Been very impressed with Jeggo these last few games, without him this week, so Mells will probably get a fair chunk of time, may even see Ochiong get some minutes. Or maybe even Malik moving forward as Elsey's back and LaRocca didn't do anything wrong against CCM, but the Brisvegas strikers are a fair bit better.

Thought this made for some nice viewing Form ladder of the last 8 games GP W D L GF GA GD Pts 1 Melbourne City 8 5 2 1 24 12 +12 17 2 Adelaide Utd 8 5 2 1 13 5 +8 17 3 Sydney FC 8 4 3 1 13 7 +6 15 4 Western Sydn 8 4 2 2 13 8 +5 14 5 Brisbane Roar 8 4 2 2 10 10 0 14 6 Perth Glory 8 2 3 3 10 12 -2 9 7 Melb Vict. 8 2 2 4 10 11 -1 8 8 Wellington 8 1 3 4 6 12 -6 6 9 Newcastle Jets 8 1 2 5 4 12 -8 5 10 Central Coast 8 1 1 6 10 21 -11 4 Definitely a loss with Jeggo out this week. He was a bit of a scapegoat for a while but our midfield just wouldn't function without him running box to box allowing Isaias and Carrusca to play their positions effectively Edit - god damn formatting. Looks fine in the screen you type on. Sorry Can be viewed here http://www.soccerstats.com/formtable.asp?league=australiaEdited by davide82: 18/1/2016 04:59:07 PM

Also, as far as our ACL team goes, I assume we don't have to name a final squad til after the qualifying game?
Feel so sorry for Pablo as I feel like our 3 foreigners can't be anyone but Isaias, Carrusca and Cirio

If we qualify our squad will probably look something like this.
1. Eugene GALEKOVIC 2. Michael MARRONE 4. Dylan McGOWAN 5. Osama MALIK 8. ISAIAS 9. Sergio CIRIO 10. Marcelo CARRUSCA 11. Bruce DJITE 12. Mark OCHIENG 13. Dylan SMITH 14. George MELLS 15. Ben WARLAND 16. Craig GOODWIN 17. Mate DUGANDZIC 18. Jimmy JEGGO 19. Eli BABALJ 20. John HALL 21. Tarek ELRICH 23. Jordan ELSEY 24. Bruce KAMAU 25. Ruon TONGYIK 26. Thomas LOVE 27. Jordan PUDLER 28. Antoni TRIMBOLI 29. Sergio VAN DIJK 30. Daniel MARGUSH 31. Doni POLLOCK 32. Nathan KONSTANDOPOLOUS 33. Jordan O'DOHERTY
With hopefully Troisi to fill the number 22 spot, which would take it up to 30. Haven't seen that much of the youth team boys so I just went off what I've heard and the games I have seen.

On Pablo, I noticed he asked to be subbed off after 70 minutes. He probably doesn't have the body to handle the long travel and quick turn arounds that might be required. He's one of my favourite players in the squad at the moment but for the fitness reason, it might be his last season for us too. That makes a bit more sense as to why we're looking at SvD at the moment.

An extremely reliable source has told me that the Troisi deal is off but it wasn't to do with the money being given. SVD also appears very unlikely to stay after the Champions League campaign and nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Don't know what WSW were on about with La Rocca? He was pretty bloody good as a CB yesterday against Roar, in fact I reckon that's the best I've seen from him. With Elsey doing a damn fine job at RB ( except he doesn't go for runs down the flank ) I think Marrone may have stiff competition. United's defence looked very secure yesterday, I really enjoyed Elrich's runs and through balls, and Chelo's goal was a thing of beauty.
Sad to see Babalj's future under such a big cloud. The poor bloke must be devastated - Hope things go smoothly Eli.
And so good to see Bruce score, hope it's the tip of the iceeberg.

Interested in AU fans thoughts on George Mells' progress. Had big hopes at the start of season and after the Liverpool game, but Friday was the first time I've seen him since.i know he hasn't had a lot of game time, but thought he was a complete passenger. Anyone else?

Anyone else? I don't know if your understanding of football is sound? But you have an opinion ? His instruction was defensive and cut out play. Also his player was Hervas who did very little, so I guess the contract they offered him after game was for being a passenger as you say.

Getting a bit nervous/excited about Friday night Looked at all the fixtures that effect us and tried to do some realistic predictions (based on the assumption we will win of course)
MVC v WSW : draw Roar v CCM : Brisbane win MCY v Newcastle : City Win United v Sydney - United win
The table would then stand
Roar 34 WSW 34 City 31 Us 29 MVC 28 SFC 27
Obviously City and Roar losing would be even more amazing but I will take this that's for sure
What's United's best ever winning and/or undefeated streak?
Guess I can google that myself....I won't

If we play like we did vs Jets we will be in trouble
I need to see us beating the teams above us before I'm convinced Brisbane was a nice start, actually we beat Sydney too in this run didn't we
Hmmm and drew with WSW aha All that happened while I was still away so I get confused
Sydney will play like Sydney always do away Play for a point, foul, niggle and whinge
I honestly believe that our best is better than Sydney's best in a head to head and going on form and being at Hindmarsh....nah, I can't say it. United will never let me feel confident
