Welsh runs through the line from 3m out, and ends up in row fekking D when Hughes finally ran behind his position and they somehow..... SOMEHOW!!! Find an obstruction
For fucks sake.

How incompetent is this game Next time Tedesco returns the ball and makes even a slight angled run, I'm SURE there will be another rooster somewhere 40m upfield that would constitute an obstruction.... How fucking pathetic is this rule. Its beyond belief

Good game, Storm a bit guilty of trying to score on every play.
Drinkwater very good, in fact in attack Cows halves are good.
In defence Dearden is a liability, in fact the Cows defence is so bad it is a wonder the Storm haven't posted more points.
Looking like a rope-a-dope, but Bellyache will probably sort it.

No, no, no, no, no. I’ll save you HD after that comment…. Let’s just bring back the 11th Immortal to play Halfback!
I think he’s still playing over in the UK… with possibly London Bronco’s, or maybe it was Derby County in the EFL… look, he’s just a phone call away! I think his dad’s dad supported the Bulldogs, so there’s links there!

As far as this morning 's rumour goes, Pearce is not the answer. I don't know how Baz is going to address the issue although he is not totally out of options...... not yet anyway!

Somehow I feel they really needed to delay the Olympics again. I cant imagine there will be many world records broken with no crowds to push the athletes...

If Pearce isn’t the answer who is? If you could choose any halfback in the comp to play for the dogs who would it be? Now cross off Cleary and DCE because they are not available. Who do you pick?
Pearce if fit and costs less than 500k is the answer. Nobody else comes close. Yes, I don’t like the bloke. And he has some skeletons. And he is injured more than I would like. But for two years he teaches the young guys how to win.
What are the other options?

If an experienced No.7 is what T Baz needs…. then on the cheap, Shirley it’s got to be “Holla for a Marshall”
I wouldn’t expect 20 plus games from Benji, but Used sparingly, he could work.

Mick O, I wouldn't have a clue what Barrett wants or who he wants to play at ½. I just don't think Pearce is our answer. It wouldn't matter what I thought anyway because I'm not the coach. Just as an observer though, I think internally TBaz still has options before looking elsewhere.

Do we need an experienced half? Often that is code for a guy with no running game. Baz knows what a half has to do. Under the new rules, vision, footy instincts and execution are what is needed, a half has to present a running threat and or have an exceptional kicking game.

I dont think going after Pearce is a necessity... but if we do, it tells me Gould and Barrett are thinking challenging for a title in 2022 and not 1 or 2 years after that which is the minimum time frame I expected. You have to also remember that if we get Pearce, he automatically becomes that Captain that I have been talking about. ...but I still dont know what that means for Averillo...unless he moves to centre or unless Burton partners Naden in the centres...

+x+x+x+xDOGS’ SHOCK PLAY FOR PEARCE James Hooper from Fox Sports July 23rd, 2021 8:31 am THE Bulldogs are the latest club considering making a play for experienced Newcastle halfback Mitchell Pearce as part of the Belmore rebuild. Canterbury-Bankstown power brokers and major sponsor the Laundy family have received a phone call from a third party reminding them of Pearce’s availability as of November 1.Pearce is currently contracted with the Newcastle Knights until the end of next year but with plans to move Kalyn Ponga into the five-eighth role and Jake Clifford to play halfback the Bulldogs are looking at Pearce as a live option. I would have preferred Reynolds but Pearce would work very well. If he stays fit he would be great for Burto I don't rate Pearce, maybe he is better than Flanno. Regardless, I doubt that he is on our radar. Reynolds is good, but was always overpriced. If Brooks is punted from the Tigers, I am interested, sure his defence needs work, but the attacking side is good. Let's get the pack sorted then give Burton, Averillo, Wakeham and BBO one season to show what they can do. Ash Taylor is another talented player out of fashion. I would rather back Baz to develop a young player or get a talented player back on the rails. Pearce is neither young or exceptionally talented, sure he has good games, but also plenty of bad games. I would also put Sezer down as another, sure he struggled to seal the deal earlier, but the talent and instincts are there, the price might be right. These older players, rejected by their current clubs, need to be realistic about price. There is a reason clubs are moving in other directions and that equation is talent and impact per dollar. Pearce is easily a much better player than any of the others. And easily the best available halfback in the comp. It’s a signing that needs to be made while we have young players who need some help. It’s a Stuart or Kimmorley like signing.
Love him or hate him Pearce is one of the best halves in the NRL. If we get him cheap we will be a chance to make the finals or better if everybody stays fit 'Love him or hate him" I think that is the easiest option to decide ever....and remember we have a dog as a mascot.

At the moment we have just been boosted in our forwards stock with TPJ from next year and just waiting to see what's happening with Vaughan, they're very positive signs. We have assembled a killer backline that can hold their own with anyone and the inclusion of a top line ½ and hooker would be the cherry on top although it's not the end of the world if we don't. Instead of rushing out to blow SC funds on these positions we should just sit back wait, you never know what's around the corner. Plus the troops we have may not be top flight but would be adequate behind a decent pack until we find who we're looking for.

I doubt we are recruiting Pearce, if we did Averillo would go to fullback or another club. Any additional half we recruit should be one reserve grade wages becuase the young players deserve first shot and are the long term solution. What has Pearce won recently? Newcastle lost in week 1 of the finals last year. Newcastle finish 11th in 2019 only one spot above us. I have seen Pearce have very good games, bad games and games that are a non-event. He was a better player 5 years ago, add in injuries and a high salary. If he was a gun like JT, Cronk, or Alan Langer even at the back end of the career with injuries and a high salary then definately woth it. Pearce is not in the same class.

Although seeing what Cheese has done in this season in particular, I would make him my franchise player and pay him 1M a season to join us. He was probably the most influential player to get Melb over the line yesterday and aptly supported by Olam and Hughes. The inclusion of Papenhyluyzen (and refs) nearly cost them the game, but the class of Cheese, Hughes, Welch and Olam got them home. If theres an opportunity to get cheese, we MUST. Even if we think BBO can do the job in a couple of years.

Pearce has the runs on the board while Burton and Averillo dont. If we were a top 8 team and looking to challenge, I would be more for it. Given where we are at atm, I'm neither for or against it, assuming we don't pay silly money or it pushes someone like Averillo out.

Money is my major objection, if we offload Flanno as part of the deal, it makes more sense. I prefer Burton and Averillo get first shot at the halves and that is the other reason why I don't like the idea. 3rd reason is I genuinely don't rate Pearce, and haven't for years. 4th reason is hooker and prop are higher priorities. Sometimes fans form different opinions, I would rather stick to my opinion and be wrong, than gloss over it.
