+xWow the big bash brains trust innovating yet again!!!… they easily surpass NRLol levels of innovation!!!… 75 seconds for a batspersonage+ to reach the crease after a wicket, or the bowler will get to bowl one ball at the stumps while the batspersonage+ stands at square leg!!!… If there wasnt already enough reasons to not watch ‘crocket’ already, we have another!!!… I would let the umpire know I was bowling that delivery underarm… On a (leg) side note, I am hoping they would do away with the term ‘middle stump’ this year as I find it to be a triggering symbol of toxic male masculinity… and a tragic acceptance of deforestation… The slope is so slippery I can’t climate… I suggest the term "politically unaligned stump".

Looking forward to the Ashes!!!… Especially when the Team wins a toss and bats… Next highlight will be a side not enforcing the follow on…

Cos that’s not fast enough for GenZ and unacceptable to the networks… It would seem a player making their way to the crease was the root cause of games blowing out to 4 hours…4 hours!!!… for a whole game!!!… 4!!!… 4!!!… GenZ can learn everything they need to know about life in a half a dozen 15 second tinktack vimes… every second matters!!!… And simply applying an existing rule would see a whole bunch of innovators out of a job and their wages being spent on something like grass roots… nobody wants that…

Maybe the Chief Health Officer in each State should implement their own rules for each game… We could have the players neighbours dob bowlers in if they over step the crease, or a batsman doesn’t wear a helmet in the change rooms, and captains if they don’t have 1.5m between the slips…

I do hate deliberate time wasting in sport. Over rates work for the bowling side.
We need to stop batsmen wasting time, ok if they have been hit by the ball to spend time recovering. Otherwise face up, don't take you gloves off, mark the gard or adjust gear mid-over, don't chat about fishing trips, plenty of time to mess around between overs.
Same goes for light rain or the light, put he lights on, try to play when possible.
And bowling bouncers to poms is mandatory even for the spinner.

Anyone reckon in our lifetime we will see a game that is - 10 x 5 ball overs a side…Unlimited wickets… Every 2 overs a fielder leaves the field (or is voted off by the crowd using an app)… Played exclusively on rectangular netted fields… Over in 2 hours… Call it Crunchet or Crashet…
Anything is possible right???… I always knew the planet would end up a sick version of Orwell’s 1984, but didn’t think I’d live through it… but here we are…

I hate to be the one to say it, but due to anti-discrimination policy against female (& inclusive of other) participants it's officially "batters" now. Gone are the days of "batsmen".

Yes but why segregate batters and bowlers? Why does the bowler get to bowl the whole over? Why does the umprire never get a bat? Equal opportunity for all participants and sides must represent the diversity of society including the over 80 unvaccinated and suffering from dementia.

In fact I'd like to see something as punitive applied to all forms of cricket both batting and bowling. For eg: over rate slows down due to fielding time wasting - free hits is a start. And i'd like to see it in RL too, these teams that like to make teams wait on field for them, particularly in big games, particularly Melb - they're not out there within a minute of the first team, then let them kick off or receive a penalty if they're receiving.

I would probably think deducting or adding runs may be reasonable, but bowling at the stumps with no batspersonage+ standing there is just plain stupid…

I wonder how much time is wasted by third umpires and bunkers watching 500 replays of everything to get a call right most of us can see live…

+xLooking forward to the Ashes!!!… Especially when the Team wins a toss and bats… Next highlight will be a side not enforcing the follow on… Dont get me started Dman.... They should innovate Test cricket and introduce a new rule. Each team has to enforce a follow-on at least once every 3 opportunities. So if a team decides to not enforce it 2 times in a row, they are forced to at the next opportunity. It might actually help them win.

Yes i must admit the time wasted re-setting fields in cricket all the time is way too long. Some sort of penalty is needed

And introduce penalties for excessively slow play the balls when the clock is running down. Only ever saw it happen once and that was in a lower grade game but it was pretty tiresome in the grand final when every Penrith player in the last set of the game seemed to experience a head knock or some form of cramp.

Zef, here's one for you. I only read non-fiction books & the latest one has a focus on ancient history, going from one subject to another, one country to the next. After this & that, the subject landed on Ancient Egypt. Anyway, I didn't expect this, as it isn't exactly one of "those" books. You may or may not know that the great temple at Edfu is dedicated to their god Horus. That's god with a small "g" as in one of the gods, not to be confused with God with a capital G, known as the creator (for those inclined to believe that kind of thing). So from the translation of some of the hieroglyphs at the temple, it was at Edfu that Horus established a foundry of divine iron & where, in a special enclosure, he maintained the great "Winged Disk" that could roam the skies. "When the doors of the foundry open" the hieroglyphs declared, "the disk riseth up". The whole account refers to the time of the gods before the pharoahs were even there. As always, it doesn't prove anything, it's just very old paint on a wall. Anyone could've written anything there thousands of years ago, but that's actually what is written on it, amongst plenty of other stuff of course. I know what Von Daniken would be thinking...

I consider those of us to have seen Les Johns play are the lucky ones. There hasn't been much around but saw this last week, albeit on facebook...on a rugby league FIGS ie Former international greats. Only 1 minute 36 seconds but it will give you an idea of how good he was. The grounds are generally poor...modern grounds have great drainage but for perhaps the most rewarding 1 min 36 seconds you will have all year I reckon you should watch. there is one break and a pass to John Rhodes #4 which is probably the highlight. AND I will say it again he would be a sensation in any era. https://www.facebook.com/groups/167872180664214/permalink/1025328191585271/

And the unfortunate part is that Les Johns suffered a lot of injuries in his career. Just goes to show how good a player he really was.

My favourite player of all time. He would have an incredible highlight reel if he played in a more televised (modern) era. Some of the things he pulled off were absolutely freakish. Unfortunatey had a fair few injuries, thus the nickname Dandruff. If only there was a video of the Kevin Yow Yeh tackle at the old SSG.
