+x+x+x+xMay be inclined to have Souttar ahead of Sainsbury tbh and Holland instead of Watts. Can't see Holland getting a call. Only certain players are given free rein in a NT setup. Holland doesn't follow instructions and neglects his main job too often. Gets away with it at club level but at a higher gets caught out Hes one of few playing at a decent league in Austria and doing well, I think he deserves another chance to show what he's got again. He doesn't. He has never listened to the NT manager and caused problems every chance he has been given. NT players need to be playing for their teammates and the shirt - not themselves. That was 8 years ago!!

+x+x Ryan Sainsbury. Souttar. Degenek
Leckie. Mooy. Jeggo. Behich
Hrustic. Irvine
Boyle
Res - Watts, Deng, Elder, Mabil, Rogic, Maclaren, Grant, Nabbout, Piscopo, Robertson
That midfield is seriously lacking in game time. ?!? only Leckie and Hrustic not getting minutes - rest play week in week out

+xHope to beat Kuwait first then it's pretty much done I believe. Can have some fun for 3 games. I'm pretty sure Pala broke down the equation over a year ago. Victory vs Kuwait pretty much secures it. Oh boy, that feels like so long ago! As it stood we had a game in hand and a two point lead on both Kuwait and Jordan, so we only need one point off either of them to finish top, as long as we get six points off Taiwan and Nepal. The move to Kuwait has altered my expectations, but we are still in the box seat.

You’d assume he’s naming a 34 man group so he can take the bulk of the olyroo’s as well. Hoping we wrap up qualification so that we can play as much of the olyroo’s team in the last game or two.

The runner up table is still fairly weak. Get it done immediately then we can relax a bit. I'm sure Kuwait and Jordan will draw anyway.

Not saying he isn't a very good player, but not starting CDM for the Roos - you HAVE to have Mooy, Irvine & Jeggo in the midfield, with Hrustic, Boyle & maybe Ruka in front of them. Besides, has he even said he'd play for us or is he sticking with the Kiwi's?

He doesn't. He has never listened to the NT manager and caused problems every chance he has been given. NT players need to be playing for their teammates and the shirt - not themselves. Pretty sure this forum is the only place I've read about these supposed attitude problems. Have they ever been documented? Happy to stand corrected. I remember at Jets (way back as a teen) there were stories of him putting in extra training sessions to the point they were saying maybe slow down. I'm aware he burned off the Mariners as a kid too. He certainly did put in the extra mile. It would have to be on here that I saw such sentiments regarding his attitude but verifying it is near impossible. If so I think his youth WC captaincy and AZ deal may have gone to his head. It's just his trotting along and hogging of the ball plus bad passing in the early years left a mark on me. Glad he has been a late bloomer and this maturity means he'd probably enter the Roos squad an entirely different person. Thanks johnszasz and patjennings. Have to say my opinion of Holland is primarily coloured by his Newie stint when he just seemed a capable, super-hungry kid who gave his all. He wouldn't be the only player to have gotten a big head, though. I certainly was not impressed when he came back for Adelaide, but that team was a trainwreck. You could say the same about Ruka at Wanderers, but I feel like he's well and truly earned a recall. Glad both are doing well as I enjoyed watching them play in the A-League even if it feels like eons ago!

Agree - not a starter. As far as allegiance he is Australian born with a NZ father. He has declared for NZ when picked for their junior teams but that was when he was with Wellington. He came through the ranks of the CCM Academy before that and is back at CCM now. I'd ask the question. Closest thing we have to a Mile style CDM that we have seen for a while. Certainly a different style to the 3 you mentioned but gets through a ton of work.

Just noticed there's no mention of Bozanic in this thread. Deserves a recall.

It's been such a long time between games.. I think its time for a new era.. I wouldn't mind seeing Luongo, Duke, Risdon dropped and replaced by the future in Watts, Baccus and Karacic.
If we bringing Souttar he better be playing every game possible.... needs to be bedded in.

Let sainsbury and Degenek (who are super experienced) get us through then let’s start giving him more games. Agree he is the future just need to be careful.

In fairness to him, he only played 60 mins of club football in 2020 due to injury so it might take him a while to get back to his best.
