U don’t need to get knocked out to suffer concussion...and plenty of evidence about to say repetitive ‘soft’ knocks have a cumulatively negative impact...

Players will simply have to sign off that they can’t sue the game or other players for the effects of getting hit in the head... I reckon 99.9% today and yesterday would... cos they love to play... even those that don’t get paid.... it’s fvcking sport for Vick’s sake...

Then parents wil have to get formal consent for their kids to play juniors...

The issue is so much bigger than footy... I’m not old enough to remember the Brigham thing.... that’s how long at least the ‘current’ ‘ real issue’ has been an issue...

I’m glad I grew up when I did... and I’m glad I’m not gonna be here to see what the anti fun anti risk world completely controlled by lawyers, insurance companies, and Instagram will look like in 50 years...

Enjoy doing nothing fun you soft litigious woke transhuman cvnts who lack accountability...

A bit of drama queening going on here about “the end of sport”.

The reason concussion is an issue is about duty of care. And rather than come up with fairy tales about it, just look to The NFL for the history and the future of how it’s dealt with. Any of you DQ’s think NFL, the sport effected by the concussion issue more than any other on the planet, is gonna end any time soon?

The reason they got into trouble is they had their own information about the effects of repeated concussions and did nothing about it, in fact covered it up. The result a compensation pool of about $80b over the next 60 years. Their solution to avoid any further litigation is HIA protocols and limiting full contact training sessions to 17 per year, effectively one per game - we’ll probably get the same seeing as we’re following their lead.

That is providing a duty of care, that the highest paid litigation lawyers on the planet have said will protect The NFL.

All The NRL are doing is protecting themselves the same.

NFL will survive, so will the NRL.

Having mentioned T Baz, I cannot explain it I just have this gut feeling that T Baz is going to be our coach for a long time. He is going to serve us well and will be a very successful coach. Players will want to come to the Dogs just like they now want to join Melbourne and Bellamy, Canterbury will once again be a benchmark team. Watch this space.

I agree 100% ODF.

In our attack against Csnberra I noticed Wakeham sweeping to the other side of the ruck.
Our attack already has more purpose and structure than it has for 5 years, that is when players stick to the plan.

Mostly we need better players, some players are improving, and many have at least stopped going backwards.
Many seasons of losing is messing with the players heads, put a few wins back to back, we will be a different team.

I am also happy with team selection under difficult circumstances.

I hope Anoni stays, he is the kind of player we need to retain.
A few wins will help with recruitment and retention.

I was one of them and I havent changed my mind.
I think the Broncos under K Walter's are heading towards rebirthing their team faster than we will.
Kevin (being a half himself) has identified that their spine needs an overhaul and is looking at getting Hynes, Staggs, Reynolds and Hodgson. Good mix of youth, speed and experience as well as game management- their biggest Achilles heel.

He has realised that having the best forwards doesnt alone equate to success on the field, if you cant capitalise. So he is offloading some to ensure he fixes the spine first and focus on defence later.

In my opinion it's the correct strategy.

Will be interesting to see who out of Walters or Barrett can elevate their teams to contenders again and who can do it quicker.

I think the exact opposite. Both Walters and Barrett will not be coaching their current teams in a number of years after very little success. I’ve lost all faith in Baz.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just as yet Micko. When you hear TBaz talk you get the impression he knows how a team needs to play in this modern era of rugby league.

For the first time since Kevin Moore, I feel confident the coach and club is heading in the right direction.

Whether or not TBaz can actually change the culture, playing style and roster to get there is the only question mark. He really needs to show drastic improvement towards his goal by mid next year otherwise the knives will be out.

I feel Kevvie has it slightly easier. He is under alot more pressure, but also has a larger pool of juniors to pick from and a club that can move heaven and earth to get big name players. He might find himself looking for a quicker fix due to the pressure rather than play a long ball game.

As soon as I saw Newcastle's backline teamlist 1min before kickoff I tripped over myself to get on the Cows at 13+ at juicy odds of 2.70.

Its 16-0 after 20mins with Cows having 6 line breaks...

So with these new rugba leeg rules, how long till the smart coaches figure out that they just have to train their players to slip or duck into tackles until the opposition has 2 or 3 in the bin and you win the game.....????

You couldn't have fekked this game any better if you tried....

Don worry the cows should have  plenty of  fresh player late in the game. Maybe a 5 minute bin for low impact or those with mitigating circumstances such as a significant, sudden drop in height by the ball carrier. 10 minutes  is an enormous penalty in today's  game with the  application of the rules so biased  in favour  of the attacking  team.

Yes i think 5min bin is a good compromise for the time being.
We cant continue to have the games decided on accidental hits.

What a bludger of a game....

Lots of trys don’t necessarily equal enjoyable footy...

Both sides really took Oztagby League to a new level in D tonight...

Really enjoying players pleading for a penalty when the changing winds caress their cheek... Feigning injury from alleged crusher tackles didn’t really enable their acting skills to really shine...

You and I share similar concerns with where the game is heading.
Milking for a penalty or getting players sin binned will become a greater attribute than speed, skill, kick bag tricks or footy brains.
They might even need a new category of Dally M awards.

There was a ripper of a tackle by a Cows player (may have been Conelly Leumelu) who chopped a Knights player across his ribcage and nailed him to the ground.

It wasn't high too risk head contact.... it wasnt too low to risk knee or foot injury.... it was... lets say, right in the middle?

Yet the players momentum rotated him passed the horizontal and even though the player extended his arm to cushion the impact, this brilliant tackle was deemed foul play under the guise of "dangerous"

I reckon they should look at anything above the nipples attracts a penalty. I think it will achieve two goals and make everyone happy.

It’ll get arms and shoulders well away from the head in tackles.

And I think it’ll make the game tougher, yes tougher. They stand and try to wrap the ball up now, wrestling more important than impact. They’ll have to try something different, like stopping the bloke in his tracks and sitting him on his arse with a good shot to the body and ball.

of course the coaches (Bellamy) won’t like the opportunity for offloads and 2nd phase play it’ll present, but stiff sh.t, I don’t think anyone who watches the game will mind. And like I said, they’ll just have to invest in training a new technique - it’s called TACKLING.
