+xSecond game in a row where Genreau has made contact with studs above the ankle by accident. Talk about unlucky timing... His look/demeanour actually reminds me of that mongrel ball boy' who got Marrone sent off. Good losing game for Jets. They show plenty of promise in their attack and could rip any team a new one on their day. ROD and Jets are not alone in the ability to miss goals they should hit. Story of the Roar for the last couple of seasons. Macarthur rounding out the game with plenty of excellent antifootball and a strong confirmation of Milligan as a smashing thug. His charge was much more dangerous, violent, and intentional than a red card incident in a recent game but not even considered for it. I think Lachy Rose had a better game than his last couple and showed a lot more skill and touch than I recall from his previous appearances. He deserved to have a bit of focus on him this game and did a couple of things with and without the ball that we don't see much of in our league - like his skill beating players up the wing and the speed and commitment going forward when he passed that ball off then flew towards the box with real intent. Defenders would have been worried by him for that run for sure. Quality finish from the Frenchman - not much time to consider options with the deflection which says a lot. As he has lost his pace, Milligan has resorted to serial fouling, much of it intended to cause a level of injury to the opponent. He's a thoroughly unpleasant customer and a reminder of how in my own long ago playing days, breaking into the state league div 1 as a 17 year old, that I learned very quickly that the players who would foul you with intent to injure were ALWAYS formerlt good players on the slide in their mid 30s. Milligan has become a thug of a player, and he's not the kind of player the Bulls want setting an example as their captain. And his theatrical protestations of innocense are simply offensive in their cartoonishness.

O'Donovan really needs to call it a day or have the Jets call or for him.

I know he's on loan from Melbourne City but Newcastle Jets have a gem in Najjarine, again he played a decent game but clearly he needs a goal for all his good work.
A creative talent, different from the amount of No.6s we got coming through.
The bulls we a bit better but they looked for Jets taking in the later part of the 2nd half, they have alot of tired boys in the end.

What about Loicy's bicycle upside down goal, Maate! Reminds me of Con Boutsianis or John Kosmina in the NSL days.

Bulls just not fit enough in the hot sun. But a win is a win. Any teams with older more skillful players will struggle against high tempo youthful teams in summer. But those more youthful teams may not have the quality to score. Will Jets get some luck against Brisbane? Both teams were pretty even in preseason.

Frustrating game, thought we were good for a draw in the end.
We only start playing after going behind. O’Donovan is past it, but we don’t really have an alternative. Slow and selfish. Yuel is growing. He's ungainly but effective. Been a while since we had a genuine Excitement Machine™. Najjarine can be something special. Deans is a nice guy, maybe too nice. We need a real manager. Our crossing is ridiculously poor. How many times did we hit the first man?
Still not convinced by Macarthur. So slow in transition. Milligan is a grumpy twat. Oar is possibly the least fresh pair of fresh legs you could bring on. When did he last positively impact a match? Expect more from Susaeta and Benat. **Obligatory mention of Lachy Rose, brought to you by Andy Harper**

Jets and Victory battle for the wooden spoon this year. CCM will join them after their little run comes to an end.

Bulls a bit lucky. Jets broke up their attacks with ease, certainly for the whole 2nd half. I guess worth remembering that they have some experience in the back four.

Macarthur were very, very poor. And ultimately very very lucky. With a bit of composure in the final third Newcastle could’ve won by 3 or 4. Najjarine is outstanding. If he improves in front of goal he’ll be some player.

Could be 3-2. Roy, Najj, Yuel all guilty.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

+x+xWhat was Genreau thinking..? He has given it away too easily a few times now. I'm curious about that Jets goal, If the defender is out of play, does he still make up the one of two who need to be there to keep the attacker onside? It's just as if the defender is on the goal line. Otherwise players and goal keepers could just step off the field at opportune times to force an offside

Its crazy how they still play summer afternoon games when they know it forces inferior play. No AL in the evening? Who makes these dumb decisions?

Really don’t know how to call this one. On paper it’s Macarthur but they’ve looked pretty bad so far.
