+x+xLeave recruitment and retention to the experts, myself and Villi. Sorry, you’re right… Kevin Locke and Nick Meaney are the future… Settle… haven’t you got a board meeting to prepare for your client?

Nice finishing game - especially for the deaprting players.
Tigers had a weak team and imploded after some injuries, but we also played well.
I think it's fairly obvious that when we move away from our predictability, we can catch defences off their rushing line and make good ground. Katoa is unpredictable at dummy half and the markers and defence line has no idea which way he goes.
Wakeham looked comfortable out there today and is a confidence player. I like it when he chances his arm in some plays rather than go into his shell.

Dman could’ve played dummy half today & we still would’ve won by plenty

Job done 😁 Nick Meaney will be missed. Finally played the Turbo role and looked good. Newcastle thought he could be another Tedesco as a U20 but the Dogs never gave him a real chance to prove that. Fair enough, behind a weak pack, poor halves and Desball play he never could show what he had. Bellamy would have been smiling after watching him today.

When we have 6 tackles on the opposition line he only looks for someone to barge over.

He's a smart and solid player with very few bad games. He'll thrive at the storm. More so than Reimis I reckon. But it's ok, we have Dufty who is more of a weapon in attack but nowhere near as safe in defence. After next year, we can decide what we want from fullback spot.

It's the unpredictability in the minds of the markers and rushing defence. He gets our forwards on the front foot and that usually equates to 20m more from our sets of 6. Its VERY significant.

Meaney deserved more chances at fullback and Wakeham deserves more chances. Sometimes young players need a few seasons. IMO Meaney looked bigger, played tougher and was more involved for most of this season. Previous seasons he seemed timid and didn't play tough. But why we continually tried Hoppa and DWZ at fullback is a mystery. Why Flanno played ahead if Wakeham when we moved to QLD is another mystery.

But why we continually tried Hoppa and DWZ at fullback is a mystery. Why Flanno played ahead if Wakeham when we moved to QLD is another mystery. I dont think we lost any games having DWZ at fullback and Meaney on the wing. Meaney did fine on the wing and DWZ did ok at fullback. The problem we had was having Cotric, Meaney, DWZ and Allan and no decent centre to partner Hoppa, not to mention Hoppa being poor in most games bar the last few... Too many non strike players or out of form players. Funnily enough, we did better when DWZ left and Cotric was out for season. JOK had mixed games but overall OK. But you are right, the punishment of Wakeham after the covid breach was poor management by TB and the club. I reckon it certainly cost us another game or two. In the end, all we found out was what we knew after week 4. That Flanno was garbage and we were best served with Averillo-Wakeham or Avo-Lewis. Even Lewis-Wakeham was ok. TB is not a rookie coach and so I expect him to not be making these mistakes.

I hope Hetho plays on the edge next year.
Would be the quickest in the game, and powerful too.
I know he’s got his faults, but the ultimate rough diamond. Could be anything.
If there was an award for Most Effort for The Club he’d win it in a landslide. Never leaves anything on the field, 100% effort every minute.
I love him.

If we are sitting around at Rd 8 next year saying Meaney is missed we are fvcked… I wish the bloke all the best but a great game against that mob is nothing to write home about… They were carved up by fullbacks all year…

The guy with that speed and evasiveness was never used until the last couple of weeks as a game breaker in the line. Instead he was one of the 5 hit up guys before the kick. Hanging around the ruck today showed his value. If we are relying on Dufty to do the same we are also fvckd.

Did you miss every game he played at fullback over the past three years???… Ample opportunities to get involved in the play over that time… And still serious doubts about him returning the ball with vigour from kicks and putting his body on the line in D… Hes a reserve grade fullback that had a great game today against a reserve grade side… and reserve grade is where he’ll play the majority of next year injury and perhaps origin aside…

I think tn may may work out as I would move TPJ to the middle. As to why we won, the Tigers were poor we defended as a team with lots of effort. Against admittedly poor opposition. Meaney was great. Wakeham very good. Most of our other players good. So it is a combination of the opposition being poor and us playing well. But at the start of the game the Tigers forwards played well, our spine was better than theirs and for once the ball bounced our way.
