We're not going to qualify. There is such a gap between a van marwijk and an arnold that it's just embarassing.

+xSome really great crossing thus far... At least Wilkshire actually got them in there. Impecable timing. Gotta love the game, eh :)

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

We're decent at capitalising on opponents mistakes. Once we get it and transition quickly we can generally create decent chances. This handball style slow build up when they bus park doesn't work. It would only work if we have our players move faster. Oh and my case in point! That cross by Hrustic!

+xMaclaren wouldn’t have scored that I agree, it’s not the kind of opportunity Maclaren is very comfortable with. Duke offers that versatility of being able to score from a wider range of scenarios.

A top class player knocks that on target first time with the left, great ball across

We are a lot more physical today than against the Saudi's. Good to see our challenges going in and being felt. What really stood out in the last game was our lack of physicality.

Wish we had Ikon out there. If we look at our best players on the ball we'd actually play much better. Ikon, McGree, Rogic aren't there. A fit Mooy and better Arzani. Add Atkinson and Elder and it looks alright actually playing the ball. I think Luongo will be back too. Some good reports of his return.

For as well as Saudi have done this round, they have had the same problem and jagged 1 goal wins. Same case with Japan. Korea and Iran too in the other group. Yeah they're flying at top but doing so by very narrow wins. Thing is it is a pretty effective tactic by some of these countries. We miss Rogic in this regard.

Defence is the first to be organized, and that is reflected by the lack of big scores. Next iteration of qualifying will be a lot harder as the so called minnows improve their attacks.

Didn't realise that opening China shot was on target and Maty pushed it away nicely. Our goal came from good Hrustic awareness which you get from playing at the higher level. He just new Boyle would be there and all you need is minimal space to create something.
