+xIf they’re going to spend any money on the stadium they should target the drainage. I was meant to say this last night but why did Roar always go down the wings where there drainage was the worst, massive puddles and stoppage. If you look at Nix in the second half, a lot of their best chances came from going down the middle, Roar seemed to always go down the right in the second half and do nothing with it.

The team plays wide, always. That’s the way they have bee drilled and it’s hard to break. Unless you have a top coach and better players that is.

Interesting news with Jamie young still contracted for next season but allowed to look at other offers.
Already being 35 at the moment. There's probably 1 or 2 more seasons in him. But not really good that popular player being told you can live close to retirement.

How well does any player perform when he actively trying to leave the club and join another? Roar better start looking for 1st team alternatives ASAP.

+xHaven't they still got Freke?? Yeah Freke is still around. Pitty about Jamie but look at it this way, I don't think he was one of the highest paid players in the league and this is probably his best chance for one last decent contract, especially if one of the Melbourne clubs have been circling. I don't really like players leaving contracts early, doesn't sit well with me but he has given this club 7 or so years through some pretty tough seasons. That's more than most. I'm wondering if this and the Gillesphey issue indicate they're struggling with the cap or some other constraints. Looking at the team, I'm betting Moon thinks he's going to have to strengthen further up the pitch next season and doesn't want to get into bidding wars for positions he thinks he has some cover for. I reckon we may be on the lookout for 2 or 3 forwards/attacking mids next season. Bare me out: DWH - stocks are rising so no doubt he attracts some interest Champness - technically on loan, not sure where that lands plus I guarantee other clubs are looking at him Danzaki - a reasonable chance of not getting his loan renewed given his form. They may want hime back in Japan McDonald - gone already Kudo - still a big question mark, I think he's only on a one year deal and not sure they've seen enough to extend Parsons - not sure what his contract is like or whether he's locked down There's a decent chance Moon needs some cash to try and retain or replace players next season. Especially because I'm sure they had to cough up to keep Aldred and O'Shea. I reckon there's a decent chance we'll loose at least some of the above. We already know he probably needs someone in that deeper lying role behind the strikers at the very least. So I think given all that they may have made a calculated decision to cover the guys in defence with what they have so they can dip into the market at the other end.

I doubt all this.Look at other clubs and who they have. Two Visa players who hardly would be big money and SFC have five quality visa players and decent Aussie players. Unless we are the new CCM spending wise.

I look at the Manu field protests with interest. I’d be happy to join a similar protest against the uninterested Barkries.

Everything points to Roar having owners who arent ambitious and have a CCM mentality of keeping costs to minimum over winning anything. Mid season transfers of key personel to opponents for nothing is just dumb business. We get weaker and our opponents get stronger. Can Macca play against us? Young and maybe Gillesphey leaving for more money? How much more? All our Aussie players are on the cheap im sure.Who would be highest paid? They are all youth or squadies really. Fowler got the job based on buying cheap UK players and Moon got the job based on buying NPL players.Kudo presumably was a bargain and Danzaki a loan for experience. Quite strange really ,considering Once we were spending quite a bit. Not Brisbane Roar.Brisbane Poor

I don't think the owners don't want to spend the money. Surely things are better than the loss making exercise of playing out of Suncorp. Be interesting how much each club gets with the tv deal. But it's looking like we don't want to even spend the cap

I very much doubt roar spending the cap. Compare Sydney or MC players and what that costs to what Roar is likely costing. I don't know for sure but it doesn't add up to me.
Thing is if you at a club that is likely to win something you might play for less than say playing for Roar that is not likely to win something if the best keep moving on.
so therefore Roar need to spend the cash and get in that challenging and desire for success mentality and then maybe Young, Gillesphey, Macca and others will scramble to come to Brisbane and want to stay.
thats how it was 10 years ago or so I think.
Broich could've gone to any club in the Aleague but Roar were a winning club.

I'm not too upset at Jamie going and not worried at all about Macca but I'd like to see Gillesphey stay. id like to see him in the 6 position as an experiment. When Aldreds back and Neville now back I'd push Gillesphey into the 6 just to see what happens. Theres little to lose. Offload Gol Gol throw that cash at keeping Champs and Gillesphey. theres a start ! Id be keen to absolutely keep hold of Champs, he caused problems v Wellington. i was at game and everyone had their eyes on Joey.

There’s a danger in losing lots of experienced players.Just ask AU and the Broncos.AU realized their problem early on.The Broncos realized too late.

Young has been with the club 7 years, so the loyalty program would mean not all his wage fits into the cap, so we should be able to pay overs compared to another A League club. So if he's going because he can do better financially elsewhere its not a good look for the club.

I think they as the owners don't care how it looks any more, I mean Roar already hit rock bottom perception wise when the whole world saw numbers falling off the back of the players shirts. Just one of many unprofessional looks from the club over the years, how the mighty have fallen. 😐

Roar absolutely deserved that win.
WU had great game. Well done Roar and kept Diamanti to a few scarce chances although he played in Wales for the goal.
Berisha is past it now. Surely Rudan will let him go after this season.

+x+x1 down 2 to go. I had that pegged as the hardest of the 3 as well.
It was more a comment on how crazy this season has been, that we could be 8th and win our games in hand and go first. I had the Nix as our most dangerous opponents - but our players out I thought would hurt us tonight more. Of the 3 teams in question, Nix to me is still the team that we have had more trouble with over time - and as silly as it is, that does seem to hold true season after season. Beat Nix and I will be calling us contenders - the "ifs" that Paulc and I discussed ad-nauseum earlier in the season have been lining up. And IF we can win games with our makeshift defence (that did pretty bloody well tonight) then that speaks volumes for us at full strength. Go you Roar! Footnote: Still not getting carried away. Just hopeful as ever. 2 wins and 1 draw is a pretty good result from the last week, I think we are contenders after that. Although I think City have 1 hand on the premiership at this point.

it was a really good game to watch. first half we were the better team. it felt like WU had the bulk of possession but really did nothing with it where as the roar had some guilt edge chances that on another night go in.
after DWH header was blocked by scott early in the second half i said it was not going to be our night but the did extremely well to get back in and on the whole deserved the points. the change in formation really put pressure on WU and i think the impetus that Daley brought when he came on changed the game a bit. he got stuck in and moved the ball quicker which put WU on the back foot.
unlucky DWH goal got crossed out because i think he deserved a goal with for the effort he put in, but well in danzaki for the winner and Brown for the pass which was sublime.
Champness struggled a bit with the wet (as he did against wellington).
hopefully we can keep it going now.

now we can look to the city game moon has said he is going to rotate the squad so i think DWH and Champness will definitely have a rest, with Kudo and parsons getting a start.
my line up would probably be
young Hingert Neville Trewin JCP/Flotman Brown Daley Jos Parsons Kudo GolGol
subs: JBS, Danzaki, JCP/Flotman, Powel, Dehmie.
I would like to give Jos a break but not sure if we have combination that works without him.

Whats news on Aldred? We could really do with depth. Trewin has done really well and doesn't look out of place. I has really matured and rarely puts a foot wrong now.
Maybe moon is comfortable with a O'Neil Trewin Aldred back 3 for next year. But Gillesphey is really showing his class as the season progresses. Is actually a goal threat for set pieces which is handy as well.

I think Neville trewin Aldred is a pretty damn solid back 3 and i think JCP should get more of a run as i think he could be the best of them all. but GIllephie will be missed as he is ever dependable and is a very calming influence.
