Did Kewell debut in 2003?

No, he debuted in april 1996 as an unknown 17 yr old with only 2 first team games under his belt. The next season (96/97) he only played 1 match for leeds then exploded on the scene in 1997/98 season.

The point is Eddie Thompson had the foresight to lock him in at a young age. We did the same with Ikon and I'd argue Robertson is an even more outstanding prospect at a younger age. Absolutely nothing lost trying to cap him, and everything to gain ala kewell.

If Thompson hadn't have capped kewell in 96, its likely he would have been capped by England in the 1997/98 or at least in 98/99. Had of we waited for him to 'make it' which happened in 97/98 he might have been tempted to hold off for an envitable England cap. As you said he most likely would have been england's LM from 98 to 2004

I would say Kewell was closer to Foden at 17.. highly rated at youth level and broke into the team. But Foden/Kewell are at a different level to Alex.

Do I dare make a map like this for today's Aussies abroad, or would it be too depressing? https://twitter.com/MarkBoric/status/1347465862748332039?s=19

Like I said kewell only played a single match in the season after being capped so he was hardly making shockwaves when he was capped just good foresight.

brad smith would be the liverpool full back for the last few years if he declared for England, now he is going from minor league to minor league. Probably good to keep his options open

No Arzani for the reserves

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Just a pretty interesting/cool thing i came across when doing some trawling on Transfermarkt. There is a Bulgarian/Australian GK born in Brisbane playing for ZSKA Sofia the same club that Tomi Juric just left. Wonder if this young lad put out the feelers to Juric during his time there to see if he could get himself into the Aus underage system?

Wow. Even started a couple of games too which for an 18 yr old goalkeeper at a big club like Sofia is impressive.

0-4 now for Leicester against Stoke in the 80th minute, all over.

Souttar not really involved in the the first two goals, the first being an outstanding strike from outside the box in front of their midfield line, although Souttar seemed to be the only Stoke player to read it and came out to intercept, and a big slip up by another defender for the second.

Souttar sold out totally by the other defenders in the first of the late two goals, not tracking back and leaving him in a 2 on 1: https://streamye.com/vauo3

He was a step behind the goalscorer for the fourth goal though after attempting an interception: https://streamye.com/v9xpg

Vuka starting against Sainsbury's club. No Sainsbury.

Lyden starting against Ipswich in League One.

Full game and 1-0 loss for Beadling in League Two away to Milligan's old club Southend, although he did get by some margin the highest individual rating among his teammates on Futmob.

Souttar Highlights. A bit annoying to see but Leicester make a joke out of the best defenders. Good experience again.

3 goals were the mids not putting pressure on the ball carrier

the ball over the top should have been handled though

was souttar the one who missed the intercept or the one who got turned inside out after

McGree could play vs Man City today. Brighton usually rotate for FA Cup but I don't expect Ryan to play.

Alex Robertson maybe bench for City? He was training with the first team during the week

So close. City had a few players back from isolation, so Robertson didn't end up being named in the squad despite a couple of other U23 players being selected. McGree an unused sub in a 3-0 win.

Looks like Lyndon Dykes is completely stinking it up in the Championship. 20 something games and 1 goal from open play.

Even if he was our best striker, he would still be shit.
