Very good ratings for the Matildas. On the flip side, TEN still finished 4th amongst the 5 networks for Saturday as a whole, which shows they have a long, hard road ahead of them. Interesting that the cricket, on Fox, in barely one quarter of all households, got ratings of 253k, and that's just counting traditional TV.

Good ratings considering the very little publicity outside the channel 10 bubble. Here in Qld - on radio and faxtel, almost not mentioned at all. Notwithstanding, the game was a good advert for the game and the channel 10 presentation was excellent. Augers well for the future.

2nd in the multis for the night. More importantly, TEN managed to beat the ABC across the whole day, by a decent margin too.

APL, FA & 10 are all playing a long rather than short game.... the more interesting figures IMO will be the trends ... Danny Townsend said in a long interview now for some reason not connecting but was for about three months… anyWho DT went to great lengths to explain no one including APL nor 10 are expecting to much early on… the rewards will be at the back end of the media deal and 10 have a three year trigger extension, to take the deal to 8 years…. further APL said they have detailed plans in place to raise revenue away from broadcast deals… DT said in that same interview… Football was not going after AFL or NRL fans… totally different to Lowy where he said make Football your number two code…. DT said the plan was to chase Football fans… 10 also agreed … Beyond this DT said that Football was looking to create revenue streams away from traditional broadcast deals and he explained in some detail how that was to be achieved. AS I said earlier for the first couple of years the trend will be important, and for the first time ever I can recall, Australian Professional Football has a logical plan to connect to the Football fan base... but connecting is one thing turning them into screen watchers and willing to go to matches takes time it does not happen overnight.

Solid ratings for Socceroos last night, 447,000 nationally not including streaming. So they matched it with the others in that time slot:
Seven: Home & Away Triple header - Between 446,000 and 501,000 ABC: 7:30 - 448,000 Ten: World Cup Qualifier - 447,000 Nine: RBT - 398,000
Interestingly the Home & Away triple header was higher for the first episode (before the game) but dropped off for the second two which were head to head with the Socceroos.
Overall, 3rd highest non-news show for the night after Home & Away and The Chase. Even more encouraging is the fact it topped the 16 - 39 and 18 - 49 demographics. 3rd in 25 - 54. That should encourage Ten regarding Football on their main channel.

Very good ratings. Middle East football not renowned for exciting football (that was further reinforced last night) does not make for a great drawcard.
Imagine if we had Germany, England, USA, Argentina, or even Sweden at this time frame, what the ratings would be perhaps + 2 million ????).
Besides the lack of goals, the ratings and move to free to air, looks to be paying off.

Had a client before he passed a few years ago who was Australia's or one of Australia's leading analysis ere trends and what worked and was mainly employed by TV networks, Newspapers and large corporates...
We spend many hours over way to many Hunter Reds discussing sports management and the importance of media management...
AnyWho, he laboured the point often a thing he termed """piggy back""" i.e. something is happening say 30 June i,e Tax Time, and your professional organisation will start getting the message out, traditional media will remind everyone its tax time, ... this is the best time to place your newspaper ads and put out flyers as they all piggy back on each other the the effect of the sum of the whole is far greater than each by itself.
In terms of this match, both Fairfax & News on the front page of their sports pages did not cover the game... the day before they had one article each... 7 & 9 iMelbourne the night before the game hardly mentioned ... the ABC gave it a little more... on game day 2 , 7 , 9 gave some but limited coverage the game was on...
Outside 10, no one spoke about how good the other team was... nor its importance in any kind of detail.
Given this 447K ratings is beyond expectation... you cannot say compare the lead up in this match to RL's SOO...
I don't expect the others to all of a sudden treat us nice... but I do expect a steady growth.....

I think having it on a main channel shows the importance of the match. I watched with my family and they were into it like never before I think it’s because it’s on a main channel not fox sports

That is probably a better start than they expected.

Most will be on paramount and tbh all that matters is the subs uptake.
Shut this topic down until streaming and subs is released. What’s the point of looking at probably a quarter of the story.

Good? Bad? Round 1 FTA Metro Ratings A-league 2014-15 215,000 (Fri) 2013-14 166,000 (Fri) 2016-17 118.000 (Fri) 2021-22 102,000 (Sat) Best opening metro rating in 5 years. Almost certainly the highest Metro FTA rating for a non final in at least 5 years. Closest I can see is a 93k metro rating for R1, 2018-19 Melb derby and a 90k metro rating for R2, 2017-18 Melb Derby +xMost will be on paramount and tbh all that matters is the subs uptake.

Metro ratings are not the point of the deal for Viacom/cbs. Do you think they honestly give a shot about some flog boomers watching one game a week on FTA telly?

The problem is that those who watched that shitty game won't be back. It was the Sydney derby on FTA and that's all that bothered to tune in. Suppose it's better to be half full lthan half empty.

10 ratings was 146K... the ABC used to get about 50K
To the 146 K needs to be added the other game on Paramount... no idea but is we assume 50K.... thats 200 K or 4 times the ABc...
