THURSDAY, 19 NOVEMBER 2020 Brisbane Roar has bolstered it’s A-League squad with the addition of exciting Japanese young gun Riku Danzaki. Danzaki joins the Roar from J1 League club Consadole Sapporo where he made his top-flight debut at 18 years old. The 20-year-old scored his maiden goal for the club in just his third appearance – a 4-1 J-League Cup win in April 2019 – a competition in which Danzaki made eight appearances and Sapporo finished as runners-up. “I have heard a lot of good things about Brisbane,” Danzaki said. “My strong points are getting involved in attacks, scoring and creating goals. I am looking forward to joining Brisbane Roar and giving my all for the team.” Head Coach Warren Moon says the exciting Japanese product is a superb addition to his squad, and one the Club’s passionate fans should be excited about. “We are stoked to have a player like Riku in the orange jersey for the upcoming season,” Moon said. “At such a young age he brings with him terrific experience having played in the top league & cup competitions in Japan. These competitions are not only some of Asia’s finest, but feature some of the world’s best players. “He’s a player who is coming to Brisbane to develop himself as a player and continue building what is sure to be a huge career in front of him – he’s regarded as one of Japan’s most exciting prospects. “He will not only bring experience, but flair, enthusiasm and talent that I believe is a massive addition to our squad and will be exciting to watch this season.” BRISBANE ROAR SQUAD UPDATE Goalkeepers: 1.Macklin FREKE, 21.Jamie YOUNG Defenders: 3.Corey BROWN, 5.Tom ALDRED (c), 6.Macaulay GILLESPHEY, 16.Joshua BRINDELL-SOUTH, 19.Jack HINGERT, 27.Kai TREWIN, 28.Izaack POWELL, 29.Jordan COURTNEY-PERKINS Midfielders: 8.Danny KIM, 14.George MELLS, 15.Jesse DALEY, 25.Rahmat AKBARI, 26.Jay O’SHEA Attackers: 7.Jai INGHAM,
10.Riku DANZAKI, 11.Joe CHAMPNESS, 23.Dylan WENZEL-HALLS, 77.Scott MCDONALD

+x+x+xAny danger of us signing any new players? Other clubs building nicely and we’ve done SFA. Brisbane Roar has bolstered it’s A-League squad with the addition of exciting Japanese young gun Riku Danzaki. Pretty happy we’ve gone for an AFC player. Hope he’s fast n good. I am happy with him knowing nothing much about him. I hope he has the skill and composure to convert chances rather than just another quality midfielder who can put brilliant passes through to players who miss more than they hit. Come on DWH - this is your season! Really getting quite excited about the 5 December games.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Brisbane's squad looking pretty solid and forming nicely, smart addition considering they will play in the ACL next season as well.
They shocked most people by making finals last season, considering there horror show start to the season. Got some faith in another top 6 finish or at last a fight for it again this season.

I'm not going to get excited yet. I'm waiting for other teams' supporters to drop and let me know how we will go.

Any thoughts on how we'll line up? The signing of Champness makes me think we're back to a 4-3-3.

I have a feeling this signing is either going to be genius or complete bust, and it is impossible to work out what ahead of time due to his limited playing record. He did play for the Japanese U18 team from what I can tell, so he must be an ok player though.

One thing for sure,we are getting more pace and agility up front,so Fowler slow ball may be behind us. We may even see a fast counterattack.

Just checked the AFC Champions League 20201 wiki and it shows us ranked fifth with places as you described.

How did the fan forum go last night, I found the stream towards the end but the audio quality wasn’t great so I couldn’t hear much.

Hi mate, it would be Kristian Brymora I would imagine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kristian_BrymoraPretty sure he's a left-winger/striker, who's predominantly left-footed. Think I remember seeing him play for a club in NPL Victoria [I feel like it was Green Gully] but that's not mentioned on his Wikipedia.

Riku Danzaki on a free Loan.... not sure if that's good or bad. Value is 300,000 euros. So not sure if I am as excited as I was at first. Happy to hear more info on this.

Don't think we're going to get much info on someone who has only played a couple of games in Japan. Just have to trust that Moon has done his due diligence and is confident he'll perform. Would be interested to know when he's travelling/starting quarantine.

I just saw that all our home games are up at Redcliffe this year, that sucks, i can see Suncorp from my place and it was a easy wonder down to the game and have a few beers.
Im guessing a lot of Southsiders are going to be spending it of time on the bus/train.
I've realized that a inner city 20k football stadium is never going to happen

But success at Dolphin might highlight the demand for it, and for it to be completed ASAP. And while on the Brisbane Roar topic of the forum, I dont wanna create any enemies, a relocation to the North might open up room for a second side within the south?

Happy to see the draw. With unavailability of pitches etc its always funny to see what crops up. Play MacArthur in rounds 6 and 9, and don't play Western United until the 19th. A game is a game, and they start on the 29th! Yahoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roars location should not determine where another side should go - pro/rel should do that

All jokes aside, I'm looking forward to the season ahead. It should be fascinating, and I am looking forward to see what MacArthur can do. It will be a big test for Milicic.

There have been rumours since the first season of then "Queensland Roar" looking for a smaller football stadium, just couldn't find the money or get the right backing to make it happen. I just can't see it happening now with a debt low out the Covid 19 has caused with State and Federal level, unless it was targeted by other governments for creating construction jobs. I've always thought that there should have been a north and southside brisbane teams from day one under the franchise plan, but that ships moved on and promotion and relegation with a B League is the future.
