+xMore evidence building up. 34 players excluding those for Spain. I reckon Ikon is due for a call up with the way he's come back while Deng is going to try to stake a late claim. With the U23's away, we might just see Mileusnic in the big camp. Makrillos with 8 goals in Bulgaria. It's time to get Karacic in I think. According to reports: Locks: Ryan Grant, Sainsbury, Degenek, Souttar, Wright, Behich, Smith Irvine, Mooy, Rogic, Holland, McGree, Hrustic Boyle, Leckie, Mabil, Ruka, Maclaren, Borrello Strong claims Thomas, Izzo Atkinson, Deng, Good Dougall, Ikon, Metcalfe, Taggart, Giannou, Duke, Goodwin, Petratos Mentions Federici, Glover, Redmayne Strain, Pierias, Karacic, Tongyik, Risdon, Burgess Ryan Williams, Mileusnic, Makrillos, Lyden, Bozanic, Brattan, Juric Out due to injury or Olyroos Armenakas, Cleur, Juric, Kalik and Watts Elder, Langerak, Jeggo, Luongo, Nabbout I've named 20 locks, 13 strong claims. So pick 1 from the mentions. So after all that, who did I forget? I think the four keepers will be Ryan, vukovic (has been training with John Crawley), redmayne and glover.

Also, arnie said last night with peacock and slater that if he picks a player for the roo’s camp that is eligible for the olyroo’s it practically guarantees he will be going to the olympics. He is using this roo’s camp as a camp for the Olympic certainties as well and will try the three overage players with the young guys to give them more time to gel and see which overage players he needs. That means guys like mcgree, deng, metcalfe and souttar are certainties for the olympics. Then if he picks guys like glover, genreau, Aiden O’Neill, Baccus, strain then they are certainties for the olympics.
I’m hoping he picks one of or both of the toure boys for this camp, I think he needs to blood them now to give them the experience. In my opinion they will be roo’s players of the future.

+xGK Thomas RB Karacic RCB Deng LCB Degenek LB Smith DM Sainsbury RM Mabil CM Irvine LM Hrustic AM Mooy S MacLaren I was going to include Goodwin but thought his form might have dropped off recently. Maybe Adelaide fans could update on how he's going. If his form is good was going to have him at LM, Mooy at CM and see how Hrustic goes at AM.

+x+xWhat would it be after such a long time between drinks? GK: Ryan RB: Karacic CB: Sainsbury CB: Degenek LB: Behich DM: Mooy DM: Irvine AM: Hrustic RW: Boyle LW: Mabil ST: Rukavytsya Subs: Langerak, Thomas, Souttar, Good, Elder, Watts, Jeggo, Rogic, Leckie, Piscopo, D.Juric, Maclaren Looking for players who have really banged down the door this season however it is quite hard in some positions. Have to say the quality of wide players has gone down the past year. Past Mabil and Boyle there are so few players who are staking a serious claim. Quite possible that I am missing some obvious selections. I’d have grant ahead of karacic, jeggo in for mooy and Maclaren ahead of ruka. Pretty sure Jeggo injured? No way is he as good as Mooy! Ruka over JMac too

Great news and well done arnie. I haven’t seen him play so can’t comment but purely based on level he’s currently playing and games played one would assume he’s the first choice.

Also, with Langerak pulling out now it seems Ryan is a lock for the captaincy. The other candidates of sainsbury and Leckie aren’t even guaranteed to be in the first XI. Credit to Maty to become the national team captain and can’t say it’s not deserved.

Listened to Elder on Simon Hill's podcast. What a well spoken person. Really thorough answers and seems very switched on. Leadership group player if he develops well in the next 3 years.

Arsenal's last game of the Premier League season is against Brighton, and because Maty is on loan from them he's not able to be named in the matchday squad.
It's great timing though as it means he can join the Socceroos squad early in Dubai and get a head start on acclimatising to the conditions.

Is there a reason why this discussion isn’t occurring on the Australian National Team thread? Especially with the Socceroos camp and WC Qualifiers coming up it would be good to track everyone’s excellent thinking and views in that thread. Maybe I am not understanding the purpose of that thread?

He would go in at LM in my team. I thought he would have been excluded because of Olyroos duties. Harry Souttar also although I still wouldn't include him in my starting 11.

Maybe I am not understanding the purpose of that thread? Yeah line-ups come here and related conversation seems to flow. I think this is at least a decent example of a strong, specific, parallel thread. Many new threads posing a single question that get only four replies could easily be posted in a current thread that has relevance.

WOW... you know they both play in the same leagues right? Stoke also will finish above Birmingham. McGree - started 5 games, came off the bench 11 times scored 1 goal. Souttar - started 39 games, 3 assist and a goal. I'd be giving harry the fucking armband so he doesnt go back to Scotland. Insane logic...

I'm working on the assumption that Arnie is going to play a high line. If they don't then Harry is one of the first ones on the sheet.

A lot rest with Arnold, he has to think about structures and formations...
I think he will go with a 4, 2, 3, 1 or a 5, 3, 2, 1... the key will be the striker and the wide players getting good ball into the box...

A 5321 will be interesting, might have to slip some cash to the ref though so he ignores the extra player on the field.

Personally I'd be happy playing Mabil ahead of Leckie these days.
