Hahaha. All I think about when Adelaide (and by extension SA) is that line from That Paul Kelly song.

'All the king's horses, all the king's men
Wouldn't drag me back again
To Adelaide, Adelaide, Adelaide, Adelaide'

My second favourite A league side though. And the best stadium in the country for football. And were once sponsored by a great beer. What's not to like?

aha yeah yeah I'm always happy for Adelaide to get stick for being a small town.
You need to live here to know where to go and what to do that's for sure.

Still, I like to think we are a slightly more intelligent and refined type of hick than our cousins up there aha

Anyway...we always suspected the anti-vaxxers were a small but vocal minority.
Combined with the "hesitant" though I did worry that we would peak at 80% but it's looking good all round really and it's totally understandable that the slowest states have been the least affected states.

In better-ish news for NSW besides the reopening/cases and what I have been following is the number of hospitalisation has dropped a fair bit.

Today - 766 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 155 people in intensive care, 74 of whom require ventilation.
1st October - 1,055 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 210 people in intensive care, 104 of whom require ventilation
15th September - 1,241 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 234 people in intensive care, 108 of whom require ventilation

Still alot of people dying - 15th Sep - 254 deaths total.  Today - 500 deaths total - More than doubled in less than a month.

As of yesterday-ish hospitalisations going way down in NSW 381 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 82 people in intensive care, 38 of whom require ventilation.

There have been 508 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 564 in total since the start of the pandemic.

Yup. Hospitalisations are down which is the better measure now. I think that's the same for Victoria too. They have a larger trend but all things are looking good.

Massive drops.  There were over 1000 hospitalisations just a few weeks back.

It's almost as if the vaccines are working. Go figure.

I was just trapped inside with someone with covid for two weeks. I spoke to two doctors here and one family member who is one in the US about my situation for tips. Everyone of them was consistent with one thing - for both of us to wear a mask whenever near each other/or indoors.

I wish I read this earlier and I just lobbed political insult back at them as they were obviously some kind of commies.

Having said that I didn't end up catching it.

Hopefully they recommended to wear an N91 mask or higher standard. As the video below demonstrates, the standard issue face masks you see people wearing around the shops do virtually nothing-

Sorry.  I just couldn't let Dirk vanadidas' comment slide.  I'm so sick to death of these lying morons.

This is an article from 2017 where Aguero fainted/blacked during a game:

Sergio Aguero has undergone medical checks after reports he fell ill during Argentina's 4-2 defeat by Nigeria in a friendly in Krasnodar.

The Manchester City forward apparently fainted at half-time before being taken to a local hospital. He was later released and rejoined the rest of the Argentinian squad.

Referencing a previous heart problem, Argentinian team doctor Donato Villani told reporters: "He felt bad twice, and with the medical history he has, since he was operated on when he was 15, we wanted to be sure it was nothing".

Mate, clearly every heart issue from here on out is vaccinate related. With 93% of the NSW population vaccinated, that's gotta be the case.

Of course there would be a play for even more power by Dictator Dan.  Whys top when you're onto a good thing

The proposed laws, introduced to state parliament on Tuesday, would give the Premier power to declare a pandemic for three months at a time and allow Health Minister Martin Foley to sign off on public health orders without the approval of the chief health officer.

Any side effects yet besides the ability to dodge a potentially lethal illness?

And it is not mandatory. I know plenty of people that have not taken it and claim they're not going to. However when Bali flights start taking off, I am pretty sure they'll find an excuse.

Its not mandatory, unless you want to work, of course.

And its not 80 days since my second dose....... by which time the government might (will?) be demanding I have a booster to remain registered to work.

As for "potentially lethal illness" that's an interesting question.........what exactly is my absolute risk of covid being lethal for me?

In Australia the risk of death after infection is round 1%-most of these dead were people with co-morbities, so likely the absolute risk for someone without co-morbidities is substantially less than 1% ( that's if unvaccinated, as only a small number of the dead are vaccinated) so say 0.2% for someone without co-morbidities and unvaccinated.  But I've also got to catch it first- and that isn't certain-so the absolute risk of someone without co-morbidities catching COVID and dying from COVID is even smaller than 0.2%.

Mandatory for work as a work safe issue and being forced to take it by a govt are two different things. Nobody forced you to take it, it was your decision at the end of the day.

Tbh your convictions cannot have been too steadfast if you capitulated so soon. Deep down you obviously weighed it up and realise it cannot be that bad and has an upside.

Otherwise you wouldve stood by your principles, regardless. Plenty of people are, having said that a lot are just getting on with it now.

Biggest Side effect now is the Government being able to come back as many times as they feel like during your lifetime and use you as a medical instrument.

You will be used for viruses less deadly than this, and for drugs that are less effective. You don't get to decide where the line is.

As has been previously mentioned, government mandated vaccination is nothing new and dates all the way back to the 19th Century.

1. It can be both.  The government runs AHPRA.  AHPRA required that I be double vaccinated to remain registered and be able to work and within a specific date.

2. I didn't capitulate "so soon". I vaccinated when it became clear  that i would not be able to work if not vaccinated within a specific date.

3. That is not a free choice.  You actually should be concerned that government can be so disingenuous by claiming that people had a choice and they chose of their own free will.  What about the next time your government decides to do something else to your body or else exclude you from participating, something which has just become increasingly likely given that Dictator Dan is ushering laws that make him not even answerable to the CHO.

Its only government I suppose.  They are here to help.

Sorry when did government mandated population-level vaccination take place using vaccines that were until a few weeks ago listed for emergency use only?

EDIT:  Found this:

Vaccination for COVID-19 is voluntary – as are all vaccinations in Australia – and people maintain the option to choose. Find out more below.
