+xSo...... Direct swap DWZ for Mbye. Thoughts?
While we just swap one overpaid player for another, personally I reckon Mbye may just be the best DH on the market for ‘22. Either way we’re gonna be over paying somebody for next year, is Mbye a better option than DWZ.
At the end of ‘22 you can punt him or keep him at half the price if he works at DH, and he might just do so, might not either. But is there anything to lose?
Is that the rumour.... no thanks to Mbye Would rather keep DWZ if that’s the case. The one player we could benefit from in a swap from the Tigers who I believe has plenty of upside is prop Thomas Mikale

+xI Baz picks the right players in spine positions, I think our attack will fire. 1. Meaney 6. Averillo 7. Wakeham 9. Topine. 14. Daley There have bern signs in recent weeks that the attack is improving. Pick and stick for at least 4-5 weeks. There is no other player at the club that offers anything substantial in these positions. Perhaps Davis in the halves is the next option. Recycling past failures will not get us anywhere, those players need to be smashing down the door form wise to change my mind. Daley has a good wide pass, Topine could play as a running lock with passing skills. This is just a fan opinion and Baz might disagree. But after the bye is the perfect opportunity for a reset. That will only happen if the team selection is right. I look forward to Bazs response...

Mbye plays more positions than DWZ but I haven't seen much of him at DH. The Tigers seem happy with Mbye at 5/8, these rumours seem like real long shots to me.

No Mbye for me... Rather stick with Deitz and juniors before bringing a bloke that has been playing rake in recent years...

+x+x+x+xGreat to see less sin bindings this week... and last... but what a mockery it makes of doing what they did in Magic round... Still too many soft penalties marring most games though... Is there anything you don’t whinge about.... Crikey!! Next you’ll be telling us you don’t like drinking Beer.... Bring on the Canadian Club and dry!!!... So u disagree magic round was a farce and the are too many soft penalties for incidental or in tonight’s game no contact???...
i guess I I should expect a fan of the round ball game to admire the Logie worthy performances of an increasing number of players... Look.... so far T Peachey & D Laurie lead the way for the Gold Logie Lets see what our boys can dish up? I’ll bet you $100 your client Idiot Elliott will cop a high shot from an opposing player & somehow find a way to give the opposition a penalty Lol. He'll play the ball (even with a concussion) and then punch the marker!

No way. I'll take DWZ any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I couldn't wait to get rid of Mbye.... Only Tolman and Lichaa were in the firing line before him.

Probably the worst thought or consideration I have heard in years.

+xI’ve seen you mention this a number of times now - the Belmore thing. You should know none of our players do or have lived in Belmore or the surrounds almost ever, except for JR because he was a f***in’ idiot. Most tend to live in the Shire. The mid 2000’s team which won a comp were split between the Shire boys and the country lads living out at Cambden/Picton. where they train has nil effective negatively and in fact given the facilities is a positive. Then they all go home... not to Belmore. But I still make a fair point.
If you have the money to live in any area of Sydney where would you live? And if you can live a short drive from your workplace wouldn’t you also do that?
Manly and the Chooks have it all over us because of this. Penrith and Parra are probably behind us but they have a huge nursery of talent who grow up in the area. Cronulla and Saint George areas are where most Bulldogs players live but that also gives both those teams an advantage because of distance to the workplace.
There’s nothing we can do about it but we have to acknowledge it when we are trying to sign players. Meaning we need to pay overs for outsiders and more importantly develop a huge junior area.
It does feel like we are the next Newtown currently. I hope I’m wrong.

It does feel like we are the next Newtown currently. I hope I’m wrong. If we are having this conversation this time next year it is a bad sign, becuase at a minimum we might have the wrong coach. So far I think we have the right coach, and the squad isn't as bad as it appears to be. The only thing that will calm down fans is some wins, I still expect to get some. We are a chance most weeks but no chance against the top 4. If I am wrong and we have the wrong coach, we will know by this time next year. That doesn't mean the club is a basket case, merely that they made the wrong call. I am not aware of a better alternative coach, I mean one who we could realistically get. Anyway Baz needs 3 years. unless the first 2 years are a disaster. I will cross that bridge when we get there. For now I am backing the club and I think we are getting a lot right. Fans just can't see beyond the win/loss column, the ladder position or the scoreboard. Building the right combinations and developing players is more important now.

It's a real kick in the guts to be worse than what we were last year. That is the real problem for me. I think Barrett has the right idea on how to play footy but the recruits have been flops and the existing players just cant change their ways - it's a real shock and disappointment at the same time. We had some key acquisitions and really should be no worse than the Broncos this year - yet we are, both in ladder position and in the way we play. I see an article on smh about that Kiwi All Blacks coach Hansen and him finally coming to Oz after numerous Zoom calls to the team and Barrett. I told Zef his appointment didnt fill me with any confidence so mark him down as another flop. Him bring here in person wont change shit - especially since he could have come weeks ago when the travel bubble opened yet he comes now to watch his racehorse. We have made further acquisitions for next year which should have put us in the mix for top 8 but given the way this season has panned out, I think Barrett will have his work cut out. Come mid next year if the results arent favourable, he'll be under pressure.

That's pretty harsh Marki, when you know yourself even Bellyache would have trouble igniting this rabble. Our new acquisitions have been left holding the fort while a bulk of the so called first grade squad have gone AWOL due to the fact they will not be with us next year and therefore don't feel the need to earn their pay in 2021.

I don't think our acquisitions are that flash. But local young players have a lot of promise, Topine, Doorey, Averillo, Schoupp, Wakeham. Atoni I can see Baz is working on the attack. Defence wise, we only had the combination of Jackson, Topine and Thompson last game. Get the defence in order the attack will improve young players will improve. The imports will look better when the team is playing better and defending better. The same players have been letting us down each week, it was noticeable that the team played better with Jackson back, Elliott and Thompson seem calmer and took fewer dumb options.

My rankings of newcomers..
Wardell- ok, may be a good player in a year or 2. Allen - solid and dependable with out being dynamic. Flanno - great attitude tries hard in attack and defence, under pressure from day 1, doesn't seem like an instinctive player - will need to work hard, but could still become a good NRL half. Dietz - some potential needs another off season, a bit off the pace. Seafood - really good attitude far better player than I expected, but still a bench or depth player.
There are lots of lower graders including some in reserve grade who seem to have potential.
Looking at the depth across all grades we are stronger, the NRL side just hasn't found the right formula.

If rumours are true and T Baz/club has allowed DWZ to make the mid season shift how does that benefit us especially if we pick up half his wage for 2022?
Surely the likes of Idiot Elliott & Stimpson should be given the green light to move as both have been failures in 2021 more so than DWZ. Both players offer zilch!
He’s got a few flaws DWZ…. But, I wish all our forwards took on the line with gusto like DWZ, we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in currently.

I’m going to back Marki on this one. It’s not harsh at all. Our new players have all been failures.
Flano was dropped. Alan was moved away from the fullback role to be replaced by DWZ. Hetho makes very few meters and spends most of his time on the sidelines. Waddell should be nicknamed the ghost because he go’s missing everytime a hard run needs to be made. Cotric has proven to be a better winger than a centre but only just.
Am I missing anybody?
