Consistently in the 6,500 to 7,000 range, I expect that that will probably be the norm for this season, with perhaps only the Victory and Sydney derby breaking the mould.

If MV do well that might be a bonus on the last few years, 6-7k seems like a really bad start when it’s the time of the season where traditionally interest is at its peak. Not sure where it’s gonna be at when teams start drifting off the pace.

What is up with the crowds for Sydney FC? Not even close to 10k is abysmal.

Disappointing crowd in Brisbane, it was the perfect day for it (even if I did forget my sunscreen like an idiot) and at a great time on Saturday, 8 to 9 should be what we are getting in a post-covid world as a pass mark. Hopefully the crowds start to pick up soon.

we are doing our bit. We have sold out our away bays for Adelaide this week (although the ever-changing border situation in SA may cause some cancellations) and early ticket sales suggest we will come close to selling-out our bays in the derby.

I picked 5.5 k. Moving to Dolphin lost Brisbane most of its support on the south side. This should not be underestimated.
I don't think there will be many attendances north of 7 k this year.
The mediocrity of the team isn't helping, but the reality is that Brisbane need to playing from a central location.

But then is the issue of adequate size stadium in a centralised location. Suncorp is a mammoth which costs too much for the return. What happened to their supposed stadium build? Is this just words

We   need   to  market   to   "football   people" ,  they   said.

Stop   marketing  to   "casual    sports  fans" ,   they   said.

Forget  all  those  "AFL  &   NRL   fans" ,  they  said...

Probably. Footy, league and cricket are too big and too strong. Football in this country will always run a distant third or fourth. Participation does not equal support. The sooner the administrators of this game realise this the better.

That's pretty much it. Brisbane may as well have said they were really just an NPL team.

So what's changed from last season.  Maybe people just aren't interested in football.

Combination of issues
- the latest expansion has completely tanked - far worse than Fury ands Gold Coast.
- lack of playing quality
- dull, reactive coaching (Corica number one offender not Robinson not far behind)
My personal take is that the latest expansion had to succeed to save the A League and the exact opposite occurred. Instead this latest, highly visible, catastrophically poor decision has been the Western United sized straw that has broken the camel's back.
This was the competition's last chance and its gone.
I very much hope I'm wrong, but I think not.

farkin bitters still carrying on. Western United are going nowhere. I’m not really sure why the focus is on them anyway when MacArthur is doing far worse… and they have a stadium (well sorta).

Indeed they are! Who were the other contenders that may have done better, I can't see any other potential bid doing any better? Maybe we have reached our limit with 10 top tier teams and need to look at a Div 2 with 10 teams?  I think its time to accept the norm of 5k average attendances, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The league was new, exciting, hence the 10k average, the league is now almost 20 years old, and we gotta accept it for what it is, there is nothing wrong with 5k crowds if the clubs are financial sustainable. Same as big bash, huge crowds early on, now they also struggling to get 10k. However it is disappointing to see the big city clubs like Brisbane and East Sydney struggle to even get 7k.

Your last quote is what's it all about. How can anyone be expected to pay money to watch players wasting time, faking injuries and cheating in the name of sport? Fans want to be entertained and not be frustrated on the terraces. Soccer/football has lost its soul and until there's a major overhaul it will continue to attract fewer spectators each season.
