Great post.

I sincerely hope Simon Hill has had a chance to rethink what he's written - just because someone is a professional journalist (and not an ex-pro, blogger, or random keyboard warrior) doesn't necessarily mean they always uphold the principles of that noble profession.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - 'asking the tough questions' is very different from bullying, badgering and hectoring to provoke a response, and digging deep for a story is not the same as cherry-picking evidence to support a preconceived conclusion.
Surprised Bruce avoided using the word 'pissant' in his interview tbh.

I suppose their job is to sell papers, and they're succeeding. It just sucks that the Advertiser is the only outlet for football news in Adelaide, so it's not like the fans can go elsewhere if they want to read United news. Sydney and Melbourne have their hack tabloids but also have the SMH/Age as an alternative.
The Independent Daily should get a football writer on board. I'd definitely read their articles over the Tiser,

Agree with all of this. It's also especially easy to see why Josep would get so frustrated when Val's "tough questions" are the same friggin' questions every week. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Glimpse of Red on show in Congo

Thursday, 2 January 2014 6:45 PM

Adelaide United FC is delighted to be able to show some gear donated to areas of DR Congo.

Early in 2013, through the help of Adrian Harris at the Birthing Kit Foundation of Australia (BKFA), the club sent over a range of playing apparel and equipment which has been utilized by the Uvira District together with the Luvungi community.

The club received initial notification that the gear had arrived but as a follow up, the BKFA have created and put together two photo shows to describe the impact that the items that you kindly donated to assist the youth and orphans in Luvungi, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Dr Luc Mulimbalimba Masururu, who received an award as the most promising development leader in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and a certificate of excellence for his leadership in development, started the program and has been a key driver developing projects to reduce poverty and promote proper and affordable health care.

The gear was part of a bigger container sent over containing a range of goods from Adelaide, and since it arrived, a six team football competition from four areas has started, and in a letter addressed to Harris, Dr Luc expressed the people’s gratitude.

“I am so grateful to inform you that the youth of were very pleased to receive the sports equipment from Adelaide United and they formed a team called Luvungi United soccer club for the sake of showing oneness and love between Adelaide and Luvungi,” Dr Luc said.

“We distributed the equipment among the big centres of Uvira District namely Luvungi, Uvira, Sange and Kiliba. Every Sarturday and Sunday the youth meet to play soccer for the sake of promoting peace and development in Uvira District.

“Everyday before they start playing they have 30 minutes of advice amongst themselves where they discuss different topics and every time they are grateful to Australia for the container they sent.”

I don't thibk Gumby will change the backline that has given us 3 clean sheets in a row, Unless he thinks Boogard provides more creativity with the lack of Carrusca.

Supposibly there will be 3 bay's for the juve club of Adelaide. Chanting for del piero only.
If they are from Adelaide but won't support their local club over 1 player I don't want them there

Juve/Adelaide City supporters are pretty much the same thing, City fans find it hard to support United as they believe their club should have been in the A-League (well after the initially rejected the offer!).

Let them chant, as soon as ADP subs himself off the rest of SFC will run around like headless chooks.

We are getting so much worse every week that we must be close to the stage where Del Piero on the pitch cant save us. If you guys do beat us tonight please make it a big win in hope Farina gets the sack.

I hear you buddy, I think he still might bang in a goal before he gets subbed though. Maybe a repeat of the 7-1 NQF shellacking would help?

Too much butthurt over Juve fans from AU supporters. I'm not a Juve fan, I'm an AU fan and if ADP presence brings more people through the gate then so be it. He's been outstanding for the league for this exact reason. Let's face it the man is an absolute legend and to see him in flesh (even if his a little slower) before he retires is a rare opportunity of some people in Adelaide. Get over it.

Where you at the game ? They were seriously taking the piss! A whole bay of juve fans with a pull over tifo of black and white stripes for adp.

It was adelaide united vs sfc vs juve / adelaide city . Bit of a joke.

When Sydney scored not one of the juve bays moved , when adelaide scored still nothing from them. The only time there was movement in those bays was when adp took a corner.

IMO there is a difference between going to a game because a big time name is playing as opposed to all but dis-respecting the other players and 2 clubs on the pitch .......it's just my opinion but it was cringeworthy
