+xHey lads, long time no talk, just thought I would pop in and see what everyone's thoughts are on the upcoming season. Anyway, I'm finally jumping back in and getting a couple memberships with the old man and uk bros this season and was just wondering if you get allocated seat numbers like at Suncorp at Dolphin stadium. Say I go with platinum, will we get seat numbers or is it just sit where you want in that section? I went through a trial membership run to test it, picked platinum, no of adult tickets etc but no seat numbers come up at the end. Sorry if this sounds stupid, just haven't been to redcliffe in a long time, heard of upgrades etc, been stuck in Adelaide for a long time and heading back hopefully mid January. Welcome back Mr B and great news on the membership.
While COVID restrictions were on they were planning to issue seat numbers as part of the COVID-safe plan, which also came with restricted attendance.
Normal operation is no seat number allocated at Dolphin but I got an email about 3 weeks ago asking me where in The Den I’d like seats so I suspect they’re allocating seat numbers

+x+x+x+xWould like another mid but happy with that signing. Agree, for our midfield to work we will really need Daley, Akbari and Kim to step up, and that is assuming O'Shea and Riku are on fire as well. Having watched the game against the NPL All Stars I'm not sure they are all on the same page yet. The Forwards and Backs are looking solid though, just need to get the ball between them. Our Starting 11 is starting to look a lot stronger but it is still a bit hard to pick our best 11 and formation. we really are missing any attacking width so it is going to be a hard season for our left and right backs getting up and down the flank. my guess first choice/back up young hingert/JBS Aldred/(Nevile when he gets back) GIllesphie/JCP Brown/JCP/Powel Daley/Kim JOS/Akbari Smd/dwh/ingham Riku/Champness Riku/DWH Kudo/Champness Will Moon think highly enough of Neville to go to a back 3 when he returns instead of using him as an alternate centre back for Aldred/Gillesphey? Neville probably looking forward to returning to the A league. I see in India, Robbie Fowlers East Bengal sit bottom, not managing to score a single goal after 4 games. At least Neville will be getting plenty of practice defending.

At least Neville will be getting plenty of practice defending. That's not surprising. Fowlers method required a parked bus to to slowly drive forward in attack and pick apart a stacked defence which never had to worry about fast counter attacks. It might work when you have absolute quality attackers who can pick holes through a defence and a keeper who can save fast counter attacks.Otherwise its a grind, which is vulnerable to any mistake in defence. Having said that, maybe his style has evolved and his team is losing in scorefests.

+xGame against the Jets today is being streamed on the North Coast Football YouTube channel if anyone is interested. I think we are definitely looking the better of the 2 sides, only time Jets have looked really dangerous is when they have snuck in behind Gilesphey. Other than that we have had a fair few good shots and the combinations seem to be building between the players

A few things from the Newy game for me... - Moon is obviously treating it as a pre-season trial of youngsters against experienced aleague bodies to see how they handle it (always at least 5 youngsters on the field). - For the most part, body on body, Newy won those strength battles - but not without more than the usual number of hacks, trips and shirt pulls. The young Roar players will have to develop better body positioning and/or strength to move forward. - Stay out of the fking puddle. The number of times Newy pinched the ball from our players running through the puddle and they never learned not to take it there. - We need Macca on the field to spearhead the build-up and create pressure. - Champness on his own is not enough of a threat against reasonably paced, experienced backs to rely on to win games (but he will at times I am sure). - A bit of same old Roar play with so many youngsters. I was actually hoping to see more of Moon's preferred first choice team as a guide to how we are shaping up. Still, live, free football is a bonus and no complaints here.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Good to see live football. Roar not with a full strength team and I cant really say anything is different at this stage, regarding their play other than Champness seems to be the main outlet up front and he didnt pass a few times when good options were available.. Both teams preferring long balls to get through the midfield.

I think that was overall a pretty good effort, Newcastle were a lot better in the second half and we struggled to get the penetration we did in the first half (the puddle played a big role in that I think 😁😁).
Joey Champness was probably the key player for us, when he went quiet in the second half we struggled. We have a generally solid team but he is that X factor that will break games open.

Pretty even in the second half. DWH with a few good chances was most dangerous for Roar. JOS and Gillesphy heavily involved. The team looked reasonably solid without anyone standing out . Whoever partnered Gillesphy was ok. Parsons reminds me a bit of Borrello. The Jets were also solid with Ugarkovic ,Thurtell and Some other guy using plenty of skills to beat Roar players in transition. Jets experienced backs as you would expect had good games. ROD busy upfront with good support from his wingers ,whoever they were. I expected to see more players get a run from Roar. But nothing of Scomac ,Aldred ,Hingert or Danzaki.
Good to see despite all their woes Jets are far from a train wreck on the field. No Ibini or Petratos’s fro them today.

I think we dominated until after we scored then lost the midfield and let them back in. I liked champness I thought dwh would get the nod over him on the left when we have a full strength squad but now I don't know. Daley reminds me of mauk, very busy but not quite on the right wavelength. Hopefully that improves as he gets used to his team mates. Great goal from parsons but was not enough from him overall, he and jbs were very wasteful in the first half (the puddle didn't help) We were caught way too easily with Balls over the top and quick counter attacks which is concerning going forward. Add in the two Japanese players aldred and smac and we will be better but I think that has tappered my expectations. I think we are a 5-8 place team at the moment

Did we have a sell on clause for taggs when he went os? We could be in for quite a nice payday if so

+xDid we have a sell on clause for taggs when he went os? We could be in for quite a nice payday if so "FIFA says must be paid to any teams that contribute to the development of a player under 21 who signs their first professional contract with an overseas club". Taggs was born 2 June 1993 and transferred to Fulham 24 June 2014. 21 and a couple of weeks. I doubt that was coincidence.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

But don’t know what exactly if i remember correctly it was reported that we accepted a very low offer but inserted the sell on clause and the club was "very happy" about it. we sold him for 150k when he was valued at 750k-1.5 mill. hopefully the club does well on him

The Den is set to announce the use of safe smoke at their first home game against the Nix, recent photos and videos posted to the Official account of the Den on both Instagram and Facebook give an indication of what they might look like.
The day on which they were tested was quite windy, windier than usual due to recent storms. The specific products have been used down in NSW for games by Sydney FC and the Newcastle Jets. This is a first for Brisbane fans to experience safe smoke that is used over in Europe.
A pyrotechnician is required to be of attendance for use of these products due to Australian Laws. This is the reason that safe smoke will only be used at selected matches as of now until the den explores more ways to fund this.
If you have questions, fire away.

For health and safety, it's better that it doesn't hang around. 10 canisters will be used in each game and will be set off during "who are we".

So when do we think we'll first see Masato? I imagine he hasn't arrived yet, given there hasn't been any pictures from the club, and then 2 weeks in quarantine. Hopefully he's been keeping fit!
