If they are going to keep going into lockdowns then job keeper has to come back.
The country cannot stay afloat/run with half the people doing home schooling or businesses shut

But hows that Byron Bay bloke...reportedly didn't believe in Corona or the experts, didn't do the right thing but now suddenly goes to the experts and expects help in the hospital?

Well if they went around saying smoking doesn’t kill blowing smoke in peoples faces putting 100s in danger then it might vaguely compare

So covid cases in Dubbo and Walgett,  grew up in Dubbo and spent a fair bit of time in Walgett, Brewarrina etc. Obviously spreading out from Sydney and I'm not sure and haven't seen any evidence but what are the chances the the aboriginal communities might be somewhat more susceptible? I do recall it being mentioned last year when this broke out they made an effort to protect central Australian communities.

I can see it spreading interstate from Sydney,  my parents live on the Murray and they've been able to move freely from Vic to nsw at night with no checks and daytime with just a licence check. It's being tightened now but the police have stated they don't have the facilities or resources that they had for previous border closures.

My bet is it'll come down the Hume highway in Vic quicker than from Melbourne to the regions.
Gladys needs to have that ring of steel.

ACT get to join in the lockdown and masks (again) fun

Template as follows:

Dear citizens of [insert jurisdiction name]

Unfortunately there has been [0 / 1] (circle appropriate) case detected somewhere within [insert jurisdiction name]. This is a serious matter and your health and well being is important to us. Thats why we have decided for the next 3 / 5 / 7 (circle appropriate) days you will be under the following restrictions:
1/ Face masks indoors and outdoors at all times
2/ You cannot leave your house aside from 1 of 4 reasons, and also to get vaccinated
3/ [Throw in one or two further restrictions for good measures as it gives the illusion we have thought about this]
4/ Dont forget face masks. This should be point number 1 but another reminder is also good. Dont tell anybody yet but once the restrictions go this one should be in place for the next 6-8 weeks as it is super dooper critically important

We trust you will be cooperative during this time as we want to avoid further lockdowns and unnecessary restrictions for weeks to come

Sincerely
[Insert Premier's name]

China probably had a head with the vaccine development :)

I think AZ, Pfizer and Moderna are all approved for full use in Australia (not emergency).

Probably why we have our own testing regime and approval process. 3 of the doctors resigned from the FDA approval board because the advice was ignored.

Well in Australia the government doesn't seem to care about any of that.

Will be interesting if this European tariff bill they're trying to get through for carbon laggards gets through. We'll be buggered then.

28 days quarantine for Olympians coming back to South Australia.

Fucking ridiculous.

Fully vaccinated. Tested before, during and after and now subject to restrictions not in place anywhere else in the world.

Meanwhile Australian Olympians that went back to Europe are posting on Instagram themselves on holidays in Spain, Italy etc.

McDonald’s Franchise Settles Suit Involving ‘Dog Diaper’ Masks

Workers at a California restaurant said inadequate safety measures, including unsuitable face coverings, were to blame for a Covid-19 outbreak.

Workers at a McDonald’s restaurant in Oakland, Calif., said their employer provided them with masks made from the diapers in lieu of bona fide masks at the start of the pandemic last year. They were also given masks made from coffee filters, they said.

After complaining, the employees said, they were given proper disposable masks but were told to wash and reuse them until they frayed.

Angely Rodriguez Lambert, a former worker at the McDonald’s who was one of the plaintiffs, said through an interpreter. “We were being treated like dogs — giving us dog diapers to use as masks. We are not dogs.”

Ugh

It's a bit over the top but not as much as its being made out to be.
1. Being tested "before, during or after" is irrelevant because they're concerned about infections between the hotel and the airport. "Not anywhere else in the world" is just spin.
2. They're not being told to quarantine in a hotel, it's at home. Still not great but at least they have access to their normal comforts fresh air etc
3. Everyone has to do it not just them. My sister did it last year

I think a compromise could be found, they bend over backwards for the AFL, maybe an incubation period in isolation and then out after a negative test but its way over blown.

Interesting discussion in the UK regarding how to report covid cases as they move from classifying Covid as a pandemic to being endemic

‘With Covid’ or ‘because of Covid’?

Professor Paul Hunter said the way infections are reported might need to change as Covid-19 becomes endemic so that people are not “frightening ourselves” with high numbers “that actually don’t translate into disease burden”.

He told the the session: “I think we need to start moving away from just reporting infections, just reporting positive cases admitted to hospital, to actually start reporting the number of people who are ill because of Covid, those positives that are symptomatic.

“We need to be moving towards reporting hospital admissions that are admitted because of Covid, not because they just happen to be positive and they’re being admitted for something else.

”He said the distinction in someone being ill with Covid or because of Covid is not always an easy one to make for clinicians, but added: “I think we’ve got to start moving to that, otherwise as infection becomes endemic we are going to be frightening ourselves with very high numbers that actually don’t translate into disease burden.”

Its going to be the likely standard soon especially as Delta recedes and more people are vaccinated. Singapore already doing this. A lot of higly vaxxed countries that have opened, the death rates are still low. UK are unlikely to have lockdowns again - imagine us still having lockdowns in 2022 when the UK opened up in July 2021. It will happen.

Zero covid chasing countries like Australia wont do this for at least 6 months as too many are brainwashed with fear. I'm a broken record but we are fucked. The overwhelmingy majority will be vaxxed and the governments will just move the goalposts and I guarantee we will have lockdowns next year.

Once everyone has had a chance to be vaccinated, we need to start having protests of fully vaccinated people demanding opening up. This pressure needs to be put on politicians

A lot of "mystery" cases in Melbourne now spread across all areas of the city. This will be at least a 4 week lockdown now, probably 2 months. How can this be sustainable? Difference in Victoria is the Qdanon crowd who worship Dan.

we shall see before by the sounds of talkback on the way to office this morn, Sydney.
Word or goss is glady and all are discussing of opening up a little end of August for Only those who are vaxxed.
Talk of opening Pubs/bars probably restaurants as long as employees are vaxxed as well obviously.
How they track that is one thing, I suppose proof of your vaxxed certificate on your mobile.

NSW/Sydney will be the blade runners as expected IF this is to happen or even at a later date in Sept/Oct.
They will have to run the gauntlet, it will happen for otherwise a revolt will occur sooner or later.
