willingen and had a long and intensive conversation there with Italiano. The content of the conversation is not known, but it is likely to have been about the attacker's perspective.Heiko Vogel said at Fohlen Hautnah about Italiano: "Jacob is sparkling with enthusiasm at the moment. He has a lot of feeling for the situation and the space and he has great walking paths. His nature is more of an introverted type and his talent allows him to do even more Take responsibility. In my opinion, however, he is on the right track. "

His coach said he's evidently enjoying his football and has a good touch. His coach said he's going in the right way. All nice and hopefully it'll be a great reserve season for him. Gladbach have an abundance of strength in attack and only an injury crisis would see him even close to making the bench. See what happens.

+x+xUtrecht's opener put back to Dec 27. Dec or Sept? December. This game is their opener but the calendar is so rammed they just found a date to play it. Utrecht and Alkmaar I believe are the opponents will need to wait a week longer.

+xThere is no relegation in the J League this year due to the effects of COVID on the season. Some clubs are using this as a development season from what I have read, so I don’t think he’s going anywhere even with a poor season. We have a meaningless season every single year :(

Beadling starting for Barrow, Bobby Burns not in the squad.
Iredale on the beach for Cambridge, Wes Hoolaham is starting.
No Blackwood which i assume is because he only signed last week while former South Melbourne defender Piergianni is starting.
Burgess is partnering former North Qld defender Mark Hughes in defence.
Ryan Williams and Edwards on the bench.
Luongo starting.

Rale Rasic's team making the World Cup (16 team) in 1974 and performing credibly with a bunch of semi-pros, after losing their main striker in Ray Baartz to me is still the best achievement.

Not sure for the exact reason that Ryan isn't in the squad. Could be injured or could be sorting out a loan to get minutes. Would be odd for him to be out of favour given their investment in him.

Arnold shipping nine goals in a 1-9 loss to Arsenal after a 34th minute red card, van Eggmond coming at half time for West Ham not stemming the tide. Cately starting for Arsenal but coming off after only 19 minutes, Foord coming on in the 59th minute and getting the cherry on top with goal number nine for Montemurro.

Could be a lot of aussies on the bench this season with the girls.
Mccabe has shown more than catley in 60 mins at lb. catley could lose her spot. foord comes on late every game with 15 to go. Scored a tap in late. arnold had an ok game for west ham, the defenders in front of her were terrible. Going to be good exp but going to get peppered with multiple goals against her. vanegmond is too slow, needs midfielders behind her feeding her the ball or she becomes non existent. Don’t see her lasting long with the mids around her.
