Erik beautiac now playing champions League Vs Olympic

Well there you go! Matt Derbyshire played for them (Omonia Nicosia) and has now signed with Macarthur Bulls. Wonder if Erik had anything to do with the connection?

Kits are good. Wish the home was a bit different to last years though.

The fan pressure after the “white sleeves” season was not to mess with the orange ... so thry May have gone a bit gun shy .... but agree with Clockwork, black pinstripes would work (as would a pattern similar to what City did on their second kit).

It still irks me that the badge on the first kit is different to the second kit (solid white Lion vs. outline only of a Lion). I much prefer the club badge on the change kits but Fong know day they’re always different??

Not surprising.  Any good facility that soccer doesn't own gets consumed by NRL/AFL.

It just shows the value of  management getting contracts right.
Who pays for water? Geez who would have thought to get it in writing.
Roar should change their name to Brisbane Bums .After 15 plus years still homeless.

Agree.  The legals were obviously poorly executed, and for that the club admin must carry the can.

Mark Kingsman (RIP) wrote that contract and - knowing Mark a little - I would expect he did everything right.

Logan Council appear you have an agenda whereby they’re working to get a RL club on the four Heritage Park fields, to do that they need Roar gone and they need Football Brisbane gone ... in true Logan Council style they seem to have found a way of getting rid of both as FB are leaving and Roar look to be following.

The contract is in dispute but Roar expect to win the case, so maybe keep your powder dry until a judge hands down her/his decision hey?

And far from being homeless Roar have an $18m Academy being built for their exclusive use on the Northside and - apparently - an offer of something similar on the Gold Coast.

Oh, and they have early stage plans to refurbish a brownfield site into a $60m//16,000 capacity stadium.

It’s not all bad.

“Obviously” nothing - do you know if there’s even a water meter connected to the field supply?

And if all the former Logan Council staff are backing Roars stance that they weren’t expected to pay the Field water then Roar are in the right.

Home kit is acceptable but rather un-remarkable, definitely the worst since the first white trimmed umbro kit of 14/15.
i think the away strip as a whole is terrible. the pyjama look of solid single colour top, shorts, socks is terrible it didnt work in 14/15 with all orange. have kit designers learnt nothing from then and the roos banana peel kit.

it's funny though the white top will probably look quite good on supporters with jeans or any other colour shorts, but no one will buy it because it looks terrible as a playing strip.

It’s interesting how many teams have gone for white away this season, maybe it’s cheap?

White shirt with black shorts would have looked good.

Orange - I’m always relieved when they don’t  F’ck around with it. If we stick with a plane orange shirt, black shorts, orange socks to the day I die I’ll be happy - go crazy on the second and third kit imo

I wonder where that site is, I can't think of sites that I would consider "Brownfields" in a central location. Unless we do a swap with Souths Logan Rugby League, they take Heritage Park and we get Davis Park

Hopefully when we do leave Logan it will be with a tidy payout from Logan city Council for carrying on like a bunch of pork chops. There would be a good chance of a new centre up at South Pine, the new council is definitely looking for opportunities like this and there is a fair bit of un(under)utilised council owned land around there that they would be looking at, only problem will be the gap between now and when that could be ready.

From memory the (stadium) brownfield sites that have been mentioned could be:

1/ Sleeman Sports Center (the outdoor velodrome already has a decent stand that could be used).

2/ Perry Park

3/ QEII - either the main stadium or the Hickey “Stadium” to the side

4/ Albion Park - presumably the raceway there.

It’s significant that FQ backed this in their infrastructure plan, just as significant is their CEO sits in Roars Advisory Board

Go the Northside for new venue. They'll get sunny Coast fans as well and still close enuf for Sth siders and most GCst fans.
A Sth side venue will lose Sunny coast fans on seats.

Yeah, the FQ plan mentioned these sites (except for QEII), although the price tag they were talking about went up to $100-130m (the cost of going through the public sector?).

Of those sites: Sleeman and QEII are out of the way and have zero high-capacity public transport. Perry Park is in an unbeatable location but you would have to accommodate the Strikers (and deal with the YMCA). Albion Park would be good but what is happening to the raceway? Can't see a stadium fitting in if that's not going anywhere.

The best site I've heard about would be Boondall. It's way up north but right next to a train station, and has huge amounts of parking already in place. And presumably people already have familiarity getting there with the Entertainment Centre. There's lots of empty space just crying out for something, and a 15,000 seater stadium could fit in the lot between the station and Melaleuca Drive (with more parking put in north of there). Are there any reasons why this couldn't be a goer? Would the state government put roadblocks in place because it would be "competing" with their stadiums?

If a Boondall stadium did take place I could see Roar becoming a north-focused side, with a second division including Strikers (for the centre) and either Lions or an Ipswich bid for the south-west. It would carve up the city quite well into distinct sporting territories.

Boondall has all of the same problems that QEII does, would be pretty much a white elephant in my view, too hard to get to and from particularly from the Southside and has no other things around.

I wonder if there is any sites down around Northgate that would fit the bill? Still on the major train lines (and it is a station that all trains stop at) with plenty of other things around for pre and post game, and would work if there was a general North side pivot with the academy and training grounds at South Pine.

That would have to be part of any consideration by the club when looking at this, go to far North or South in search of cheaper land for the stadium and they become a North or South Brisbane club, stay in a central location and pay through the nose

That’s pure nonsense. It’s only in Australia that we define clubs this way - Brisbane represents the city irrespective of where they base themselves. There’s numerous examples around the world eg Man Utd don’t represent one part of Manchester over another just because they play/train closer to Sale and Stockport. We have to stop thinking this way!

In terms of land. Property developers get first pick on most land hence the brownfield site plan is quite smart but it does restrict options. The intriguing one is Albion Park as I thought the raceway was settled there?

If Roar played out of the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Redcliffe and the like, I am sure there would be a lot of people who would consider jumping to any second Brisbane club that got created and played out of a stadium closer to home.

It is especially true for us because we do not have a core of legacy players that we can say "they are the Roar". I do not mean we do not have a team - I mean we do not have much Roar history in our players so there is not much loyalty to the players in that regard. Just whether we would have loyalty to the brand.

In this sense, playing location could play a bigger part than you would give it credit for Waz.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Qld task force recommended to government that existing stadiums continue to be utilized, as opposed to building any new stadiums and or converting any stadiums to rectangular design, to any decent standard.
The only solution is really for Roar to play out of Suncorp, Redcliffe, Robina(-nah) or the Sunshine Coast. The Politicians don't share the same
sentiments that the football people have, to supply the required high standard facilities in strategic areas to suit.

Who represents the City of London Waz? Or would you say people tend to support clubs representing different geographical parts of the city?

London is a perfect example - if you apply Australian football logic then Arsenal, north of the river, represent North London and theres no room for Spurs.

Also applying Australian football logic - if you don’t live in, near or we’re born in Woolwich you’ve no right supporting Arsenal.
